oo.. well i meant the uhh 1950 or w/e those are lehner right?

jollyjumper 05.01.2007 10:00 AM

1950 is lehner.
bk doesnt distribute lehner anymore and thats were mike got them from i think.

he is now probly trying to get them direct from lehner.

so if you want a motor now you gotta get a neu.

I don't recommend the use of 6S on both controllers though.

I don't see a problem with using 6s A123 on the Quark. It would actually be perfect for the Quark. Quark only has problems with 6s lipo at full peak charge. Once the voltage drops a little from peak, it works great. The A123 6s pack will peak at a lower voltage than the 6s lipo so it should work perfectly.

I do agree that 6s A123 will be too much for the MM.

Has anyone tried charging regular lipos to something like 4.1v/cell CC/CV threshold? It's not much, but would lower overall voltage by 0.6v for a 6s pack.

jhautz 05.01.2007 02:41 PM

I havent charged them to the lower level specifically, but as soon as they get down to a static voltage of around 20-20.5v the Quark runs 6s lipo just fine. I did it using a watts-up meter in line with the packs just to see what the voltage was when it stopped cogging at start up. It doesnt take much of a voltage drop to make a pretty big difference.

Wow, that's a little over 3.4v/cell. Hmmm, sounds like the 125B is a SOLID 5s ESC, and marginally acceptable at 6s.

Serum 05.01.2007 02:58 PM

With the right cells (flightpower/enerland) 5000 it takes 120A to get them on 3.5V per cell. (not kidding) at 120A they still do a 21V.. not considered a 6S ready setup that way IMO..

Thanks for sharing Jhautz!

t-maxxracer32 05.03.2007 12:42 PM

wow tha made no sense to me ^^^

i think i might get the quark and then just get an 8xl motor and if i want more then upgrade at that time.

BrianG 05.03.2007 12:52 PM

Jhautz pointed out that the ESC likes voltage only as high as ~20.5v, but at 6s, that's only 3.4v/cell. Serum is saying is that some cells hold their voltage better than others, so you shouldn't count on a certain level of voltage drop from the better cells. In short, don't do 6s on the Quark.
