ahh I see I glazed over the post where he said he was going to switch to his traxxas tx/rx.

I know the transmitter in the picture was part of the package, but do you know if it is Futaba based? Some RTRs can come with the electronics from other manufacturers - they just put their label on it. Either way, you could try reversing the throttle channel and give it a go.

I assume you are trying to calibrate it to the ESC according to the ESC's manual...

Just so everybody knows, Airtronics builds the radios for Associated.

LOL, is that text big enough? I can't quite make it out. :)

That's nice to know though. Although, I probably won't remember that next time, and will spend about an hour trying to search the forums for this information.

Anyway, it was just an idea. I was also going to suggest opening the EPAs to as wide as they could go and then make small adjustments to the throttle trim as the next step, but since he replaced the radio already, it's a moot point.

Thanks again Brian for the help. The TX receiver/ transmitter worked very easily. I got to drive the truck again today, and I'm really impressed with it. Now I just need to get my battery charge so I can charge these batteries.

All transmitter/reciever sets on 27mhz AM, EXCEPT for airtronics, are using the same crystals. I have seen futaba Trans. and JR recievers together, Traxxas and ace (associated and thundertiger radios) together. The part about airtronics is something i heard, so not sure

No problem. It's too bad we couldn't get the stock tx/rx set to work though. The only issue with using the stock Traxxas radio is that it is AM and might be prone to interference from the BL components. If it works though, great!

I'm sure if I played with the AE receiver/ transmitter a little longer I could of got it to work. I got it to program completly but when I pushed the trigger to go forward it went backwards. After that I couldnt get it to program anymore, so I moved on to the traxxas. Right now I'm not getting any interference, if I do in the future I can always go to an upgraded receiver/ transmitter combo.

Oh! All you had to do with that is swap any two BL motor wires! That may happen no matter what you use.

nastety92 06.02.2007 03:31 PM

I did swap the wires, but when I did that I needed to reprogram the esc again, thats when I couldnt get it to work correctly. Then I switched to the Traxxas receiver/ transmitter.
So far the TX rec/ trans has been working great. I got to drive the truck a few times today for a few minutes each. The truck is really fast, it feels like I took the stock four cylinder out and installed a big block.
