I would say if you go with a Mamba max controller and a Lehner 1920/5 turns with 3-4s lipos ( the lehner will most likely eat it) and appropriate gearing, you'll be in the mid 80s mph.

Serum 09.16.2006 01:53 AM

You are saying that the 4600 is less powerfull than the 7700, the 4600 will have more torque than the 7700, so in fact'the 4600 is the strongest motor available from cc.

captain harlock 09.16.2006 02:27 AM

If you are referring to me, I would say that I did not even took torque and power under consideration between the two motors. Besides I'm speaknig about the 1920/5. Having a segmented rotor would make it handle the extra voltage to some extent. I know its revoluting highly above 90000kv, but some people ran it with 12 sub c cells and it screamed with lots of velocity. Also, his B4 is super light and I doubt it would give the motor lots of work and that is why I would say that 3s is better to use than 4s, where the motor wont rev as high as it would with 4s and you would get to some very high speeds near the high 70s low 80s.
The guy, as I have understood, is looking for speed and not torque or power.
The 4600 will easily be an overkill for a light 2wd 1/10 buggy.

Very sorry for the long reply, though.

Why not stick a 3080 on the car.... j/k :) I would definately go for the lower KV and higher voltage one.... I agree with Serum...

SpEEdyBL 09.16.2006 01:23 PM

I say all you need is a 5700 with 3s. It WILL go 70 mph if you gear up. You don't have to get a 4600 w/ 4s lipo to go that fast. In fact, you would have to use a separate BEC in order to use it.

Just for some clarification:

A 4000 kv motor on 3s is faster than a 7000 kv motor on 2s, and a 3000 kv motor on 4s is the fastest. The reason being that you gear higher with the high voltage, lower kv motors. Also, you really don't gain anything by using high voltage with a high kv motor.

At what point do I have to run the BEC? What is a BEC?

JB3231 09.16.2006 07:37 PM

What is the 3080 Aqwut? I looked through the motors and don't see it.

I am looking to have more top end punch and much higher top speed than this guy.

ok jb3231, you need to run a UBEC or a receiver pack at over 10 cells or 3s lipo with the mamba max, BEC (battery elimination circuitry) regulates the voltage to the servo, if you shove to much voltage in it, it will blow.

GET THE MAMBA MAX 4600 WITH A 4 CELL LIPO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also the 3080 is a boat motor that is like 10kw or 13.5hp or something like that..............

JB3231 09.16.2006 08:16 PM

The 4600 on 4s is faster than the 5700 on 3s. I will need to run a BEC for the servo's. Just stating what I am learning.

Battery and charger advice?

Lithium Polymer Battery RC Car 4000mah 4S 14.8V Pack

Is that the battery from Maxamps that I need to order? What charger, balancer, and BEC do I order?

yes the 4600 is faster on 4s http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...MM_4600&cat=20

ans here is the ubec
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...=6vubec&cat=21

you can safely run 4s on the mamba max with a UBEC, but i believe you will void the warranty.

charger maybe?
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...531lipocharger

not sure about a balancer.......

Skippy 09.16.2006 08:40 PM

WoW!! THAT'S .... FAST. I need some LIPO batt's

MetalMan 09.16.2006 09:37 PM

The warranty isn't voided with using 4s as long as the onboard BEC is disabled (removing the red middle wire from the receiver connector) and an external BEC (like UBEC) or receiver pack is used.

Serum 09.17.2006 03:56 AM

Not voided!? Cool..

How about when you swing it with another motor?

Bytheway, Captain, i wasn't referring to you, i was referring to this post.

captain harlock 09.17.2006 04:56 AM

Oops!! Sorry.

I would assume it should still be the same.
