And brushless? Hinthint... :p

Bomb-Proof 01.25.2007 04:29 PM

Nah, this one is gunna stay nitro, but yea there is an electric version in the works. I would like to have a flattrack version in electric. :027:

Here is somthing to think about; A brushless motor with two shafts sticking out.. One on the end-bell too. Pick the KV you like.. Lehner can make these motors, i had this plan for a monstertruck with a low CG and perfect balanced layout. Only catch with an MT is that the cd is missing..

Bomb-Proof 02.23.2007 02:44 PM

yep, we were gunna do that at one point, but I think it would snap the shaft fairly easily. I think it would take like a 10mm motor shaft to work.

Serum 02.23.2007 02:49 PM

We asked lehner about 1 year back about this, and they can produce these motors. No need for a 10mm shaft though.

Bomb-Proof 02.23.2007 02:57 PM

well I sheered a 6mm shaft off on a whoop section. With no center diff, it takes a major beating.

Serum 02.23.2007 03:14 PM

what motor/kv/weight vehicle? the shafts are made from hard inox steel, the strains are pretty straight with the cups right onto it. (not sidewards like with gears) if that's the case; You would need 10mm dogbones too, and even thicker ones to the wheels, since the forces are roughly 4 times higher there..

With a normal gear reduction, the motor is spinning at about 35000rpm, and the wheels at about 3000, so the forces at the wheels are 12 times higher than at the shaft of the motor. Since 8 mm shafts are more than enough on the wheels, 8 would be more than enough for a motor.

A rubber type slip coupler would work great for the driect drive thing. There's a guy on rczone using them in a buggy conversion with direct drive outrunners.

thats a Racers edge .32 right? I got one in an LSP pro-r and its wicked powerful

Bomb-Proof 02.24.2007 09:11 AM

yep, sure is. :027:
