How much for the conversion if you already have a GMAXX ?.

RC-Monster Mike 09.12.2005 10:27 PM

I will work on getting some bones made to fit the conversion. The front is 85mm. The rear is approx. 102mm (measurements are bone to bone) with the spur gear facing the rear of the truck. The sizes change slightly running the tranny the other way.
If you already have a g-maxx, you would need everything except the chassis braces, so about $70 less than the whole kit.

Dafni 09.13.2005 02:07 AM

So the lower center plate will be different, now?

squeeforever 09.14.2005 10:23 PM

any idea of when they will be released? and what is the difference in the v1 and v2? if its that much better i might wait.

RC-Monster Mike 09.14.2005 10:43 PM

I would guess the release would be in about a month. There will only be one version. The v2 is the second prototype. The final release will be the result of the prototype testing and development.

No, Daf. Same lower battery plate as the g2 chassis.

squeeforever 09.26.2005 06:14 PM

any news about when there gonna be out?

Basketti 09.27.2005 01:26 AM

i have an emaxx and i was going to spend about $600 on it to make it stronger cause i like to bash and do jumps etc, but then i saw this and was wondering if it would be better if i get this conversion with a revo cause a revo is alot stronger than a e-maxx isnt it? and the suspension is cool.

Serum 09.27.2005 02:44 AM

According to Daniels experiences (he broke his first part last week on his e-revo) the revo is one strong truck!

Correct! (rodends hardly count ;) they just get tired) The busted part was a knuckle, btw. Hit a pole at almost WOT. Piece of luck there.

Yeah, in stock form, the Revo is much tougher than a Maxx. IMO.
Even the a-arms seem to have a clever design.

Basketti 09.27.2005 05:49 AM

yeah the arms look skinny and weak but they are actually pretty strong aye!! i've been watching some bashing vids and the revo looks REALLY strong!!

Looks like im gonna get one too :D So i will need to buy the conversion kit + the front and rear ends of a revo + a brushless set up?

RC-Monster Mike 09.27.2005 06:19 AM

Welcome to the forums, Basketti!
I agree-stock truck vs. stock truck-the Revo is much more durable than the e-maxx. The e-maxx can be hopped up to no end, though, and is a bit easier to mount the electronics on to. I wouldn't trade my e-maxx for anything(or my e-revo).

squeeforever 09.27.2005 05:09 PM

e.t.a.?

RC-Monster Mike 09.27.2005 08:35 PM

In production now-should be available soon. Just working out the details(drive shafts, for example).

crazyjr 09.27.2005 10:06 PM

Cool, can't wait

microdiladum 09.28.2005 11:33 PM

Mike, will the gorilla maxx motor mounts work with this chassis?

squeeforever 09.29.2005 05:05 PM

im almost positive that it will since they use the same x-braces.

RC-Monster Mike 09.29.2005 05:35 PM

The motor mount will work, though the motor won't mount on the lower positions without hitting the shocks. It will indeed work, just have to use holes other than the lower ones.

crazyjr 09.29.2005 10:54 PM

Hey Mike. Is there any chance that the Gorilla motor mount can work on the REVO tranny? It's an idea that i've been toying with, the motor centered in the chassis and the spur off-centered. also two speeds are cool. If not, Why not the tmaxx tranny? It's spur is more centered and may make better contact.

RC-Monster Mike 09.30.2005 06:14 AM

Never tried it. I am pretty sure the revo tranny isn't a simple drop in, as the mount holes don't line up. The t-maxx tranny may work, but the offset spur gear may make it difficult to get the pinion/spur mesh, depending on the gear sizes.

crazyjr 09.30.2005 07:14 AM

Thanks Mike, just tring to keep up with everybody else. Gotta try something origional every once in a while. That is why i also suggested a tmaxx tranny, because it has less off set than a revo

starscream 09.30.2005 12:52 PM

crazyjr,
I had my t-maxx tranny mounted on the gmass chassis but, if I remember correctly, it would only fit on backwards due to the length of the disc brake. I believe the revo tranny would also need to be mounted backwards using custom mounts because of the difference in the mounting holes.
Here's a few pics of the t-tranny on my gmaxx:
http://home.earthlink.net/~j1138/evo/temaxx21.jpg
http://home.earthlink.net/~j1138/evo/temaxx22.jpg
http://home.earthlink.net/~j1138/evo/temaxx24.jpg

The gmaxx motor mount rides verticle on the chassis close enough to the input shaft that a hole is cut in the center of the mount so the end of the slipper shaft with the nylock nut fits through. Due to the offset of the t-maxx tranny, this mount probably won't fit but, if you really wanted to use this mount you would first need to attach the mount on the rear instead of the front and compensate for the input shaft hole. The offset of the revo input shaft might actually help out in this case.

I'll be installing my revo tranny on the xbrace chassis so I'll know more about how it fits when I get my revo conversion.

