Serum, I looked at the TM M1 and it seems to be a true engineering marvel...I think that will be my next nitro...It's just to pretty to cut up for a conversion..

Nothing is too pretty if you do a decent conversion Squee! i think this thing deserves a CF motorplate, and a tiny brushless motor, such as the neu 1509/1512 on 4 S lipo.

squeeforever 09.23.2006 05:13 PM

It's kinda cramped...Besides, it deserves a 1515 and 6S :p.

Serum 09.23.2006 05:31 PM

yeah, lets make it heavy... :p

squeeforever 09.23.2006 05:46 PM

But fast...I can't seem to find a good picture of the whole thing...Anybody know of one...

Ok... here's the new project. It's not as far along or as easy as I hoped for but it's at least something to look at now.

I messed around with a bunch of different layout options and I'm not sure what I'll do. I have a pic of a likely choice. Choice of battery has a big impact on what to do. I have a couple other layouts I like better but it requires a shorter than "normal" lipo like the @100mm ones. I only have the nickel-pack-size lipos now. (135-140mm)

The parts are just laying in there... the diff needs flipped of course and the battery would actually be moved forward a little and to the left just enough to clear the center gear, which will be slightly smaller than in the pic.

Anyway this is one option. Another I like is a layout just like the Jammin truck I did, with the motor in front where the fuel tank goes... basicly just swap the esc and motor in this pic...

The chassis (main aluminum piece) is offset so it looks funny at first glance. Notice the shock towers or body mounts for a reference to the center. The side skirts are different sizes.. and the overall width is about 2" narrower than other buggies.

It's interesting to say the least.

Now we need someone to do a Magic buggy.

Looking good! I love the Losi 8ight, but it's less than ideal for a BL conversion...

Serum 09.24.2006 04:12 PM

Pretty coool.

is that 4S 8000's? cool project man, i dig the mamba-maxx. Perhaps i need one for a nice 4S setup test-case.. LOL (all in the name of science)

Those shocks look b-i-g..

it looks like tons of fun to build, that's for sure!

glassdoctor 09.24.2006 04:14 PM

Yeah... one of the reasons I pulled the trigger was because it looked like a PITA to do.

The goofy offset rear driveshaft screws up my preffered layout.....

The car itself is both really sweet and kinda cheesy.... hard to explain but there are things that just don't seem right, or good enough compared to other buggies, but there are things that are cool. I like how simple the whole front clip is, less bulky and I assume lighter....

It's weird

Here's a poor pic showing both buggies... see the difference in shocks, car width.... etc

I will get a better side by side later

hehehe:018: man thats good stuff

glass thats going to be sick i want to convert a buggy but my revos isnt done yet lol

What about making a CF tray that is mounted to the metal part of the chassis, and extends over the dirt guards (but doesn't sit on them)? That would allow the use of all the area over the dirt guards. That what I was planning to do, but I want to see someone else to try it first as a sort of guinea pig. :)

With that diff offset, it looks like mounting the motor on top won't be an option due to weight distribution.

Nice buggy!

Where's the pic?

[Edit]: There it is! ;)

Serum 09.24.2006 04:21 PM

for my lighting i made a aluminum plate to move the diff a little to the center. (dogbons had the right lengrh for it though)

Serum 09.24.2006 04:22 PM

Did you ever put 5S thru the mamba-maxx?
