It's N2 they use.. don't know whats the reaso for that.. And if it's possible, i heard it from 2nd hand..
|
Like I said, I can imagine they use N2 instead of air to exclude oxygen. O2 is corrosiv, in combination with light it makes polymers brittle. May be a reason. Who knows.
Most physical properties of N2 are very similar to air. Possible, well, it would be no problem, technically. |
In motorsport, the reason for using N2 instead of air in tyres is due to the H2O vapour making your pressures more inconsistent as the temps increase/decrease rather than the O2 or CO2 content.
Not so critical for a trip to the shops though. They wouldn't worry about oxygen content making rubber brittle in a tyre with an expected life of less than an hour so that can't explain it's use in racing.(anyway, what about the air on the outside?) It's just because of water vapour messing up your pressures i always thought |
Does this conclude are science for the day? I feel smarter now. :) Made my brain stretch and grow. I am up to three cells now instead of two. I say go with the gmaxx. Great chassis and you can extended it at will. A few screws and you have a new longer chassis. Jmo

Oh yeah,the topic.
Definately G-maxx,far more intelligent piece of design(x-brace),spares available, choice of wheel base, lighter, very strong, lots of good people swear by them,Mike sells them, etc, etc. I'm not keen on Bombproof. |
I was kinda enjoying the science class for today.
3 words...... g maxx. |
That's 1 1/2 words. thanks for the science lesson
|
Oh, yeah, thanks Gustav! I forgot about the water. Good point. Thanks for clearing this up. You must be right.
But still, you can get dry air cheaper than N2. But this would mean you have to use these bottles instead of a compressor. Anyway, science class is over. C ya tomorrow (or tonight, in Serums case ;) ) |
Well fellas I want to say thanx for the MR. Wizard lessons I was in total aww of what you guys were talking about and I was being quiet cause I had no bizness jumping in that convo but me and mike have talked and I will be getting the Gmaxx Chassis I did notice the version 2 and 3 what is better for a guy just starting in the electric race field:rolleyes:
|
There is only one available g-maxx chassis version-the g2. This, with the chassis extension(Aluminum or CF) is a sweet setup for racing. The best available IMHO.