If we could pre-order the conversion kits, I'd have mine ordered already

Dafni 09.30.2005 03:47 PM

James, when the G-Revo conversion becomes available, we here at mikes forum will be the first ones to hear it. I guess alot of people will busy themselfes on a Gorilla Revo in those winter days, getting it ready for spring

crazyjr 09.30.2005 08:10 PM

What's up Starscream. I already saw that setup and i have a couple of questions. How did you mount the emaxx motor plate to the tmaxx tranny? how close is the spur gear to the center of the chassis? The reason I'm asking is that i could use the single speed conversion and use the gorilla mount and run the tmaxx tranny backwards. Form what i see on you're truck it looks feasible.BTW, do you still have that truck?

starscream 09.30.2005 08:52 PM

crazyjr,
The only good reason to use the tmaxx tranny is the use of the automatic two speed. If you plan on running a single speed you are better off going with the gmaxx single speed kit.

The plate is a stock emaxx motor plate and is pretty easy to mount. You need a saw, drill w/ counter sink and preferably a dremel. This setup was bulletproof and just as efficient as a stock emaxx motor plate with an even lower CG. Also, this plate will not be effected by chassis flex.

I mounted the plate directly to the t-maxx tranny case via three screws counter sunk from the inside out. You can not see the nuts holding the plate on because they are behind the spur gear.
You will need to remove the excess material that is in the way of the drive line etc.

I don't have the truck anymore, I parted it out for $$$ for my e-Revo. (I know, I probably should have kept it  )

Here's a front view of the truck. the spur is off set enough to cause problems mounting the gmaxx motor mount plate.

crazyjr 09.30.2005 10:11 PM

Thanks alot Starscream. Did you actualy mount the motor plate upside down? I may have to try it. The thought of a 7xl or a 1930/5 on sixteen cells (or 5s lipo)with a two speed sounds like scary-fun. Thanks Starscream

microdiladum 10.06.2005 11:12 PM

I picked up my Revo roller yesterday off e-bay! Pretty sure I got a good deal. I just need to wait for it to arrive to be sure. I cant wait for the chassie to come out Mike. You think it will be out before Christmas. Gonna have to buy myself a Christmas present... mabye even a early Christmas present. ;)

squeeforever 10.06.2005 11:27 PM

e.t.a. is mid november

RC-Monster Mike 10.06.2005 11:28 PM

Due in mid November for release(Early Christmas present). :)

microdiladum 10.06.2005 11:46 PM

Yes! Gotta love the early christmas presents from yourself. :p

In case anyone was wondering here is the roller I picked up. Bought it now for $260 + $11.45. Came with a few exras. Going to sell things I dont need like chassie, tank, stock shocks, tranny and NIP proline 23mm hexes. I figure I will end up of paying around $200 after selling uneeded stuff. Mabye not the best deal but I am so far happy with the purchase. Havent arrived yet though.

crazyjr 10.08.2005 04:39 PM

Good on the mid november release date. I've got to come up with the money for essentialy a new truck

CCristo 10.18.2005 09:32 PM

Hey Mike,

Have you had time to figure out a price for the revo front/rear suspensions? Also, would you be willing to give a discount to people who buy an entire G2R (suspension, chassis and GMaxx tranny)? i don't have a revo or an emaxx, so I'm going to need a lot of stuff :)

RC-Monster Mike 10.18.2005 10:40 PM

I will likely offer a few combo packages, including the front/rear/drive shafts/tranny, and various levels(without the tranny, for instance). I will try to make it a one stop shop for those looking to get it done without painstakingly going through the site and figuring out what they need.

dardevil 10.21.2005 05:15 AM

hello with am all I new in this forum and I waits with a great interest until the kit is available but I have questions on this subject
- it will leave an option to fix accumulators lipos on the frame?? - limps on revo will assemble itself above or it is that of the emaxx only???

- and for is the central Cardan joints they those of the revo or the emaxx???

I am chaus as the ember I really awaits with one very very great impatience the availability of this kit:Love:

Dafni 10.21.2005 05:27 AM

Hi Daredevil, welcome to the RCM Forum!

Mike will supply the needed center bones (cardans) for this conversion. They will be steel.

You can fit Lipos on the G-Revo/G-Maxx, not a problem.

Say, Daredevil, what nationality are you, if I may ask??

DAF

RC-Monster Mike 10.21.2005 08:30 AM

Welcome to the forums, daredevil. The conversion will be available in a few short weeks. I will be sure to have everything that is needed in stock to complete the trucks for those that need the parts, etc., as well as be available to answer quesations that may come up during assembly.

dardevil 10.21.2005 02:41 PM

thank you for your answer, I am French

Serum 10.21.2005 02:55 PM

Hi Daredevil!

Fellow european! welcome to the forum!

the only few words i know french is;
Parlez vous Angles s'il vous plaît...

Respect for you typing in English!

That revo is sweet project for sure! Dafni is the father of the Revo conversion. :p

Do you know what BL setup you are going to use?

Dafni 10.21.2005 03:10 PM

Actually, the father of this particular convesion here is George. But thank you for the credit, Serum. :)

Good to have another eurolander here, daredevil.
Have I ever e-mailed with you? I exchanged some mails with some frenchies about the BL Revo once.

Serum 10.21.2005 03:23 PM

Perhaps i am the father of the HB conversion then.. Don't know.. i can't remember the mother.. (yeah, funny thing, come to think of it.... A little girl stepped to me in the supermarket (3-4 years old) she said 'DADDY' to me i was in a rather spontanious mood.. I looked at her mother and said.. "Sorry girl.. Can't really remember your mother.." what an ass i am.. The mother laughed though.. Perhaps it wasn't the most pedagogical thing to do...
