cant wait!!!
also. i figure if something goes wrong with the conversion thenn i will have so many other peoples to base it off of. but i will be ordering everything withtin this month! |
he is converting it to Brushless
|
who is converting what to bl?
|
you, thats is why you would not need a nitro engine. sorry for the confusion
|
oo haha yep!! cant wait to get it started!!
also do you know if anything is NEEDED to do to the tranny to make it work? |
If you want motor braking, you have to lock the tranny (into 2nd gear.) See BrianG's thread in the Revo sec.
Instead of going down on the batt count, why don't you go up on the motor turns, ie a 9xl or 10XL (assuming you could get the 6S A123 to fit)? You can keep the power, but have a cooler running truck w/ longer runtime. |
motor braking? what is that? how much slower will a 9xl be compared to an 8xl?

BrianG's Speed calc A 9XL on 6S A123 is faster than a 8XL on 5S A123. I'm not a quark expert, but I believe I've read they will run 6S A123 (22.2V), but 6S lipos (25.2V) are teh trouble spot. I'd personally go with 6S A123 w/ a 10Xl over a 5S A123/ 8XL if you are considering 6S an option. Speeds should be close, but the former will be cooler and give better runtime (but weight is more obviously.) |
I agree with with Finnster with that setup, 6sA123 with 9 or 10XL. That will move!
|
I agree too. We all know the Quark runs just fine at 5s. So:
5s lipo at max charge is 21v (4.2v/cell). The nominal voltage is 18.5v (3.7v/cell). 6s A123 at max charge will be 21.6v (3.6v/cell). The nominal voltage will be 19.8v (3.3v/cell). |
I would use 17volts (load) for voltage (6s A123) input on Brian's calc for top speed.
|
hmmm!! thst is cool that i can use 6s a123!! that way i dont have to buy new batts!
|
so i was just calculating speeds and with the wanderers my max speed i can get is like 35. not too bad but if 35 is my top speed why should i not just get a novak system for it? the reach around 35 right?
which neu motr would i usE? i putsome in and got speeds in the 40s |
To gain more speed, you can gear up the Wanderers or the Nues (especially the Neus) easier. The Novaks are more sensitive to gearing from what I've heard (pulls more current than the Novak systems can handle).
|
That is true, that is true. Havent smoked mine yet but I have blown a batterypack since the motor wanted more juice than it could supply.
