Borderline toys!!!!
If Tamiya hears you say this, they'll shut down their American head quarter in no time...:) Really, though, if you ask me about the toughest and highest in quality kits in the market, Tamiya would always be my choice, Jeff. People always doupt the potential of their kits. They've even won the IFMAR worlds twice with their 414 and 415 touring sedans. Also, their newest TNX GP version is said to be able to do 60mph in an instant out of the box. Their highend kits are no borderline toys, at all, IMHO. |

Are they going to offer the Nitrage in kit form? or just RTR? |
To be honest, its not a great truggy if that is only a slipper in there. If theres no center diff, its not gonna be all that great. Personally, I like it, but without a center diff I would never buy one.
|
Tamiya did not go all out with this one. My best guess is that it's gonna be an RTR just like the TNX. And I don't even think it's gonna be competetive in it's current form. A set of hop ups is to be released, soon.
Also, for brushless, this dude is gonna be a major PITA. The chassis is quite narrow if you ask me. |
yea...leroy it doesn't look to bad. But id rather do a lsp or the new xt8 from x-ray!
|
The main thing Im wondering is if the transmision has a dif in it. If it does I just want to get my hands on the transmision only. I'm wondering if it can be adapted to other buggys/truggies. Basically a slipperential for buggies and truggies. When are they due to be released? It will be a month or so after that that parts from parted out kits start showing up on ebay.

nope... dont like it! its a mutant? it cant race in the truggy class because it has a tranny, so its more targeted for the revo i guess? its not a truggy if it has a tranny. they even say "optional 2 speed" doh!
we were just talkin about this at my site, noone seems too impressed. gawd... i just read some from tamiya themselves. ive lost all respect for that company! read these quotes.. its all jibberish!! lol.. "Tamiya is the first to bring this special feature to the R/C world. Even the connection between the engine clutch bell and the spur gear are completely enclosed and protected from outside interference. As a result, all gears have constant stable lubrication and gear backlash is contained by the gearcase. This means the Nitrage does not need to resort to using any heavy and expensive steel gear parts, giving fans more modification flexibility." more modification flexability!! lol.. thats what were all looking for!! lol.. screw steel gears, i want plastic so i have some flexability! heres another... what planet are these people from? trying to start a new race class with this turd? it cant race truggy... "OPTION PARTS AVAILABLE SOON! Both performance-enhancing and cosmetic Option Parts are planned for release in the near future. Keep an eye out especially for announcements of the 2-speed transmission that will increase top speed to 80km/hr (approx. 50mph) and powerful twin disc brakes. " its like these people have been asleep for the last couple years and someone had a dream about this buggy monster truck hybrid.. its all about the wing. "DISTINCTIVE REAR WING The large rear wing on the Nitrage is a double-split design inspired by those equipped on actual WRC cars. Catch pin attachment means the upper surface of the wing remains flat, adding to its stylish appearance. Since the wing is connected to the chassis and not the body shell, it clearly distinguishes the Nitrage as a Tamiya product even when the body is removed. " good lord.. it keeps getting better!! lol.. "WIDE-SPAN FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER ARM Truggies from other makers usually feature upper I arms for the front suspension, which offer flexibility but are lacking in structural strength. The Nitrage has specially designed upper A arms for the front suspension that allow flexible suspension travel without sacrificing strength. " gotta have that. either theyre crazy, or theyre trying to compete in the mt class? thats no truggy. close... but with a tranny, so illegal to race with truggies. but it would race with revos........ that might put a whoopin on a revo at the track? the last tamiya i had was a frog.... |
Thats hilarious... and pretty pathetic at the same time.
|
Tamiya messed up.. bigtime!
|
To be honest, that can't race MT either...The engine sits to low...It could possible race truggy, or "outlaw", at some tracks because the truggy classes is anything that can't run MT...
|
I think it's a cool truck... 90% of trucks sold never get raced.
BUT since this is the topic... how is it "legal" for a highly modified (truggified) Revo or Maxx to race in MT class? I'm guessing sometimes it's not... you have to run with the truggies? |
because they have a transmission that is above the driveline. buggies/truggies its all direct, on a flat pan.
|
The rules vary from track to track to. It may race different classes at different tracks.

Note, by the way, that there is a center diff in the tranny. From the press release: Quote:
Edit: Here's a photo showing the front and rear brakes, which strongly suggests a center diff: http://www.radiocontrol.gr/images/tamiya01020713.JPG |
