17/44 is what I want then... I will add that to my growing list on Tower...
Just got to figure out the tray mounting, then just wait for my stuff to sell. |
Ok next step: deciding on what battery. It will be a Zippy, 5s or 6s is the question. 4s is also an option. Which will the setup run coolest on? Will my tranny handle 6s fine? The higher 's' i go, the less mah i will be able to afford... I'd like a really high mah 4s. Think that'd be fun. It seems like they still perform great. standstill backflips, and plenty of top end for a big truck like the Savage. Your thoughts on battery voltage?

5S it's the best of both worlds...
|
That was what I was thinking. But that was originally when I had planned to use the 8xl. With the 2200kv MMM, I might want to step up the voltage. Especially if the setup will run as cool/cooler. Then again, 4s looked pretty fast, and I could run all day long. If the setup would run hotter on 4s then 6s, there is really no point. And with 6s, if I am not using the power all the time (wont be), then wouldn't I just be getting extra runtime?
Quantity vs quality... |
A 5s and the 2200 would give you just over 40k. I've always been told to aim for 35k so since that is what most nitro engines put out. On 4s it would be like a stock engine and on 5s it would be like a decent or modded engine and on 6s it would be stupid powerful. It's better to have a little less than to much when it comes to stuff like this IMO

My question is about efficientcy. If the setup will run more efficient on higher voltage (cooler temps), there is no reason not to. It will only go as fast as I pull the trigger. Which means that any stripped gears are due to too much throttle. As Ryan would say, "No such thing as over-powered"
Leaning with 6s now, but would like to get a few more opinions first. To be honest, I wouldn't mind more runtime. Temps are the only issue. If I am not able to run through 7k plus on 4s without going into thermal, no reason IMO. |

 very true.....
So Ben, what do you suggest? 4, 5s? I wasn't really considering 6s THAT overpowered. It is technically a "stock" setup. Also, what would you say about the efficientcy? |
THe highest efficiency motor is nice. but doesnt make up for bad gearing choices etc and other things.. i say 4s and the cc2200... you will be suprised at how much power it has.

I am with you there Ben... I know you run 4s on your truggy. Granted it is a bit lighter  I'm sure 4s would push it around fine. I need to watch more 4s vids... i also sent a youtube guy (trxmh) a P.m. asking what he thought of his 4s and 6s setups. |
