They look really nice. Really intrested. Are hop-ups easily available for these?

I wish I could keep my work top that clean to!

bluonyx 11.10.2006 11:06 AM

Its only clean because I finally got around to Ebay'n all the extra stuff I had on there. I had to pay for the new project somehow.

coolhandcountry 11.10.2006 06:04 PM

Cool. I like the big joes on it. I like them tires any way but they just rock.

coolhandcountry 01.12.2007 03:34 PM

How is this project coming along?
Haven't heard nothing lately.
Did you decide on motor and stuff yet?

Procharged5.0 01.12.2007 03:37 PM

Nice find! Looks like it's in fantastic condition!

bluonyx 01.12.2007 04:00 PM

Sorry, it's been awhile. I was unhappy with my 14" wheelbase, so I ordered some new links, drilled a few holes and ta da! It feels like a whole new truck. Bought some Integy shocks, but up the chassis, moved up the tranny, locked the diffs, modified the steering, 12mm to 23mm adapters, and added carbon fiber top trays to hold the lipo's and other gear.

I tried the HV setup in it and it was way to much power for crawling. The torque twist was so bad. I got rid of the stock suspension setup and mounted the shocks directly to the axles. I ditched the HV and got a Crawler motor for the HV Controller and it works great. Tons of torque and just enough top end speed. Novak still has to work on it's drag brake issue to stop the motor on a incline.

I have 40 weight oil in the shocks now, and there is no twisting at all anymore.

5" Clearance
17" Wheelbase
Locked diff's
Crawls almost over anything.

My wife also got in the Crawler stuff too and loves it. She surprised me even more and one weekend, dug up a spot on the backyard to crawl with. We went up to the mountains, got some rocks, dug a few holes. She's been working on it the past few weekends. So this is a pic when she first started.

Since then I've also bought a Baja Mini-T and a High-Lift. I just finished my high-lift with a Mamba Max 4600 setup and this thing is awesome. I wish Castle would hurry up and get the Monster Maxx Motors out. I would love to switch to a Mamba Max in my TXT. The USB programming is great.

Here's some pics for you:

These are of the old setup, the shocks are mounted to the axles now and I have a Clod Body too.

You can see the Clod Body, sort of in this shot.

Here's the high lift. It's almost finished, I just have to detail the body, do the foldaway mirror mod, and lock the rear diff.

More pics of the high-lift:

I was going for a Harley Davidson edition F-350. But once I put on the first orange coat, the color was not what I was expecting. So I kept going and because I was impatient, forgot not to paint when it's so cold outside and the paint ran.:019: So I let it dry, took it inside and wet sanded it. I like the look of it now, because it looks weather beaten' and I'm just going to get it scratched up anyway on the rocks and stuff. I just might have to buy a seperate body for show.

I might paint one door and the taligate a different color to look like a pick-your-parts truck. I was even thinking of puching a small hole and making it look rusted. Also my 11yr old son is really good at dry brushing so I'm going to let him detail it tomorrow with me. Mostly on the chrome stuff because it's to bling, bling.

Here's the folding mirror mod:
Step one: cut them off. Remove the skinny section from the center of the posts.
Step two: cut four short sections of 1/8 heat shrink tubing, and attach them to the mirror stubs with CA glue.
Now you've got fold-away mirrors!

That High-Lift must be crazy to drive with the Mamba Maxx in there! I assume its a 4600?

bluonyx 01.12.2007 04:29 PM

Yup, it's the 4600. I just lightly squeeze the throttle, and set the curve really low. I did try to go fast but with the 4WS, it toppled immediately. It really sucked because I didn't have the body on, but was cool at the same time. I didn't think the Mamba had that much power, BOY! was I wrong.

That's why I picked the 4600, it's more than enough. And the Mamba Max contoller is great. Brushed, Brushless, auto-lipo cutoff, programmable. What more can you want.

Procharged5.0 01.12.2007 04:36 PM

Sound like it's a blast to drive! Any videos of it yet?

coolhandcountry 01.12.2007 06:36 PM

Have you thought of a 4600 mamba in the txt?
I was thinking of this set up myself.
Would like to get opinion if run.

I love rock crawling!

I have a Tamiya high-lift too, and just sold my tlt-1 axles on the bay.

High-lift has: (set up for pulling now)
Ford courier body
M2k's
55t motor
12 cells
evx
gd600 @ 3.8:1, 13 pinion, well over 100:1 FDR i think
Top speed: about 5mph @ WOT with 12 cells :005:

Bye:018:

(sorry for the thread hi-jack, i was sort of on topic)

coolhandcountry 01.12.2007 09:39 PM

It does very well, i was actually surprised how well. With 12 cells in the front of the truck it has alot of grip. Over an hour of run time too with 3000's...

Pics, would crappy 640x480 camera phone pics do?

I had a tlt-1 with a torsion chassis (no links or shocks) that ran extremely well. (too easy to drive well, for me at least:005: ) Also got 45 min. run time with 1600mah 2/3a 10 cell pack.

Bye:027:
