Yeah Mark showed those to me on that other forum. Ever since then they've been bookmarked on Tower. I will order them eventually. (Sometimes I get tired of having the same conversations on more than forum. I'm thinking of dropping TRX for this reason and the TRX E-Maxx forum with the exception of a few great Aluminum Maxx projects (mine included) is just full of sad noobs now. And I've kinda graduated from that whole scene:lol:) I have gotten a chance to run the truck since the last couple of mods including the monoblock because I'm still waiting on the True Tracks. They should be here this week! :yipi: VIDS:intello:

Its looking great Kcaz! So when is it going to get the center diff treatment like mine? :mdr:

The beast is done... Not really... at all, in fact I've still got stuff in trucks on their way to me lol, but at this point I'm happy with it finally.

It is a pleasure to drive espcially with the recent upgrades: Airtronics MX-3FG FFHS-2 2.4Ghz, 2x Ext wheelbase, and with the RPM True Track I know I can now take a poor landing. Oh and the mod I had to do with the UE dogbone has held up fine so far. It hasn't been above 80*F or rattled out. |
Looking nice man. All that aluminum makes me nostalgic for an e-maxx. However, not enough to get another.

Bottom line> What should I do? Short of just wait on Mike to ship some Maxx CD and motor mounts... Thanks, Zack |
Hmmm, I had this problem a couple moths ago... I made a real back yard temporary fix by bending (then bend allows for a tight fit) and cutting a old allen key then tapping it into place...
It's been holding up with no worries since then. Alien |
Smart! I will prolly try that! What are the guys running mega power doing? Does anybody make an upgrade?

Okay that will happen 2moro, thanks Linc! I'll post results. Now that I've got the tranny open, what should I do/cut out/remove since I don't use 1st gear??
Thanx, Zack |
I'm using a G-Maxx tranny, but I did the same thing as Lincpimp. I broke the original with the stock Titans and used a bent allen key and a bench vice. After the G-maxx tranny, I used a drill bit blank.
Mcmaster has them for cheap, or your local hardware store should have some. Make sure that when you "press" it in with the bench vice, that the ends are nice and "mushroomed" so it doesn't come out again. It will tear the plastic case, and just make a mess in aluminum. |
I had the stock pin sheer into 3 pieces and get mushed into the output gear- not a pretty sight. I used a short piece of allen key too but JBWelded it in place- no problems since. As for what to do with an open tranny (sure theres a good joke in there somewhere), I suggest simply bolting the 2nd gear out put gear (smaller one closest the motor mount side of the tranny) to the dog carrier- basically a cheaper version of buying the gmaxx single speed conversion kit, but has the same effect of locking it into second permanently.
|
Go to the g-maxx site : http://www.gorillamaxx.com/
And if you click on the G1 single speed they sell just the coupler for 12 bucks. Get that and loose the 1st gear idlers gear to isolate the top shaft gear. You can also replace the 1st gear lower gear with a spacer if you like, will cut down on a little weight. |
Zack the G-Maxx single speed tranny rocks! In fact believe it or not I still have the roll pin!! Not broken yet. I responded in that other forum...drill bit or allen wrench and you'll be fine.
|
Thanx guys! That has been takin care of due to the great, quick advice!
Then I found this: http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0820.jpg I don't know if you can tell from the picture but it's a pin shaped slot in the gear. When the pin pulled halfway out and broke of it got in the mesh. Maybe still usable? It doesn't really matter if it is still usable or not, it was only $2.75 so I bought one... More parts are one the way! Addicted? ...Nooo... lol Maybe but I just really set out to have a practical beater with super rare apperences at the track. This MMM combo really makes life miserable for stock Traxxas parts. LOL Only about 30% of the steering componants are stock and most of the tranny. That is all that is left! ... And they are on the way out. ...And Neil the"joke in there somewhere" nearly had me rolling. LOL |
Keep an eye on that MX3 FHSS...I had one and it would just unbind itself while I was running the truck. Airtronics replaced it for me, but the same thing kept happening...then I heard of it happening to a few other people. I finally swapped to a Futaba FASST radio, and never had a problem with it, but I hated the way the Tx felt in my hand...now I have a Spektrum DX3.0 and couldn't be happier!

