Neil we are talking about mod1 gears not .8 or 32p gears. A 25 tooth mod 1 is bigger than a 27 tooth .8 or 32p. Bigger than 25 tooth mod 1 steel gear is almost non existant.

How big of gears do you guys want?
Go to sdp.si.com and go to "Buy Online". Click on the Metric Unit button. Then go down to the option for Gears. Then click on Spur Gears, next click on the suboption called "Metal". Then you should be able to adjust the search functions for 5mm bore and Mod1 specs and voila! Metal gears in Carbon steel, 2024 Aluminum alloy, 303 Stainless Steel. Teeth numbers available: 14,15,16,18,20,22,24,30,36,42,48,54,60,72,84,96. |

Thats a description of the Pressure angle. It seems as though it really wont matter, but the 20* is becoming most prevalent. |
With those foam tires you need to control the tire spin or you'll wear them out quick. Don't stab the throttle ease into it and try not to spin.

Definitely! Freshen up and clean everything. I would replace all bearings if capable. The least amount of rolling resistance as possible is the best!

i would buy them had i not broken 100 today. but geared 43/25 is a good ratio and about as much speed as i was ever looking for.

I was trying so hard to just enjoy some bashing with my new 8ight-T's but now I'm getting sucked back into speed runs again. I have the makings of a 100+mph Truggy that's going to get a run soon...waiting for my new 6S 6500 G3 to arrive, then it's 44/25, buggy diff, 1515 1.5d madness... I'll be relying on the tyre/string method though. I have ballooning down to 0.1"...let's hope the string doesn't break!!! |

Not trying to get anyone. I just want the facts just like everybody else here. Whats funny if you read the link they say they are going to phase out those 14.5* pressure angle and traxxas is still making them for the revo.So are they behind the times or what.

All I meant is that Traxxas may use 14.5*, Mike may use 20*, Kyosho may use 25* yet plenty of us have intermixed these with no real issues because the only factor we look for is matching pitch between gears. No pissing match here! I was just explaining myself after your comment. It really is simple especially if its done right. Congradulations on going over 100mph. May I ask what you didit with? I know for a fact that doing it with a ~10# monster truck is going to be a challenge. But hey! I like a challenge, anybody can make a on road car do a 100mph.
