I’ve ordered just about everything I could find and it all should be in the next or two.. YOU GUYS ROCK... :intello:

Here is something else I can do / add (depth chargers) but on land.. (Plan “B”)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExA69...eature=related I was watching the vid and gave me the idea of being able to drop “small timed” explosives as I go blowing up behind me after a sec or two.. I also found some large spaps (white things that look like sperm, but filled with gun powder) and was thinking about dispersing them behind me, that way when Jnev, metmalman, Rschoi_75, cornolio, etc come up behind me they.. Well you know..  :oh:

Just throwing them out there.. (literally):lol:

I was really searching for torpedo fire mechanizes and HOW run it on compressed gas when the Depth charger thing came up.. Just incase I cant get my rockets to go on gunpowder I can use a compressed gas system from a sub.. I don’t know (it’s all still in it’s embryonic stage), but it's coming together nicely and I thinkcan do it all for under grand (?) we’ll see… :yipi:

I was also able to Fab up some of the different rockets I’ll be testing this weekend to see which one work the best.. I should probably Video it, could be funny..

Thanks again to everybody for their suggestions and comments, I’ll post another update once I receive all of the parts and progress is being made. Should be in about a week (hopefully)

Have a GREAT WEEK TEAM..

I can't really think of any recommendations as everyone pretty much covered it, but this will definitely be the most unique rc I have ever seen I think. I will surely be watching this thread for updates, and so far by the looks of things, I will be able to make the 19th for the bash no problem. :yipi: And with 3 WORKING cars this time.

Good luck on the rest of the project! Looking forward to the updates.

just a fyi, if you're looking for a continuous rotating servo, you could modify pretty much any old servo..

If you really want to scare them, have another M80 go off about 0.25 seconds after the first. With any luck, it will ignite the cloud of flour!

Damn good idea, I will be doing that to my employees! (Imagine having to work for me, scary huh?!?!?!)

jhautz 10.02.2008 01:54 AM

Now we all know why he built that concrete bunker in his backyard. To hide from the rocket fire. LOL

This thing sounds more like a BattleBot than an RC. I'm interested to see how it turns out. Make sure you have some video running for the maiden run. Somehow I foresee some serious carnage due to some sort of misfire.

What exactly do you do for work, lincpimp? Just make sure they all sign the waiver that morning....

jayjay283 10.02.2008 02:01 AM

when I was about 15 I took those rocket engines and ground all the inside up into power, whats it magnesuim and gun powder and threw a match in there and 15 ft cloud of white smoke. My eyelashes never did grow back right

I own an auto body and paint shop. We mainly do collision repair, and sometimes custom stuff and restos...

I have a running joke that if anything happens to anyone at work we will throw them in the ditch across the street, no liability if they are off the property! And my word against their's!

Shoud move to Cali, they really do that with day laborors. Not speaking of any actual events I witnessed or will ever speak of.

I did that once (note the key word there). I ground up 4 smaller engines and tried to pack them into a cardboard tube to make a larger engine. When I ignited it, it just exploded. I was at a safe distance and so unharmed by the shockwave that blew the wing off of the Radio Shack RC car that I had attached the engine to. Those are the heavy, ABS plastic wings, so it was quite a blast.

Just don't forget to throw some lime in there with them. Then it will just be YOUR word! :gasp:

i just had the funniest idea, take this truck to a race, then when you're loosing or winning or whatever, randomly stop, spin around and wait for the other racers to come around, then fire at them.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

one question tho, what are the gullwing doors going to be made of?, are you just going to cut the doors out of a lexan body?

Well..
I’ll be taking a page out of the Rock Crawler book of customizing; I’ll be using small tubing soldered as the frame and skinning it with ligt but durable alu, painted to math the existing body of course.. :intello:

BINGO..
YOU”VE GOT IT!!! :yipi: and Unfortunately so will the boys at our So-Cal bashes,:lol: that is until someone else builds one too..

I like the way you think!!

