wow, 14 cells. i am now leaning towards the MM. i thought the spedo was only ment to handle the 12 cell, so i didnt want to spend the money and risk burning it up

Some people have even run 5s, which is roughly equivalent to 15 cells. So, 14 cells should be ok as long as you use something like a 9XL to keep the current down somewhat.

i am going to guess that if i was to use 12 or 14 cells it would void my warrenty. so i am not even going to risk it. i will howeve wait till around x-mas to see if traxxas or cc has the monster versions out yet. i really want the MMM but things are lookin south

All of the Mamba Max escs that I have run 4S very well. Just watch the cogging. If it coggs to a point that it is a problem, back off of the gearing a bit. If you still have problems, then check all of your connections. I've had major problems with my Quarks (two of them now) and had to send my Compro in due to software issues. My MMs have been rock solid, save the two that I had to send in, because I fried them overgearing on 5S.

Actually, the 4600 motors DO have the max rated voltage listed as 12 cells. And, the manual for the MM ESC has a preset lipo cutoff for 4s. 2 extra cells over the rated 12 is not going to be noticeable unless there is obvious overvoltage damage.

I nice 2000-2500kv motor would be good on 12-14 cells then, Im just thinking about weight issues now in relation to gearing- you can only gear down so much before its too slow to be much fun, then you might as well get a bigger esc to go with the motor if you can find one that works these days....

BrianG 05.31.2007 12:53 PM

lol, all ESCs work..... until you let the smoke out! :)

gasshead 05.31.2007 10:27 PM

noo not the dreaded smoke, i accually had fire then smoke on my xrs (stock for 18t)

I won't tell you to do it, but i have and got away with it twice. One had a 9XL and the other had a 7XL, they were freaky.

but you really dont beleve i would have a problem with the MM? i am on the verge of getting one but i am still not 100%

I haven't had any problems at all with 14 cells on the MM. The MM and the 9XL run at about 130* with no fans. I haven't had any cogging issues, actually , no issues at all. I have probably 15 runs on it now all on the IB4200s and I'm still grinning from ear to ear.

I did have a gnarly crash last week and knocked the heatsink off the MM, but thanks to the guys here I should have that fixed this weekend.

Good luck and don't be scared of the MM on 14 cells.
