Does anyone have any input on Warranty or Repair Service with Kontronik?

I wouldn't mind spending the extra cash IF I knew they would stand behind their product like Quark or Castle does. :yes:

I think you'd be hard-pressed to beat the value and service that Castle offers. I got impatient waiting for the MMM (who wouldn't be!) and bought a BK. I am now fighting for warranty coverage with them, and learning German, all at the same time.

I think that with ESCs, if you don't buy them from a company in your own country, you're going to have support issues due to the language barrier and also the shipping/customs issues. I probably would have been better off to roll the dice on a modded MM esc.

You are absolutely right on that one. It is hard enough dealing with warrenty issues when the company has to uphold the consumer laws in your own country, but when you have to deal with international laws it gets very tricky in deed:diablo:. In all actuallity it is near impossible to enforce anything across international borders. The only thing any of us may have in our favor is if the company is big enough to not want bad publicity dealing with the USA. Otherwise it is a crap shoot:na:.

I have been traveling around the world for many years now with the type of work that I do, and I use to think that customer service was bad in the USA. Now that I have seen what a lot of other countries are dealing with for customer service:rofl: the USA looks pretty good overall. We are spoiled with the civilized way that our elders have set things up for us. Good customer service outside of the USA is very rare and surprizing when I do see it. Germany was actually pretty good, in country for the most part. The UK (I was there 8 years) is level with the USA, but the rest of Europe has no idea of what customer service is. or why they should use it:lol:

One piece of advice I can give you is this. If you have an issue with a country that does not speak your language try to get someone to make the call for you that does speak their tounge. They will be much more receptive. :party:

I short-cirquited the BEC of my Jazz 80 and when i send it to Kontronik, the repaired it for free. :yipi:

Kontronik is cool and I'm going to get the Jive as well as the Kira 600 motors in the future.

Kontronik are good about servicing. I've read of many Kontronik ESCs getting repaired or replaced for free. They do charge for firmware upgrades, however.

The Jives won't be cheap, but if they're as good as the Jazzes are now, they're going to rock. Don't forget their price tag includes a high quality, integrated switching BEC.

Golly, did you guys notice that the onboard BEC is programmable?! Looks like one can program it from 5V to 6V if I'm reading correctly...

The Jive will be good, but I'm not sure if it will be as good as a Jazz due to the fact it won't have the car mode.

I've just sent Mike Franz a message regarding the car mode. Hopefully an answer will be returned by tuesday.

With proportional braking I would imagine it has car modes. What other kinds of models need proportional braking?

I just noticed that it does mention proportional brakes with the Jive controllers, but I would feels safer if Mike (Kontronik Mike:lol:) would just say it does have it.

One of the most unique features is they are watertight. No more worries with heavy offroading under wet conditions (Snow, mud ...). No dust can enter ... I know most of you guys wouldn't ever consider doing it, but i love to drive on snow and always worry how to protect my components the best way. The ESC is one (when not the) most expensive part.

And you can add your prefered cooling solution to the cooling plate to boost its power handling up to double its spec. A guy loosely related to kontronik as a saler of kontronik ESCs and motors stated on a german forum that it won't include reverse. But this is unconfirmed ...

The jazz ESC don't handle freewheeling perfectly. Aragon also experienced this phenomenon. Let's see what the Jives will do when you release the Throttle from full speed down to let's say half speed.

Having an integrated switching BEC up to 12s lipo is a great feature for High Voltage folks too.
