My HV-Maxx is showing the lights of a locked rotor. It doesn't move even when I ran it without a load it showed the same blue & green lights. If I give it a little push it will go, but it cogs a lot. My gearing is 81T spur and 23T pinion. I had a BK 7018, Lehner Basic 5300 and ran it without a problem.

have you tried gearing down? doesn't look like you can go any higher on the spur, but you could try something like a 12 or 15 tooth pinion.

Hmm, I may be stating the obvious here but it sounds like a dud motor. The only thing I can suggest is to send it back for repair/replacement.

I might have to send it back. The 6.5 motor the VXL fried it and I only have another 4.5 that I will try.

Hey Guys,
You can always email us directly for assistance, Tech@teamnovak.com CS@teamnovak.com or Charlie@teamnovak.com I always have a hard time "nailing" a particular problem to the wall with out testing the system first, but the basics have likely been covered, connections, wiring and bad plugs. I've seen and had Deans plugs that when inserted completely will cause the system to "misfire" or not start. The solution was simply not to plug them in all the way. I don't know if this is common, but I had 4 packs that all had the same issues. Replaced the deans and Voila problem gone. It's worth looking into at least. Charlie@teamnovak.com |

Welcome to the forums, Charlie. Good to have some Novak expertise here. Any chance I could get a good pic of the custom center spur setup that Bob is running in his kyosho 1/8 buggy? |
I just had a thought, lutach. Your 6.5 may have a dead hall sensor. I don't know how this could happen other than being defective of course, but it seems to fit your description of the problem well. A dead hall sensor may still register with the ESC so it wont fault immediately and it will "try" to move. When you give it a push it gets the system going and the momentum built up by the previous two stator firings is enough to carry it past the dead sensor at speed without much noticeable loss of power. But it will still feel like it has a slight cogging issue even while driving at constant speed. If your 4.5 motor acts up, then you know it's the ESC alone. Unless you have TWO dead motors...

I'll be sending the HV-Maxx system for you guys to look at. I'll fill out all the paper work and I made a copy of the receipt. I tried it with my new 4.5 motor and it was the same situation. |
I decided to try my MGM TMM 8012-3s with the 4.5 motor I have and wow. It is fast. The MGM is really smooth.

Just an update on the issues I had. I mailed the system in to Novack a little over a week ago. Just got a brand new one on my doorstep today. They tested it and the ESC had a bad Mosfet. Great turn around time and customer service.
Thanks Charlie! |
good to hear, i need to send mine in to
