Just so everyone knows, the 2280/11 does 673rpm/v. LMAO, imagine the gearing!!!! You'd be better off putting the spur on the motor and the pinion on the input shaft!!! :L:
|
Or run some serious voltage to get the rpms up!

You don't need to gear it down.. You can also gear it up.. centerdiff.. large pinion..
Like i said... I'll get my toolbox.. |
Hey Guys,
You guys are killing me with the 2280 comments, lol.:L: Keep in mind the 2280 also weighs in at a hefty 2 pounds. On 24 cells I can overdrive the motor on a gearbox, on 32 cells it's just stupid power. Someone guessed it, I race FE boats.:D But, back to my question. For the 3100XL on 12 cells what would be a good/mild starting gear set? I would use the 8L but it's got the 5mm shaft and my pinions are very limited, if someone could suggest a gear set for it I'll see if I have the right setup. Thanks again, Paul. |
for the xl3100 try a 13/66 or 14/66. i personally have the same setup on running 14/66 but i think i need a 15. no chance of wanting to get rid of a motor? xl5000 maybe? (need something for rs4 rally)

13/66 or 14/66 is a nice place to start on the xl3100. I have a decent selection of 5mm pinions as well, just in case you decide on the 8L.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the combo! As far as selling any motors I use all of them in different boats/classes so I wouldn't be able to help you out there. Thanks again, Paul. |