Oh, cool, glad you got an updated one...those I had frustrated me so bad!!! I may have to check out the new MX3, because I love the way they feel. Thanks!

No prob!!

Updates!
New Parts! traxxas CVDs installed with MIP cups. (They allow me to use RPM arms as they are deeper.) Proline Steering! Durbo 3mm Monster ball links. (this the the most needed part, life saver!) Associated Dogbone springs. (recommended by Mark) Traxxas front tubes. Six blue and 4 red Zipties. I've snapped well over ten Traxxas rod ends so I got the Monsters they have to be drilled out and shortened but they are rock solid! The blue zipties are the wrong color blue, so I'll most likely just be using the red. Used to limit travel when I hit the track or bash in parking lots or in the street. (rare) Here are some current pics: http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0861.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0860.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0866.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0867.jpg Here I am at a track with no idea what I'm doing as far as driving goes. It was flooded also. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0824.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0827.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0829.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0830.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0834.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0835.jpg More pics to come in a few minutes... |

Thanks Mark! http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0882.jpg Got a headlight! Here is where it mounts. 16mm White Flood Light from XLights. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0876.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0875.jpg The new chassis finally allowed me to install my Proline steering!! Its great! http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0870.jpg |
[QUOTE=Kcaz25]I thought I'd give Integy a try the shafts were cheap and solved my current shaft problems, but just after 3 runs i had broken 3 of them 2 different ways! The generic dual rate springs I got are terrible. I should have gotten others like everybody said... (better ones are on their way now!)
I will install the body clip retainers on the Proline F-650 body I'm getting! The red spacers go on the Traxxas tubes and are doing great! One of my best purchases on this truck was the Dubro Monster ball links!! I had to mod them a little, but they are rock solid. If you want to know what I did just say so. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0868.jpg I discovered at the WB length of just over 15" I'm and longer(and wider) than at least one model of the LOSI LST!!!:surprised: :diablo: :yipi: A guy walked in to the Mobile hobby shop that I was visiting with two of them! Check it http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_100_0887.jpg I can do backflips on the time now! With a MONOBLOCK! ON 4S! I love this truck! |
Yeah man how about the dubra ball ends? I snap a rear toe-in ball end just about every other run and pretty am tired of it. Let me know the scoop if they will be much better.

I believe so- http://www.dimensionengineering.com/ also sell several items that may be suitable, and maybe a bit simpler/smaller too.

Cool, very helpful! Will THIS one work?
At most it will control two small LEDs. |
Yep, but:
"Max relay current: 1A @ 24VDC, 0.5A @ 125VAC (60W lightbulb)" You could power several dozen LEDS with it, seeing as your typical 5mm 6/12v item only draws a few mah- that PicoSwitch would be ideal for what you need, you'd just have to wire the LEDS up, and then find a seperate power source for them (the radio/ rx turns the circuit on and off, but it doesnt provide the power for the LEDs)- something like a little 9v battery would be fine. |

I'm not sure excatly what you mean Neil. Why don't you pick one out for me.:neutral: Signs of a good weekend! Ignor the Crock Pot! Long boring story! http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0901.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0900.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0899.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0896.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0893.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/100_0892.jpg |
What I ment was you said the picoswitch could power a few small LEDs, where as in reality it could power dozens of LEDs given the specs, so for the price it would be perfect for even the most insane of lighting setups (head+fog+tail+roof+under car lights with ease). Guessing the soil was a bit damp still- looks like you have some funny red compound tyres on the trucks or something... |

