"keep it clean" jerkoffs. I was helping a noob tune in a redcat buggy (lame on top of lame, right?) and of course he had no temp. unit or any idea that there's a target window for temp. I had him running decent, but just to be sure I gave his cooling head the ole spit test. Well he freaked out! I spit on his baby! He wanted to keep it clean and put it back on his shelf to look pretty. I was going to explain to him the inherit traits of 2 stroke engines but he was in full temper tantrum mode, so I just said, "good luck" and rolled away

1.) SAE screws. 1/16" hexes for 4-40 buttonheads is just asking for a stripped screw. #1 reason I won't buy a losi.
2.) LHSs. I want to like these places and give them business, but they usually don't have the part I need, or its 3x the price online, and bitch about the things I do have/need. They complain about BL, mostly bc nitro fuel is one of the few things you really need a LHS for, and no one is buying that 11 month old $200 3S Maxamps or Duratrax lipo that been sitting in the case. I don't mind answering how fast it goes, and I never answer how much it costs. If they ask, I tell them asking a man how much his RC cost is like asking a woman how much she weighs. It just isn't done, and any answer you get is going to be a lie anyways. |

Some have been said but, in no particular order...
RC Marketing (ok, this is probably one of my top 3). Some of the crap they say is just SO stupid and I feel sorry for all the noobs that fall for it. I see how in a way, that's just how it is, but I sometimes get tired of reading "the best and most powerful ever" or "strongest ever" on every parts description I read. Stripped screw heads/threads. I f*cking hate dealing with this. Can't they make the thread coarse enough when it's going into plastic and put a large enough head on the screws? Pain in the ass dealing with 1.5mm hexes, as if 2mm wasn't small enough anyway. (Alright, another of my top 3) Noobs on forums asking questions just to "look cool." It's so damn obvious, and so annoying. Noobs who don't listen to you despite the fact you are obviously more experienced. Noobs on forums thinking that having 17,000 posts of "I don't know" in various threads makes them an RC Expert. People who want a 100mph RC yet expect to do this with 50 bucks. And when you find out they are racing on a track and you tell them "there's no point" they say "I can handle the power." :sarcastic: People who "know" their RC goes X fast despite having NEVER actually used a GPS or a radar gun. "Yeah, my 100% stock 2.5 T-Maxx does 60+mph." Ok. If you say so buddy. The same...questions...over...and over...again. Be it on the forum or when someone asks you while you are driving. At least we don't have much of the repetitive noob questions on RCM, they all seem to be stuck on the Traxxas forum. LHS (in a way) - A part that's $1.50 off tower is $6 from them. I mean c'mon really? I know there's a convenience charge but damn. On the plus side a fellow RCM member works at my LHS, makes it a lot better. The stuck up nitro guys. Some nitro guys are fine, and admit that the proper brushless systems will obliterate their vehicle, but still prefer the sound of nitro and the fact that they have an actual piston thumping in their RC. I totally respect that. I in a way have the same feeling and own some nitro's (haven't been driven in forever though). But I hate when you get some fool who thinks electrics are for kids and shouldn't be allowed on the track. Well, Mr. Fool, I just beat you down the straight by a mile, and I just jumped OVER you when I turned the entire rhythm section in a single jump. Like to rethink your statement? When you are out driving and the guy asks you the usual questions and when he finds out how fast it is and how expensive it is, he says "yeah well my Mustang is this fast." (Alright, this isn't something I don't like, cause it's so damn funny when it happens). There's no perfect connector. It either doesn't support current worth a damn (Tamiya), is a pain in the ass to solder (Deans and Traxxas), or is too big (Powerpoles and Traxxas). Servo wires. Either WAYYYYYYYY to damn long or 1 inch too short, but always the right length to cause as much trouble as possible. |
1.) E-clips
2.) crappy chinese knockoffs 3.) kids at my school asking to drive my 1500$ revo. YEAH RIGHT! 4.) kids asking "how much is that?" and can i get it at radio shack? 5.) guys who "have one whos name they cant remember is faster" 6.) people calling it my "toy car" i know it technically is just a toy,but dish out 1500$ of your own cash then let ME talk down on it 7.) moms coming up and asking if they can buy it for there son..... 8.) "hey dude, try and race my car" ...um..NO! besides,no contest between a revo and a civic 9.) is that electric? no,thats just the ESC smoke pouring out the back of it from getting hot..... 10.) my personal favorite you paid HOW MUCH FOR THAT! LOL,i love having an RC at school that costs more than most of there POS cars and thats about it,im sure i could think of more though :D --josh |