OOOo by the way, Welcome to Monster!! this place is GREAT.. lots of extremely bright and helpful people full of great and unusual ideas

Have a great one..

Not a bad next project haa Jordan.. :) It's almost as cool as your build..

jordan... 10.02.2008 07:40 AM

lol thanks Shaun. One thing, how did you know i was going to post even before i posted  ^^thats phil

Cant wait to see this thing come together, a brushless truggy with missiles, machine gun and gull wing doors  I don't know why anyone hasnt thought of this before

have a good one!

BL_RV0 10.02.2008 09:25 AM

You should put tracks on it. That'd be badass, if you could take them off. Maybe build or buy some tracks and use some 40 series mulcher tires to keep them on?
Edit: It's BATTLE, not BATTEL. Might want to change your sig.

Andrew32 10.02.2008 02:53 PM

so who wants to take this to ROAR? I tihnk we can give a compelling presentation:whistle:

its kinda like speed racer

ProjectX Class- drivers stand would need a bullet proof glass enclosure:lol:

Ha ha. I saw that swivel joint thing at servo city Arct1k linked a while back and it gave me ideas of doing the same thing. However, I wanted to mount the rocket pod onto the swivel and have the gun hard mounted onto the cab frame with a camo Hummer truck body. I didn't think servos would hold up to small arms fire too well, but then again I was dreaming up the greatest YouTube RC vid of all time, with a panning paintball gun firing at a victim Radioshack car, then nailing it with exploding rocket. Then I realized I was 31 with kids and my wife would F#$%#g kill me if I made such a thing. Oh well, lots of luck to you.

I know ServoCity has non-centering 360* servos (continous spin) for helis that would work great w/ the turret. I was thinking of using Estes mini rockets. The small ones that use the 1/2A series engines. You could go soviet ICBM style and use a big engine bastard too. lol. Rocket ignitors are really easy and useful for setting all sorts of incendiary devices off with.

I also had a ton of estes rocket engines as a kid. I took a bunch apart and kept the powder to make my own fireworks (CO had strict fireworks laws, you may have seen the giant smoke snake episode of South Park and I know what I mean.)
One of the best was the powder in a cardbord container mixed with cut-up match heads. The powder would explode making a great big smoke mushroom cloud with flaming match heads flying out in all directions. These could also be fired into the air with a slingshot and detonated midair with great effect.

Rocket engines also found their way into all sorts of projects and toys. Rocket tyco RCs, a rocket RC boat, even a rocket Pinewood derby car. That had a bigass D engine too. In its one and only run, it set the landspeed record pinewood derby cars, as well as highest flying PWD car after it hit a sloped curb down the street, and lastly most obliteratied PWD car when the engine exploded to deploy the chute (there was none.) It rained matches and toothpicks. lol
[btw: Booster stage engines can be used to ignite other incendiary devices in the upper parts of the rocket. I'm just saying.]
Good luck and don't kill anything. Don't aim that thing at children or pets.

lincpimp 10.02.2008 06:00 PM

I would suggest using a small semi auto 22lr gun like my wife's walther 22, but maybe that would be a bad idea if the radio glitches....

thephilonator 10.02.2008 08:08 PM

i think that putting an actual fire arm on a r/c truck might be a not-so-good idea lincpimp. BB gun would be good tho....

22 is only a flesh wound:lol:

TexasSP 10.02.2008 08:23 PM

Many RC tanks have airsoft guns that fire.......

What's_nitro? 10.02.2008 11:14 PM

Just put a taser on the front and run it into people's legs... Use that smoke screen to sneak up on them. :oh:

so suppose a .308 is a broken limb and a 50cal is paralysis eh?

thats not a bad idea. however both bb gun and a taser would be better.

TDC57 10.03.2008 02:50 PM

Please stop with the gun talk!..

Just for clarification sake..

No live ammunition (with the exception of the rockets) which were purchased at the LHS will be used on this build or should ever be used out of the context it was designed for..

