Yeah, that's a bad idea. We don't recommend it.

The calculator also is WAY off for charge times -- you don't EVER need to charge a capacitor that slowly. A .1 ohm resistor (yes 1/10 ohm) is enough to keep the spark from happening.

The only thing that suffers from the spark is the connectors.

And they are cheap enough and simple enouigh to replace when they wear down.

See i am not up on electronics and how they work but when i heard about a resistor i though why use one of those if castle don't recommend it?
I am running a V1 with no problems to this day.

Yeah, and with a resistor, you're missing out on the big manly spark that happens when you plug in a fully charged 6S pack! ARrr r rr arrr arrrrrrrr. :intello:

Yeah sparks are normally bad, but these sparks mean hi powa goodness is about to be unleashed that will rock your world. And don't forget 'chicks dig sparks' :mdr:

Ahh, bed time.

Amen!

It also drives fear into the hearts of any nearby nitro-heads :diablo:

I wish I had known about the spark before I plugged in my (6S) batts the first time.

....scared the ever-living $*** out of me.

The 4S set-up doesn't seem to spark:neutral:

Sparks only make you look cool if you dont jump like a little girl when it happends.

bl-is-future 08.12.2008 02:54 PM

so dont jump like a little girl and you will be fine

Love it! The 6s spark is half the fun. I can't wait to see what 12s does......:diablo:

bl-is-future 08.13.2008 08:54 AM

or 20s for that matter.

What's_nitro? 08.13.2008 02:42 PM

:surprised: Yeah, that would be some spark! It would probably incinerate the connector! With 84V you would need one of those 100V Ultra-HV controllers!

I accidentally used the wrong connector and put 10s into my MM and Castle BEC - It did give a rather large spark!!!

Unsprisingly the controller did nothing - I thought thats odd so tried it again! Equally large spark! DOH!

I then realised the mistake and plugged the correct leads in! Everything still worked - thank you Castle for building controllers for idiots like me!