Does anybody know of a LED or a set/ pair of LEDs that will handle the rigors of 1/8th scale(my Maxx is definently 1/8th now) bashing, backflips all that. I tried THIS ONE and it was great but couldn't take the beating. I could use some mounting tips aswell. Well, yes the the first day is really wet. In fact we were running inbetween showers! Thus the racing tires on the Losi trucks got kinda full of red mud losing some traction. (my two cousin's owns the the Losi trucks, the near* stock Desert XXX-T belonging to my 12yr old cousin Michael and the BL XXX-T and the MMM Combo equiped 8T both belong to my 16yr old cousin and RCM poster Brian. Whom I'm sure will chime in soon.) * I say near stock because I let him try a 12V Traxxas Titan designed for an E-Maxx that I was saving for my TOY TO HOBBY LEVEL BOAT PROJECT in his truck! It did a good bit better than the stock motor but not near as well as it would have if it would have ran on 14.8. That Losi brushed motor was the worst I have ever seen! It was mega slow and hot too, temps were like 150-200 the ESC ran hot too like over 150. The ESC ran like 110 with the Titan which also never got above 110. Needless to say I sent them back to Georgia with a Titan! |
$30 for an led and bit of metal, bloody norah...
Tricky though, if you do alot of bashing then your best bet would be for some thing like a simple front+rear set, and mount them on the front and rear bulks (with voodoo magic until I think of something better): http://cgi.ebay.com/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...m=200348782399 Something like an L shaped bracket that mounts where the bumper mounts normally go, then drill a hole so the led holder thing can screw in place. JUst cut off whatever power connector they have, and wire them to the pico switch (single + and - leads there should be). Then wire the power connector to the picoswitch in the proper location (little screw terminals probably) and add a suitable battery, probably a 9v item that can tuck away neatly and securely. |
Will 4 UE SuperShocks in any configuration hold up this ~11.5 pound truck?
If so what setup would one suggest? I'm a heavy basher with lots of +5ft tall jumps. Any input would be very much appreciated! And Neil I just ordered the Pico switch! Along with A TRX MMM mount, A spare Proline Steering set(saw it on the bay and couldn't pass it up), Robinson Racing Plastic Spur Gear 72T (spare) Associated Factory Team Locking Adhesive Bondhus 7-Piece Balldriver Hex Set Metric (bout time I got some proper tools!) Associated Silicone Shock Oil 60 Weight (40 is way to fluid) Futaba Servo Extension 3" J (Needed a short one to quickly and easily disconnect and reconnect the body lights to the reciever when taking the body off and on and this was the shortest one), Traxxas Input Shaft Drive Gear E-Maxx RC-Monster Sticker Sheet Gorilla Maxx single speed transmission conversion (most important part! I figured no telling how long it's going to take Mike to make the CD/motor mounts If at all.:oh::cry: And I wanted to drive my Maxx now so...) Traxxas Gearbox Halves Front & Rear E-Maxx (stripped a screw hole in the motor side half of the tranny, the one side that the the Single Speed conversion leaves on and I figured that I need all the strength I can get if there are only 4 ~tightly spaced screws holding the heaviest single part onto the chassis that being the motor through the tranny) Traxxas Output Gear 31T E-Maxx(again) |
Front 1/8 scale buggy shocks are the ticket ! They cheaper than UE and will hold more oil by volume and have 3.5mm shafts. They are easily scored for about 15.00 a pair on FleaBay. regardless what brand you buy the spring rate my be a little light for bashing but firmer springs are obtainable on FleaBay as well.
OBTW, Nice Truck ! |
4 UE shocks worked fine on my truck they should work well on yours.
Spring weight is: light colored is lightest, dark color is heaviest. Lightest --- White, Red, Blue, Black --- Heaviest UE recommends 8 shock for heavyweight trucks: White in the front, Red in the rear and 4 shock for lightweight trucks: Red in the front, Blue in the rear. |
I wouldn't use fronts, I would use rears...and Ofna Ravager rear shocks are perfect! They are only 7mm longer than UE shocks, but are identical otherwise. I have been running them for a while now, and they are excellent!
|
A good option is four RC8 front shocks. Cheap, durable 1/8 scale shocks.
