Any news on the mount?

Everyones been very quiet on it, Tim. Jamie and Mike aren't even answering e-mails on it. I hope the project didn't fall through, especially Mike's center diff conversion.

I will speak up here.
The reality is that it's the middle of the Holiday rush for all of these guys and they probably don't have a free second to answer questions about a product that probably won't be out until next year. While talking with Jamie on a FLM Savage article I am doing, he mentioned that that my above posted picture was a minimal investment for new and existing customers. The new solution would require two new chassis plates and a few other parts - in essence it will be a much more expensive solution. On the Center Diff conversion, that it slick, but could again be a more expensive option. The real question is how much would you pay for either of those options over the regular conversion as posted? My weight distribution on the posted conversion is really pretty good with a slightly rearward CG when loaded with a motor and dual A123 4600 packs. I just don't think it's going to be that much better. I would say if I was to pick what Jamie worked on next it would be a Center Diff kit not the other front mounted transmission option. |
Good to hear it is still being looked at. I would be happy if the the chassis plates and engine mount were between $56 (current price for the extended chassis) and $100. It is going to need new dog bones and braces as well. Going from FLM's prices I think the cost of it won't be that much of an issue. Not compared to the brushless gear. If FLM realease this kit with everything and the MMM or tekin setups ever come out, brushless savage conversions will become common place. They will be a far better setup than an e-savage and I think a lot of e-savage owners would upgrade to the real savage converted. I can see a lot of new k4.6's on ebay in the future.

We have some pics up of the Tranny Forward design on our site www.fastlanemachine.com. I believe it will accept any lipo battery available? I have the kit on its way to Mike so he can do some testing with it to confirm the batteries and anything that would need to be changed.

Thanks for posting and the update. That's awesome. You can bet that I will be one of your first customers on this. I am putting together my FLM mid tanked nitro savage at the moment and I like it a lot. Should be good to see it too after mike kits it out. Can't wait.

The price is set at $140.00.
The kit includes everything to do the conversion from the tvps, battery hold down, motor mount, drive shafts, servo plate, screws and anything necessary to do an effortless conversion. |
Any plans for a center diff set up?
Or is it just the stock tranny? Either way, its SWEEEEEEEET |

Is does look great FLM, but don't you think that battery in the pictures is a little too big? It's practically hitting the spur gear! The slipper nut appears to be resting on top of the battery... Is it just a HUGE pack? I can't make out the writing on it.

As for the center diff setup: that one is in Mikes hands. If he wants to incorporate it into this design that is up to him. He came up with it first so we will leave it alone.
The pics on our site show the Forward Tranny design. Which will accept any battery. We are still trying to decide if we should offer a low budget conversion like the one pictured on this thread. The only draw back is battery limitations. The Forward Tranny will require no mods and will accept all Lipo cells. |

Is there a spot intended to be used as an ESC mount? looks like there is room behind the motor possibly. Also, where does the brake servo mount? I cant tell, is it still up front by the steering servo? Or is this intended to be run with a single speed locked tranny. Just wondering cuz I like to run the 2 speed and mechanical brake on my savage and would want to see a place to put the brake servo. Also, is this an extended wheelbase from the stock length? Would it be possible to move it all farther forward with an exended wheelbase? As for the low budget conversion... If you are going brushless, my opinion is you better not be to worried about budget or dont even bother. At this point the $140 kit you are offering is still one of the cheapest componenets of the conversion. Saveing $50 to have a marginal chassis setup is not move I would consider. But you know the market better than me, There may be a crowd out there for it. |