This is project is purely being built for fun, and show purposes, I'm not going to be shooting at anyone or any public or private structures, all of the firing (when I get to that point) will be done under strict supervision and in a controlled environment..,: I cringe (butt whole puckers) when I read some of the past comments. If this kind of talk continues I will requests that this thread be delighted and I will shelve this project.

I'm not looking to give RC OR (lord forbid Mike RCM) a bad name  or any extremists groups a blueprint for a future weapon:diablo:; this is just toy, a toy that will have the capability of shooting out paintballs and toy rockets.

I really do deeply appreciate all of helps and comments (you guys rock) but let’s keep try to keep all forward comments sensible and non-harming.

Please do not post how to make bombs or any weapons on this thread  I don’t have any desire to build or even want to know how it's done. Something’s we (average Joe) just don’t need to know.

I'm writing this post because I received a call from my DAD (whom I love and respect) informing that what I'm doing is wrong and that I'm / this thread to going in the wrong direction of what its initial intent was. :oh: To have the coolest RC toy ever.. :intello:

Don’t get me Wrong I want your posts, I want your comments, I like the jokes but lets keep them all above board moving forward (shall we)..

Thank you all for your time and I wish everybody a great weekend

Shaun.

P.S. Now back to business:
Does anyone know who I can contact regarding a customize roll cage (?). after closely reviewing my options I feel that my XRay Truggy will be the best build for this project since it initial layout is very low to begin with and since I'm using a Slash body I’ll have twice as room as the stock truck.

bdebde 10.03.2008 03:06 PM

Hey, make it shoot NERF rockets

What's_nitro? 10.03.2008 03:07 PM

No problem man. I don't think you need to build a REAL war machine either!

I do think the taser would be cool, though. If not only for looks.

Noo... :lol::lol:

I will be testing my rockets this weekend (should be blast) :yipi::intello: I need to find a fin system that will work or at least keep them flying straight. I've never even seen these rockets go but it's my understanding that they will fly for 3 sec before going dead. I'm hoping that means under 100 yards..

I'll forward vido for all to see it should be to say the lest interesting..

Thanks for your time and I don’t mean or want to be a kill Joy. I just don’t want anther call from my father telling me I'm disappointing him..

TDC57 10.03.2008 03:18 PM

Here is something I found I really like the looks of. I need to add front lights and some kind of a battering ram shield up front..

What's_nitro? 10.03.2008 03:21 PM

Looks like a Sci-Fi B-movie prop... "The Big Rig Werewolf!"

TDC57 10.03.2008 03:26 PM

Not sure , could possible be ??
I was goggling last night "mad max " looking for examples when i saw this BAD BOY..

TexasSP 10.03.2008 04:06 PM

Maybe for shipping oil across the Iraqi desert?

lincpimp 10.03.2008 04:28 PM

Yeah, stick to airsoft, live ammo was just a joke! I would test the rockets out, you may find that they will have decent range.

bruce750i 10.03.2008 04:52 PM

This build reminds me of Jessy James's old show on Discovery "Monster Garage".

I can't wait to see this thing action before the on board wire guided missiles ignites the napalm storage system.

TDC57 10.03.2008 08:03 PM

Yaaaaa I got some of the needed parts today: :party:

1. Fully Auto 6mm paint gun :intello:
2. (1) 9mm air tank & (2) 4.5mm tanks
3. (1) electronic hopper that feeds (18) balls per second and holds 200 shoots
4. (1) flex thing pipe thing to relocate the tanks
5. (1) case of 2000 shoot paintballs

Stay tuned as future updates will include:
How to cut down and modify a full auto paint gun to fit an 1/8 Truggy (removing the hand grips, cutting down the barrel, relocating the gun electronics and MORE!).. :oh:

I’ll hopefully have two experimental video completed this weekend :yipi:

Rocket and pod testing
Fully auto testing

Thanks for your time and have a great one

Shaun.

I still need a name and number of a custom frame fabricator (any suggestions??)

P.S.
Most importantly I got new bottle of Ketel One (Good times tonight) :intello:

Have a great weekend everybody..
