WHAT!?!?!?!:surprised:

I think we should make that a requirement on the boards. You only get limited access to the forums until you actually do one....

what are you talking about? the crt .5 can be a great basher. all you have to do is convert it and then add some nice 1/10 tires. gladiators should work nicely.

I know, I'm not going to baby it, but for a pure beating vehicle I want something with a simpler drivetrain and less parts. Less to break and easier to fix.

I know, I'm not worthy LOL. I planned on converting a buggy, but then when I saw Arct1k's for sale I couldn't pass it up. So now that will change when the CRT .5 gets here.

buggies and truggies have the simplest drivetrains available. the diffs are the same as any other rc as far as simplicity goes. where it gets simpler is the transmission. buggies and truggies run a direct drive center diff. on anything without a center diff, there is a complicated transmission with half a dozen gears to deal with. if you wanted to make the drivetrain simpler on your crt, you could just lock the center diff. if you wanted to make it really simple, you could just lock all the diffs. that way, there would only be 6 moving gears in the entire drivetrain.

Personally I see a 2WD Slash tranny as simpler than a 4WD 3-diff buggy/truggy setup. All the diffs have 6 internal gears, there are 6 dogbones/CVDs instead of 2 on a 2WD. I don't want to have to lock all 3 diffs on the CRT. Now 4WD center diff vs. 4WD trans (like E-Revo) then yes the center diff is simpler. Comparing stock CRT .5 to stock Slash the 2WD Slash is much simpler. When I get my beater vehicle it will be a Slash or Stampede. The CRT .5 will be for lighter bashing and hopefully track driving soon enough.

4WD go FLM maxx.

+1 or a stock rusty with rpm arms. If you get any traxxas the rpm arms would be a good upgrade for you.

the only problem with the slash is the diff

both me and ikpthegame had slashes and be beat the hell out of them for a year

i ended up going threw 4 diffs before i decided to sell it, after a year of trashing it the diffs were the only thing i ever broke

If you get a Rustler, you can pimp it out with a full FLM kit! Full FLM Rusties look so damn cool it's crazy!

Although I had a good time with my full flm rusty if i were to do it all over again i wouldn't make everything aluminum. Just the bulkhead, tranny case and maybe shock towers (maybe because I bent both front and rear).

+1
I loved my FLM Stampy but it seemed to sit half the time waiting for FLM to replace arms. Most of the stuff could be bent back but still it was constant, Even bent the chassis twice.

I think this thread has motivated me to get another slash to share in the bomb proofness of the way my wife beats the crap out of hers. Looking at a roller now for about 90 bucks. Should be fun!

Man, if FLM would just make their parts out of 7075-T6 instead of 6061-T6...it would remove a ton of the current bulk, making everything much lighter, while also making everything much stronger! I know 7075-T6 stock is more expensive, and the prices of the parts would go up, but they could continue to make the 6061-T6 parts, and only make a limited number of 7075-T6 parts at the higher prices. I am positive they would have no problem selling the higher-priced 7075-T6 parts!

I found the email from them from when I bent my shock tower. I had asked them for a quote on machining one out of 7075, and she basically said that if I supplied the raw stock, they would machine it. Didn't give me a price.

Chadworkz 05.27.2010 03:14 PM

Well that's pretty cool!

Isn't Mike in really well with FLM?
