Yah i can see that as being a major consequence, completely frying your controller.

You mean when the endbell(s) pop(s) off? So far I haven't noticed any scratching of the windings, or difference in performance.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I know when I deliberately pulled off the end cap to clean the bearings on my 10XL, the rotor tried to scrape the coils. There isn't much gap between the coils and the rotor, so I figured that if it popped off in a crash, it would do a decent amount of damage.

Mine haven't popped off, but have loosened unevenly (at an angle other than perpendicular). This is how bearings have been damaged.

When I pull my motors apart, I just try to keep the rotor from sliding on the windings. But even if I couldn't prevent it, I feel safe about it knowing that there is an epoxy-like coating on the windings that should provide some protection.

Actually, yes, the enamel on the wires is actually pretty tough (good wire is, don't know how good the wire the feigao's use), and the epoxy will just add to the strength. It probably does happen though.

Well nothing seems to be damaged in my particular motor and it happend more than once.

I have the motor in an E-savage that I modified a little for track use. I was practicing on a local track that has a nice size double-double rhythm section. I was hitting it perfect every lap and just got over excited and grabbed too much throttle. The truck over-jumped and nosed hard right into the face of the third jump and the motor came apart from the sudden stop. I got the endbell back together and figured I'd take it easy the rest of the day but it popped back off after a few minutes. It runs fine now. I have it together with JB weld for now. I do think the front bearing is a little crunchy though.
