The PS3 has a nice price to it. No need to do all the mods to make it work good. I'm doing a test right now on mine. It's been on for a week now.

Must I repeat myself? This is not thread about the PS3, it's about the 360. I know 2 people with PS3s, and a few dozen with 360s. I bought the 360 over the PS3 because 1) I'd rather have people to play with and talk to 2) Every game on the PS3 worth playing is available on the PC, and 3) They keep changing PS3s around so I never know which one it is that I want, I would want a reverse-compatible one with the biggest hard drive possible.

It worked fine for nearly 2 years and only recently developed the overheating issue...
GT5 is the only game for the PS3 that I'm interested in. To me, it isn't worth $300 for a Blu Ray player and GT5. http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts-app...ex/gaming/c3da I bought this shirt, I can wear it in shame when I go to buy my new one. I'm tempted to buy a new Elite and swap over the S/N tag and return my old and tell them it didn't work. |

I definitely like the controller of the PS3 better, it feels really chintzy and the batteries aren't replaceable but I'm significantly better with it. I almost never use a Playstation but I can pick up the controller and be at least decent at whatever game I am playing, the XBox controller takes more getting used to and I still don't like it. How is Forza compared to GT? I think Forza is fairly good on the realism, not perfect but good.
The $100 for the wireless LAN is bullsh!t, I agree. I have been wanting to move my XBox since I bought the thing but I am tethered to my router because I'm not forking over that kind of money for the wireless. 360 and PS3 players should definitely be able to play together! At very least to keep games alive longer because there are always a few people looking to go multiplayer with games that aren't the latest and hottest. I don't think PC players and console players should be able to play together, I don't want to hear all the console kiddies bitching because people with a keyboard and mouse are owning them  |
Cant you just get a longer ethernet cable to connect the 360 to your router (power points not withstanding), allowing you to relocate it?

Everything in my apartment is gigabit wired and what the landlord doesn't know, won't hurt her. |
I have the ps3 but the kid has the 360, the 360 doesnt work well with the wireless lan, I run the ps3 off the wireless and it never skips a beat. Im not saying PS3 FTW but I wouldnt buy one for myself also his 360 had to be sent back 3 times due to a something screen of death. What a pile
|
Huh? Do you mean to say the ethernet cable is built-in to the 360 as such? On the PS3 its just a bog-standard cable with male plugs on either end, meaning you can use any length you want.
You could always buy an extension cable for the 360's ethernet cable if it is built-in.. |
The 360 uses a standard ethernet plug and where I want to move it is within the range limits of Cat5e cable, I just don't want to deal with tripping over the cable or drilling holes in the wall. Is the 360 really that bad wireless? I know wireless doesn't perform nearly as well as wired (which is why I'm OK with keeping it where it is for now) but a few friends of mine are obsessed with Halo and use wireless and they say they don't have a problem with it.
|
FWIW, if you are playing racing games, get a force feedback wheel - its a much better experience. I bought a used Logitech for use with my PS3, and I've never been happier. Its a pain to have to drag out the cords that go with it, though. I also had to build a laptop piece for it to attach to - they put out too much force to hold between the legs.

My kids 360 works like crap wireless and its 1 room (100ft) from the wifi router. my ps3 is about 1000ft in the living room and no skip. I bought him the real $100 wireless microsoft adapter for wifi. Could be a cold spot. Just the fact you have to buy the 360 and the wifi adapter where ps3 has it all plus blueray I dont see the argument lol
|
Ah, fair enough. Possible to tuck it under the edges of the carpet maybe- if it needs to go into a different room, then I can see how that might be a problem, but drilling holes in the wall is fun!
|
I live in a house that has a sub floor ? that what you call it. a 3 ft crawl space. I crawled down there and ran the kid a 50ft rj 45 or cat 5 or whatever they call them now and then it did some screen of death he called it. $45. My wife jacked the cable from work or that would have been another $45

Wireless is kinda like a hooker. Sometimes its worth it, sometimes its not. :mdr:

Wow...What did I start. This is a 360 thread guys .
Oh well....When are you going to get a PS3 . I think Sony lowered the price too. Do you guys think if I complain enough, I would get some credit for spending over $500 on mine? |

I'm getting deep inside your mind...PS3 is good...PS3 is the best...PS3 will put all others to rest...Get a PS3 for a super low price...When you wake up tomorrow, you'll have PS3 in your mind and you'll get one...

I wouldn't mind having a PS3, I really wouldn't, but what am I going to do with it? Blu Ray and GT5 are the only 2 things I'm interested in. That duck game where you tilt the tub with the motion sensing is a kick in the pants when you're drunk, but it isn't worth it to me. I've got too many RCs that need work to drop money on a PS3 :rules:
I liked it a lot when Sony lowered their prices, not only did it put the PS3 in a more financially feasible position for me but it forced Microshaft's hand into lowering the price on the 360. The 360 is so cheaply constructed I'm sure they could lower the prices even more and still make money hand-over-fist. |
