I have 4 EMaxx trucks, two of which are SuperMaxx (UE & FLM) trucks with extended chassis and UE Mono blocks installed making the wheel base approx16.5 inches. So my SuperMaxx's have the same wheel base as the MMT. It has 3 inches over the stock E-Maxx setup. Yes it is much beefier for sure. So yes we all konw the size of the XTM MMT. No one is questioning that fact. What I was writing about was the aerodynamics of the XTM MMT truck trying to run high speed passes, and needing some kind of down force to keep it on the ground for better handling. So installing a wing and maybe some kind of front spoiler may help with that issue as stated earlier. Plus the materials used in the XTM MMT make it a great buy for an out of the box RTR vehicle. It is by far more superior than an EMaxx for what you get in the box at the MSRP.

My aerodynamic problems are coming from the front end. The bumper is big and has alot of frontal area. I'm going to swap to the XLB bumper and hopefully reduce that front end area some.

Their you go guys....my camera man needs training...lol. I will be going out again soon, with more upgrades ;) Ordered more parts this morning.

JERRY2KONE 04.22.2008 03:31 PM

Wow! ! ! ! !

Now that is impressive. Great work on the truck and on getting the info to us and video taped as well. Now I must ask with everything that you have in that truck including the batteries, ESC, and the cost of the vehicle itself, how much money do you have in the project? Thanks for sharing that with us.

Hard to tell on the money. Cost of the truck was ~200 as a roller, Neu motor, 200, ESC 100, Batteries around 200 for the pair and DX2 around 150.

Just think this way. In the long run you will actually be cheaper than the guys who are still using nitro.

BrianG 04.22.2008 03:50 PM

Good job!

About the calc issue: Did you account for tire ballooning? Also, I tried to account for an average of many body styles (aerodynamics) , but maybe was a tad overzealous.

JERRY2KONE 04.22.2008 03:57 PM

Considering.

Considering that a lot of seasoned guys have tried to achieve what you have just done and spent two or three thousand $$$$$ or even more trying to get near what you just did, less than $1000 is not a bad deal. Way to go jemaxx.

Thanks....

I think the main thing that has been so hard is just keeping the truck on the ground and going straight.

I couldn't really tell on the tire ballooning part since they don't seem to swell to bad, but nonetheless they do though.

xcntrk 04.22.2008 04:41 PM

This is such BS! You can clearly see a sneaky swap out for a nitro XTM at the start of each pass!!!!!

Just kidding.. Very nice work!

jzemaxx 04.22.2008 06:43 PM

Well got 12S coming and another Neu motor coming as well. Might as well try to keep up with you guys....hehe

jzemaxx 04.22.2008 06:54 PM

 I'm a poor guy. My daughter has all the money . I haven't seen 60mph yet, so my set up is not as good as yours. Great job on setting that new record. Get a radar gun and get some reading with that too in front of the camera. I think most people would honor a record with a radar gun.

aqwut 04.22.2008 07:27 PM

First of all, Great job JzeM... Great video, but ur camera man sucks... LOL
Great commentary!... hahaah
Can't say my setups are better than yours, I haven't even seen 10MPH yet either.... no GPS, no Radar gun... Gotta get me a GPS... a buddy of mine have a radar guns.. I'm still working on some high speed stuff, but I'll be using Monster trucks tires...:intello:

That's awesome man... and those runs were with the 12S100A ESC right?..

MTBikerTim 04.22.2008 08:34 PM

Once my savage is finished and I have a bit of cash I think I'll buy the eagle tree gps. A tad expensive but it's small and I won't get hit.

Great video though. That is impressively fast.

We did the radar gun already. I have a bushnell, and its right on with my GPS. But at these speeds its getting very dangerous. Last week I ran the truck and lost it and almost hit me and my buddy. We have to get close to the truck to get accurate readings and its just getting risky. Losing a limb is not worth it....

Ok cool. I might get a little tripod and mount mine to it. I've seen some guys do that and all they do is use rubber band to hold the trigger.

Yeah Turnigy ESC.

I tried the Monster truck wheels and tires....problem is ballooning. Can't keep the suckers from turning into pizza's even with taping and gorilla glue to hold them on the rims. I had no choice....

jzemaxx 04.29.2008 08:22 PM

12S and 20T pinion are now ready. This weekend we should have a new Monster truck record again. I hope to destroy my 76.0mph pass....I'm crossing my fingers for 80+.

aqwut 04.30.2008 01:35 AM

Good Luck DUDE.. I'll be waitin' for the Video again...

JERRY2KONE 04.30.2008 02:50 AM

Dude

I can assure you that there will be a lot of guys waiting to read your next post and see the next round of videos to catch you breaking a new record:yipi:. From the sounds of things you have a sure competitor for next years fastest R/C contest:yes:. I think you picked a great truck to do this with:mdr:. I still think you should try running a spoiler on the front end to help with keeping the truck on the ground for better control:eyes:. Good luck with your testing and not hurting yourself or anyone else.

I hope not to get anyone hurt or killed...lol. Went back out yesterday with my buddies Stampede to break the record which is 71mph held by one of the guys on the traxxas board from Atlanta. We got 73.2mph with an 8XL and BK9920 on 5S. I have some pics I'll post today.......ugly accident on the last pass of the day which was the record setting pass.
