I think its a good buggy but not a lot of lhs carry parts for it.

I'm also working on getting a 1/10th scale 4wd buggy. I'm definatly leaning more twards a kyosho zx5, academy sb v2, or a tamiya df-03... reason being these cars all use a shaft drive and will fit a standard 6 cell pack (I'm using lipo's and there are way more options for a standard pack vs. a saddle pack). I tried to pick up a Dark impact used (df-03) but it didn't work out...

Now I'm going after the Academy sb v2, parts are hard to find but they would have been for the df-03 as well.

I would be up for the zx5, but I'm not convinced it's worth more than the sb v2 for the price. The basic zx5 is more expensive than the sb v2 pro carbon fiber with all the goodies.

Anyone know of any other 4wd buggies that are shaft drive, and will use a 6 cell stick pack.

p.s. the df-03 has an extended chassis option for 7 cell packs that would fit some of the better 4s lipo's out there.

Update, I've placed my order with amainhobbies.com for am Academy SB V2 Pro. I paid $268 after shipping (with a coupon I got from e-mailing their sales dept.:yes:) and I should get it Dec 4th. Just in time to have it built and race ready for the B-Day (9th):party:. The reviews are good for it and it appears there are only two issues with the car, one is a steering mod to get full lock-to-lock travel, and the other is changing the plastic rear outdrives:surprised: for metal ones (which seem to be out of stock everywhere, hope my plastics will live long enough so I can get the steel without down time):neutral:.

They have cheaper versions, but to get it on par with the winningest 4wd buggies basically would take all the stuff that comes in the "pro" kit :no:and would cost twice as much in the long run...:oh:

I'll run it on MM,5700kv,3s 5000HV Maxamps untill I can get some modding on it done to run MM,Neu 1509/1.5Y,6s:gasp::rofl:
(3s packs on either side of the chassis, move the motor to the 12 o'clock position with a custom motor/driveline mount, or move the motor to the opposite side of the steering servo with the electronics mounted on the chassis brace or battery hold downs as the mount can be either way right-left) I'll have to get it to see what works out.

Just FYI (to nobody in particular) I picked up a used ZX-5 roller and dropped a 7700Kv in it. It runs great, I'm really happy with it. I am swapping out the 7700kv for a 5700kv, it was just too darn ballistic to be usable on a track. Heck of a lot of fun on the street tho!

I just received my ext kit from Mike and the quality is superb. I also just received my CRT.5 pro kit and it is very robust given its scale (1/12). The gears are similar to 1/8 scale diffs and should hold up to BL power just fine.

Gotta say the CRT.5 looks like a very neat car. Difficult toss up between that and one of the 1:10 buggies mentioned above.

I just finished my RCM ext chassis conversion and I'm taking it out for a its first run at the local indoor track tonight. At the momment I'm still running the buggy wheels, but would like to try full truck wheels to match the longer wheel base. Does anyone make a yellow 1/10 truck wheel that will fit the crt.5? I've seen them in white, black and chrome, but not yellow.

I know they are out there...just gotta find the vendor that sells 12mm hex hub 2.2 truck wheels.

That thing is wicked. The only thing is that I really try to stay away from ball differentials....but for such a light application, it looks like you are in good shape.
