The Kyosho gears are bolt-on. I made the motor mount of course and some simple guards to keep the battery where it's supposed to be, and the velcro strap. That's about it. I should have some professionally made motor mounts soon... the first shop wanted $70-90 ea to make them... but I have a place that's supposed to be half that, when they get to it anyway. They are real busy right now so I'm waiting. Next week, hopefully...

how well has the graphite motor mount held up?

glassdoctor 03.09.2007 10:25 AM

Awesome so far... very stiff and no issues. The only issues I have ever had with the graphite mounts is when I make them.... I made the motor screw slots a littel too wide once, so I have to use washers or large head screws. ;)

Do you have it attached to the chassie as well or just the diff mount?

I try to have a scew bolted to the chassis also... but the main attachment is to the diff towers. I have run them with only the three screws bolted to the stock diff towers without a problem. But it's nice to have an extra screw bolted through the chassis.

The CRT is nice because there is already a countersunk hole in the chassis in a perfect spot to bolt up to my graphite mount.

Glassdoctor,
I just won a jammin CR buggy, my buggy that was selling his xray backed out. I wanted to set it up similar to you losi 8 because I already have an 8000mah pack for my xxxt. what style motor mount did you make? I wanted to do the top motor mount and split the batteries. do ou have any motor recommendations using two 8000 packs? I wanted to go cheap for now and pick up the MMM when it comes out. I am going to use the mamba ecs though from the start. any suggestions with the buggy?

thanks,
B

I would recomend an 8XL for running on 4s 8000 and MM.

As for layout, sounds like you want something like BrianG's Hyper 8. My 8ight has the motor on one side, battery on the other.

My 777 has the motor over the center diff like that, but I did custom driveshafts and moved the diff forward so the batteries could tuck in behind the center diff. Brian' sis similar but leaves thd diff centered in the car and the batteries are a little farther out from the center.

I really like the 777 layout but it does require custom shafts... more work to do. Some pics of my cars....
