Yep, finally works. That thing is fast!! Looked to be a clean set up as well.

jhautz 05.07.2007 11:16 PM

Sweet vid... Looks like that 1515/2.5D runss pretty nice. :dft012:

I'll second that. TrueRC lipos are a hell-of-a bang for the buck. Best value Lipos IMO. I have 3 sets of 5s 8000mah and they run great.

I second everything he says :027: (except the 3 sets part lol)

btw Jeff, I heard you went out to the Huntley track this past weekend. What do you think of it so far? Did you put the 1512 in your buggy? I'm thinking about skipping out on Hobbytown and see if I can play at Winne's instead.

Video works for me too, now.
I don't agree with jollyjumper that it's overpowered, but it is powerfull.
I want basically the same setup in my Thunder Tiger ST-1 Pro (1515 2.5d,Quark 125, 5s, 46t spur, 13 or 14t pinion for racing)
I haven't ordered the batteries yet though. I was thinking 8000mah maxamp packs, but people have been saying that the truerc packs are good value.
Are these packs getting hot in your setup, do they seem relible? If they work well for you then they should work well for me.
How does the motor and esc seem temp wise? I don't think the motor should be much of a issue, but I'm not sure about the Quark.
How does the run time seem? I'm wondering if I can get 25 minutes racing out of it.
Sorry, one more question to bug you with. What weight diff oils are you running? I like that it diffs out a bit, but is still able to do wheel stands.
Looks like a good car and I hope keeps working well.
Thanks

Yea, I was out there for a couple hours on sunday. Pretty sweet layout they have there. The track is HUGE. Its even got a 2nd section of the track that can be added on to it if they want to make it bigger, or it can be run as a separte track. They are also building a dirt oval track, a big boulder pile for rockcrawling and they are even talking about putting in a scale dragstrip. The dragstrip soulds cool. I think I could get into that.

The layout on the offroad track is pretty sweet, but the place still needs some clean up before its ready to open. Really dry and disty with alot of big rocks still scttered about. Killer bashing spot right now, buit not quite ready for racing yet. Its gonna be really sweet when they are done though.

I wount be out there this weekend, but I'm gonna tray and get out there the next sunday.

Oh yea... And yes the buggy ran sweet in the 1512.

The packs are just barely warm. one of the packs slid across rough blacktop for about 60ft, and in my lsp, the pinion came loose, and moved up against the lipo. the cells have indentation where the pinion rubbed, but so far, no problems at all..
at one point i was running my lsp only only one of the packs (40a constant), and it ran flawlessly. the packs balance pretty well. nothing but good things from me.

barely above ambient.. It's been in the 70's, and I can't tell if there's heat coming off of the motor or controller/heatsink. I'm not sure about the quark either. I did the mod before I ran the truck, so I can't compare before and after.

idea. I havn't run it down yet. I've been running for 5-10 minutes at a time, and basically I charge them when I've had 2-3 runs on them. I need to get a good long session in to see what it is.

I don't even know what diff oil comes stock... the truck now has 50k in the center though. when I ran it before I changed the center, the fronts would expand to 10-12"

sounds great. second thought, i'm going to sit this weekend out I think. I need to do another center diff rebuild, shock rebuilds, and something's binding in the steering.. I can hear it it squeek, and seems to turn more to one side. Good to hear you like the motor. I like my motor alot more haha. great deal.

neweuser 05.09.2007 01:43 PM

Very nice LSP IMO, I like that it has the power available there.

mach1stang 05.10.2007 06:24 PM

very nice set up seems to run very good.

Patrick 05.11.2007 02:34 AM

Thanks for the answers A4DMT.
I got my 1515 2.5d yesterday, and I think I'll get the TrueRc packs (I want to use a 2s and 3s pack together), if there not that good then atleast they're not too expensive.
Now I just need to make a motor mount and battery trays.

AAngel 05.11.2007 02:37 AM

I'm running a truerc 5S 8Ah pack too. With my 8XL it never even breaks a sweat.

IMPOSSIBLE! LOL!

My philosophy for RC's is like cars. Power is just about right when it scares the s__t out of you! :)

......and yes, if you can't control it it's not much fun, so I get your point. :027:

I finally got a change to watch the movie.

You are familiar that brushless controllers can do more than on/off?

You can see the batteries are getting warmer at the end of the movie. The temperature difference gives it more power.

haha of course I know they can do more than on and off. I was trying to break it.. I've always had horrible drivetrain luck with all my rc's.. my old tc3 snapped 5 aluminum cvd's, and bent two steel cvd's.. eventually went to titanium, and didn't have any problems after that.. I was just breaking in the drivetrain to see what would fail first. in the video the spur stripped.. I just happened to strip another spur tonight.. that's my 5th stripped spur so far :002: I've only got another 6 in my toolbox =\

Serum 06.03.2007 03:39 AM

What spur are you using? you could use a plate that holds the 51t ofna spur, and put two of them on it and ask Mike to make you a longer pinion. (or one plastic, and one steel)

A4DTM 06.03.2007 07:03 AM

I've been using the kyosho 46t gear from mike's store. I believe the cause is the motor not staying put.. it seems to slide away from the diff just a tiny bit.. I'm not sure, but it's not sheering the teeth off completely, it's just kind of flattening them 1/2 way down. I'm trying some new screws tommorow (hex head, instead of phillips), and I'll use loctite, and see if it holds.
