brushlessboy16 04.21.2008 04:43 PM

yep that is the plan :D

Takedown 04.21.2008 05:29 PM

When was your stuff shipped out on? Im excited to see this thing finally get completed.

brushlessboy16 04.21.2008 05:40 PM

Its being processed as we speak. all of the item s are reserved for me. UGH THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME...

What do u guys think about the motor mount?

rcmonkey 04.22.2008 06:07 PM

A simple L shaped bracket that mount on the CD holes would be easiest.

brushlessboy16 04.22.2008 06:50 PM

yeah i was thinking something like that. but a little more bracing, to keep it from flexxing. like this
http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/atta...9&d=1208784154

rcmonkey 04.23.2008 07:38 AM

If you use decent thick metal you wouldn't need the bracing, what metal are you planning to use?

brushlessboy16 04.23.2008 08:00 AM

I have no idea, either Steel or Aluminum but i dont have anything to brace it with

brushlessboy16 04.23.2008 03:25 PM

hey guys i just recently realized that the Imax B5 charger is dc only :D :slap: so i was on the hunt for a power supply, my freind happend to have one for a Xbox 360... i knewthat there was a good chance it was 12v, but the thing puts out 16.5a!!!!!
i got it for free, mind you that its an 80 dollar PSU

_paralyzed_ 04.23.2008 04:17 PM

all chargers are dc, as batteries are dc, some chaargers also have an onboard power supply and can run off ac, but that would be a special feature and clearly noted

brushlessboy16 04.23.2008 04:19 PM

i know, i just didnt read the fine print

brushlessboy16 04.24.2008 07:02 AM

Good News, My motor, Battery and Charger shipped out this morning!!!
now i only need to wait 6-21 days for it to arrive...-_-'

And i never knew that the Xbox 360 is such a power whore, 16.5a is alot for a game system

PSU- so far i have stripped the connector off the wires, now im looking to the 12v bullet connector.... should be sweet when its done...

Takedown 04.24.2008 07:41 AM

Shouls be here next week. Probably wed-thursday. Good luck!

brushlessboy16 04.24.2008 07:53 AM

yay... now i just need to devise a mount... lol

Hey guys, just another update, the Motor, Charger and battery are Officially in transit!! its taken over a month for the order to even leave UnitedHobbies... i thought i was going to go stir crazy..

I think they were B/s'in me cuz my order was "processing" for 4 days.. As soon as i emailed them it changed to "shipped"..
Then it was another two days for the mail carrier to Physically put in on the plane...or boat... but anyways

I was talking to various people who have done conversions like I am. i would like to thank Sikeston3m for his advice and inspiration (DD revo) and Crazyjr who has run multiple mm's on 5s... His were also the yellow label so hoping for the best:whistle:

I also found this in the latest RC Driver mag

brushlessboy16 04.28.2008 10:37 AM

Just a little update guys, i just ordered a few things off of tower..
-Short 80mm dogbone
-Antenna and mount
-Stock wing

i ripped the antenna and mount off the raze when it was still nitro, so i picked up a new one, I think i found the right dogbone off of a Associated B4, and the only reason i bought the wing is because i would need a new one cuz mine will get ground down from wheelies... and that it was only $1.89.... Beats 20 bux for proline :D

rcmonkey 04.28.2008 10:40 AM

The B4 dogbone is 1/10, the Raze is 1/8, they use different sizes of dogbone.

brushlessboy16 04.28.2008 03:34 PM

They shouldnt be that far off, they should fit

rcmonkey 04.28.2008 04:35 PM

Trust me, there is a big difference between the two. There is far too much play, especially for a brushless conversion:wink: Look at the pictures below that I have just taken, the first shows 1/8 and 1/10 dog bones together and the other two show them inside the drive cup on the centre diff.

brushlessboy16 04.28.2008 05:02 PM

Uh oh.... :slap:

brushlessboy16 04.28.2008 05:15 PM

Ok plan B...

Cut a current Dogbone to size then weld it back together, grind smooth

rcmonkey 04.29.2008 03:06 AM

Thats what I was thinking, what type of welder do you have?

Hey atleast if you ever get a B4 you'll have a spare:wink:

Fun to do, just make sure you get it aligned perfectly or it will wobble.

brushlessboy16 04.29.2008 06:53 AM

yep i knowill probably make a jig for it, or if it does wobble, just bend it back into shape

Takedown 04.29.2008 07:22 AM

Or dont go threw the hassle and buy the proper length dogbone.

brushlessboy16 04.29.2008 07:30 AM

Takedown i already told you, this is just for giggle, a temp fix until i buy the right one.

brushlessboy16 05.01.2008 09:16 AM

Im at school now, ill probably finish soldering all the capactior rack next block.. i have the Aluminum angle at my house... its 2x2 1/8th inch thick. Ill probably put together a build sheetfor anyone who is interested.

brushlessboy16 05.02.2008 09:27 PM

all i have to say is IT LIVES! everything is mounted except the esc.. its ziptied i did a little test outside of my house and the car works great, except the cogging, the first time i floored it it sounded like i blew a pinion  Would increasing the start power help??

Takedown 05.02.2008 10:26 PM

Increase the start power and make a dramatic curve in the begining of the throttle curve setup. That helped me.

Takedown 05.02.2008 10:28 PM

BTW, We need pics!

brushlessboy16 05.02.2008 11:50 PM

Any ideas on timing for outrunner?

rcmonkey 05.03.2008 07:11 AM

Sweet, we definatly need pics:wink: How is the shaft secured in the outrunner?

brushlessboy16 05.03.2008 07:19 AM

flatspot on the shaft and setscrew

rcmonkey 05.03.2008 03:43 PM

Ok thanks, what did you do for a motor mount in the end? Would you mind measuring the width of the can, the length of the can and the length of the shaft?

Cheers

brushlessboy16 05.03.2008 05:44 PM

The width of the can is...50mm
the shaft is 65mm long
pics will be up in a minute...

Five-oh-joe 05.03.2008 06:25 PM

NICE! Looks good; fast as hell too!

rcmonkey 05.03.2008 06:40 PM

Thanks, thats pretty quick:smile: Whats your runtime like?

brushlessboy16 05.03.2008 06:56 PM

I Gunned it at 48 on a freshly repeaked pack and cool motor and esc.
I am getting about 25 minutes of Runtime till the cutoff
im on my second set of rear tires already though. :D

rcmonkey 05.03.2008 07:05 PM

As in 48mph?:surprised: Sweet

brushlessboy16 05.03.2008 08:13 PM

Indeed 48 mph. i realized i never actually did have my pack peaked... i had it at 4.1v per cell. i just set the charger to delta peak and the cells are each at 4.19

Five-oh-joe 05.03.2008 08:22 PM

What kind of temperatures are you seeing on the motor, ESC and batteries?