Bitchy old women who come down to the ponds just to chew us out for running our boats. Relax, our boats aren't harming your little mermaids (though there are a few ducks that think twice about returning to those ponds...) You can start complaining when I get a spear mounted to the front of my Titan, fresh duck is just so tasty.
Jesus clips People who see my RCs running then think they are obligated to ask questions (how fast does it go, how much does it cost, where did you get it, and can I try are the typical questions) and say "wow that's so cool." RC Magazines, they blow sunshine up everyone's tailpipe because if not they lose an advertiser so they don't post the truth (hence why Maxamps is all over RC Mags, they provide free batts and a ton of advertising revenue) Removing the tranny from my HPI Baja Dropping screws Losing tools Burning myself with soldering gun Glueing myself (glued my mouth shut once, that was interesting) Tire blow outs Wow, until this list I didn't know there were so many things about this hobby that annoy me... |

Got glue on my hands, wiped my mouth, went to breathe and :gasp: mouth glued shut. Fortunately I had a can of Orange Juice in the freezer, just had to make it up and then hold a glass to my mouth for half an hour while it ate away at the glue to the point I could rip my lips apart. Note to self: DON'T do that again!

Good thing you didn't have a cold! :oh:

no kidding, that would have scared the crap out of me. i have two definite phobias. fear of not being able to breathe (by means of mouth not being able to open especially) and fear of getting physically stuck in a tight place. well, there is one more phobia....people who ask the typical 3 questions....how much? how fast? can i try? |

1. working on your car setting it up to go out and bash/race and it breaking 10 mins. after you start and you don't have a replacement part for it!
2. forgetting to charge your radio batteries! 3. having it rain on your ONLY day to run your rc cars/trucks 4. tearing your last diff gasket w/no replacement in stock, while servicing the diffs 5. having your esc fail on the last lap while in the lead...happened to me twice a long time ago. |
#1 losing that 1 part you need to finish it. It not being where you put it only to find it exactly there 2 hours later (twilight Zone blue men episode)
#2 Letting someone drive your car and crashing it and HAVING to say "its ok man $5 I can fix it" so they don't cry..$25 and 5 hours later.. azzwads #3 getting all your crap in the car, driving 50 miles to the track and having your RC car crap out after 5 minutes due to Castles crappy switch, not knowing WTF.. TY Patrick for fixing it ! |
1. Having no LHS.
2. Having no track to run at. 3. Stripping screws. 4. Losing screws. 5. Losing body clips and finding them years later in the cracks of my floor. 6. Tires balding under BL power. 7. Fixing your truck to go out and find out that your battery is dead. 8. Discontinued parts. 9. Stripping gears. 10. Buying new bodies. 11. Ebay auctions where people say their t-maxx .15 goes 100mph Damn this hobby is annoying. |

