Does any of you 9e experts know if the hyper engine mount can be turned as i need to use it in the standard possition as it reversed standard isnt it, i would like the engine in the "normal" possition on the right of the chassis..

Sorry for hijaking the thread Bondonutz but this is where the experts hang out :)

Bondonutz 09.08.2009 09:08 AM

Lambchops,

Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to inquire with mike to see if his Ofna mounts will work with the Nitro9 chassis ?
The 9E electric mount has a larger flatter surface on one side more than the other and It's very possible you'll neeed to drill holes, counter sink them and a make a slot for the spur gear. With all the parts you'll need to do this, it would pay for 2 of Mikes RCM mounts ??? Something to think about possibly. My 2cents .

lambchops 09.08.2009 09:17 AM

yeah that was my first hope but unfortunatly they dont fit :-(

Im thinking about just buying the whole kit now as seems quite good value $200 when it even comes with a new shell!!

Did you inquire w/Mike ???

lambchops 09.08.2009 03:03 PM

Yeah he posted in another thread on here they dont fit which is a bummer and leaves only the full conversion route. Ive just ordered it for my dads car. What battery are you running on your 9E as Im not sure which motor to purchase with 14.8V 4 cell 25c lipos? Im getting an MMM and prob a teken motor but not sure of which speed,,, im thinking 1700 but not to sure

Bondonutz 09.08.2009 03:06 PM

I'm running 4s 25-30+C
Going to the track this Sat and plan on trying a 8000mah 3s 25C to see how it likes it.

Marvin 09.08.2009 03:34 PM

On 4S I'd use a 1900 or 2000kV motor. The maximum RPM is right in the 28000-35000rpm efficiency range with these, and it makes gearing easy.

I used to run a 36-60-2000 Medusa in my Hyper 9E, on the same cells that you have, geared 15/40 and it was excellent. I would now go with a 14T 1st however, which is nice, since they include one with the kit.

It's such a bummer Medusa aren't around anymore.

lambchops 09.08.2009 06:15 PM

Yeah thats the same motor i have Marvin, medusa 2000kv. Would the Tekin 1900 be the same power.. They are much bigger motors arnt they physically i mean..

Cain 09.11.2009 02:02 PM

Tekin's motors seem to have more pop to them than a comparable Neu motor.

I went with the 1900Kv motor Tekin setup in my Hyper 9E. Previously was using the Neu 1512 2.5D/F motor.

Anyone got pics of the Hyper 8.5 arm mod, close up comparison to the stock Hyper 9E upper a-arm?

lambchops 09.11.2009 02:18 PM

Ive ordered it all now from Mike, Tekin T8 1900, MM3, Hyperion VX 5500 4 cell. Cant wait to test it out!!

Cain 09.11.2009 02:36 PM

will the 5500mah fit?

lambchops 09.11.2009 02:49 PM

I bloody hope so!!!! Shit just presumed it would.... now im worried

Cain 09.11.2009 03:06 PM

Does this sound about right for the pack you ordered:

HYPERION G3 VX 4S 14.8V 5500mAh 35C/65C LIPOLY Pack
Voltage: 14.8v
Capacity: 5500mAh
Wires: 10 awg
Internal Resistance: 4.5 ohm
Dimensions: 163mm x 47.5mm x 42.5mm
Weight: 588g

lambchops 09.11.2009 03:46 PM

yep thats the one..... will it fit?

The battery tray is 175mm long (might stretch to 178mm - that is absolute maximum though!). Width is 46mm and you can have practically any height due to the bodyshell design.

Spur is a 40T, and you could fit probably up to a 44/46T in there - main problem though is that it uses very small diff cases (short ones), you'd be hard pressed to fit a bigger one in there - it also uses small outdrive bearings.

It will fit, considering my previous measurements. Looks like you'll have to mount it with 42.5mm side face down, and have it 47.5mm tall. It won't have any fitting issues, due to the body design.

lambchops 09.11.2009 04:43 PM

phew! thanks Marvin I was just about to order one of Mike's trays to fit it hehe

In previewing my post I wished I spent another minute to take better pics, sorry guys.

Cain 09.13.2009 12:48 PM

very nice!

I heard from another hyper 9E driver in passing that he was thinking of something similar, but with a longer lexan going under parts of the car that bolt down to the chassis for more hold on the lexan, then, using something to hold it like you have towards the raised chassis ends.

Excited to hear how it works out for you.

lambchops 09.13.2009 01:03 PM

Looks good! about time Jeconcepts or Proline brought out a fitting shell is you ask me... Wont be long im sure

Cain 09.14.2009 11:44 AM

I am hoping so. I made it a point to only paint the body it came with beater style as I am hoping for a better fitting body.