Tick off list
Quote:
My piss off list in no particular order. 1) I hate my passion to take a excellent +10 year old design (maybe older IDK how long it was on the drawing board) and try to make it compete with 2moro's tech truggies. The Maxx really did change everything but it is ancient! Still I continue... 2) Nitro guys who know nothing of electric, and like to show and tell it. Most I've seen know almost nothing of nitro, their own "art". 3) Soldering 4) Glueing 5) lack of real standards in our industry, particularly with batts. 6) Prices of specific types of items 7) Rarity of tracks within 2 hours 8) Shipping 9) There are good noobs. I was one once, still am with some stuff. Then there are bad noobs. Thus bad noobs. 10) bad deals Still I love this hobby, the facts that make me happy far out way this and any other pissy lists. Edit: Oh yeah and faulty switches on the MMM. And the MMM case... and the fan. |
i actually fixed one of these issues!!
the #255 "can i try?" i bought a micro-T and took that to school. at the time it was the only RC i owned that didnt cost more than my real car:lol: let em drive that, soo much fun!! hell with the lipo upgrade it almost beat the nitro noob with the cheap nitro 2wd ST:rofl::lol: the people who say "it isnt worth that" usualy come around after i pull off a few big air jumps and the ensuing ooooOOOOOOOooooo's that follow make it seem worth it:lol: oh!! and my #15 thing that pisses me off!! RESALE VALUE you can never get anywhere near back than what you paid, unless you bribe a noob. nitro sells, electric dont. we can make a killing here though hehe. buy a slash when it has just been released, get it shipped here, it WILL sell for over $100 more than it's value. i mean dude, E-revo (not the BL) comes out, lands here in australia for $600 add or whatever, SELLS ON EBAY FOR $1000!!! (and the dumb noob with the V-twin setup still cant sell his for $1200) |
I've ben thinking about this thread for a couple days and it honestly took me a while to name 10 things I hate about the hobby.
1. The noise from a Nitro motor, especially having to constantly blip the throttle to keep the F-in' thing running. 2. Stupid little children that ask the age old questions of "How much", "How fast", "Can I drive it", "Can you build me one/where can I get one" . 3. Spending hours fine tuning, testing, wrenching and waiting till the weekend to run and you break your shit 1 minute after plugging in the friggin' lipo. 4.Your so called "Buddy" who laughs after he drives his all aluminium LST2 into your shin and cripples you for a couple days. 5. Pussy whipped friends who's wifes trash talk our RC's saying their stupid little toys, those bitches need a smack. You know who you are. 6. The TRX forum with noobs who post 10 pictures of their completely stock Emaxx thinking no one else has one ?? Idiots 7. Beer is not allowed at the tracks, Travesty ! 8. Solder that refuses to stick despite a hot iron, flux and lots of patience ? 9. Having to climb up a 40 foot tall dirt hill and every step I take I sink up to my knees all to flip my dam truck back over. Hey I'm fat, If I wanted excercise I'd jog ? Drum roll please; 10. Maxxed out Credit Cards and the truck you ben waiting months to be released is now availible AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH ! |
OK, here's my top 10 (in no particular order):
1: Cost of tires/bodies. Outrageous! 2: The "My uncle/friend/brother/father/pet has one that goes faster". 3: Nitro in general. The tuning, mess, smell, sound - all of it! 4: Glueing tires. I can never get it right. So, I get premounts and they can't get it right either (actually, they do, but they don't stay together). 5: Spending several hours cutting, fitting, painting even a basic body just to have it all scratched up in 5 minutes. Driving better would solve this, but that's not an option. 6: Nitro in general. The tuning, mess, smell, sound - all of it! 7: The LHS never, EVER, having the parts or raw materials I need. 8: Kids asking if they can try it. Yeah, right. 9: Having to mod a brand new part because it just doesn't fit like it is supped to. 10: Nitro in general. The tuning, mess, smell, sound - all of it! |
Is it possible that Brian actually hates something more then fans? :oh:
|
lol, in my desire to express my displeasure of nitro, I forgot all about fans!

You fellows bring a change of cloths. I've been trying to tune for two summers now. Just when I think I got it, the clouds give way and I have to tune it for no clouds. Then I have to retune for when I drive it in the shade. Then a quick adjustment for crossing the hot street. Then a little different tune for climbing the ramp I have on the front steps. Of course all that depends on which tuning screwdriver is used. 100 proof with the no pulp orange juice is prefered. Last night I started trimmng a new body. That reminded me how much I dislike doing it. Trimming the overpriced lexan bodies. There are some funny one's in this thread that are so true and you just rofl becuase it has happened to all of us at one time or another. Well except for cutting anlge iron in the nude. lol |
#4 The fact that RC companies think that dismissing the public opinion wont catch up with them. In including you all.....
#5 Mike wont Make us the Maxx CD BOOOOOOOMN |

I got one I haven't saw here. Somebody asking for an advice what to buy. You ask for a budget and how seriously they want to take it... ? "well not sure, but quite a lot, so no problem and I would like to race on top level, so really seriously" ok so you link him 500$ truggy, 300$ radio and 300$ combo... no batteries or servo... they send you back a link to chinese RTR combo 1/8 truggy for 300$ with a "I guess this is looking about the same, but way cheaper, what do you say?" grrr
and destroying my tekin rotor 4times during season... I hate breakdowns which was not my mistake.. the other ones too, but at last I am the one to blame to try topspeed on straight (thanks wallot for bringing speed gun) and crashing my truggy at 60km/h flat out.. :) and if you are going to borrow you car (like my nephew or my girlfriend who I just cacannot say no...) turn it down to 20% throttle and with little kids, just give them the wheel and operate the throttle. It work just fine and you don't have to be "rude" by refusing it. |

Only if you don't know what you're doing :lol:.
I never had a hard time rebuilding shocks or diffs. I always use naptha to clean the old silicone oil from the shocks or diffs, wash it denatures alcohol and air dry them using my compressor. |

When you've been waiting for that shipment to show up and the day it does your weren't there to sign for it. So now you have to wait another day to get it from the post office.
UPS's stupid ass rules about having to first try and deliever the package before they will hold it for you to come pick up. |