Bondonutz 09.15.2009 04:57 PM

It Finially Happened !

I got to run my buggy on the track today ! :yipi::yipi:
Had the whole track to myself from 9:30am till I left at 3pm, Nice.

I have to say I'm impressed with the 9E very much, I've driven a few E-buggys of friends and a couple guy's at the track whom I met and by far I'm liking how the 9E wheels around.
This buggy is easy to drive and goes where you point it. The only thing I'm gonna change is the front shock fluid. Going from 32.5wt to 35wt, maybe a lighter front sway bar. Everything is pretty close for my driving style and the track. I need to read up and understand droop a little more and maybe tinker with that ? I ran (2) 8000mah 4s, (2) 5000mah 4s, (2) 3700 4s thru it today and temps never got over 138/motor, 120 Lipo, ESC fan never came on. And it was boiling out there today, whew !
Happy to report my homemade mud gaurd worked perfectly, was needed cause the track was a very damp and gooey in a couple places this morning till it dried out some. I bet the buggy weighed a couple extra pounds after the first run from the collected mud/clay. I need mud deflectors for the rear arms and gotta get the Impakt conversion chassis mud gaurds !
Durability is non issue, I was kinda worried due to the Mods folks were suggesting for the front arms and after market rear hinge pin plate. I didn't break a thing and I bounced off a few pipes pretty hard and had some ugly cart wheels.
I have driving skills from when I raced TC's for few years way back but running decent times on the clay is kinda new for me but I think my buggy and I are gonna wax my buddy and his 8ight's ASS! Feeling Confident, I'm gonna whip your ass Eddie !:whip:

lambchops 09.15.2009 05:08 PM

Great news!! What sort of run time did you get with the 8000 pack? what are the Impakt conversion chassis mud gaurds?

Bondonutz 09.15.2009 05:45 PM

Impakt/Tekno Mud gaurds
http://www.teknorc.com/product_info....roducts_id=959

I was getting about 40-45 minutes with the 8K 4s, and roughly 30-35minutes w/the 5K 4s, the 3700mah packs got 13-15 guessing.
My set up would be much better if I had a lower KV motor, My next quest me thinks ? 1800-1900 kv NEU

Bear in mind I wasn't running the shizit out of the buggy wit the huge packs, just steady evenly paced smooth driving. I was driving the hell out of it with the 3700mah packs, handled awesome with the smaller packs and flew like bird.:great:

Just looking over my buggy and noticed a bent a CVD ? ? nothing broken,so all is good.
The wet/damp mud have made the CVD's have surface rust already, here comes WD40 !!

lambchops 09.15.2009 06:04 PM

wow thats some impressive run times!! how much dirt came up through the shell chassis fit? Guards looks like could work for $10 worth a shot.

Bondonutz 09.15.2009 06:09 PM

The side I made the mud gaurd for was spotless except where the gaurd ended. The battery side was heavy with mud and it collected all aound the center diff both sides bad. After every pack I had to pick and shake all the collected debris out. The insides of the rims were so full it threw off the tires balance super bad. In need of the arm mud flaps big time. It's all good, was a solid shake down day and made lots of notes of things I want and need to address.

Tekno Mud Gaurds Installed

Gonna make the mud gaurds for the rear arms tonight and I'll be ready to rock for the weekend.
I think I have a bad cell in one of my 8000mah 4s packs(CrapAmps,Go figure ?) Going to remove the cell and hopefully salvage the pack into a 5000-6000mah and make it more useable for the buggy application.

Cain 09.18.2009 05:18 PM

Very nice. wish I lived close by to have you do the chassis mod to fit the guards. What did you use to punch the holes?

i would say a drill

Cain 09.18.2009 05:24 PM

let me elaborate, what device specifically did you use (ie- brand, etc).

emaxxnitro 09.18.2009 05:25 PM

whatever's cheapest is what i would use. i use a dewalt

Bondonutz 09.18.2009 05:27 PM

Makita/ Lithium Ion
If you did I'd be more than happy to help !
I used a 1/8" drill bit and a 15/64" for the counter sink. I had to make a slit in the rear of the gaurd to make it bend to conform to the chassis and filled the gap with thick CA and kicker.

lambchops 09.18.2009 05:46 PM

does look good that!! should cut down on 90% of the dirt i would think. you going to add any cooling holes to the shell now there is less airflow through the body gap?

Thanks Lamy
Yeah, Probably elect to do the big hole in the front glass like a Nitro Fuel tank access.

Your welcome . I like it as well because it provides plenty of venting . Plus it still leaves alot of the winsheild for support. . I used a sanding drum from a dremel .
