Just like I said several posts ago. Who will be the first to make them?

ChrisAttebery 11.03.2010 04:31 PM

Are those rotors kevlar wrapped? Are all the Neu-Castle motors?

nuz69 11.03.2010 06:23 PM

And the windings and Kv plz !!! ? 1Y like other ?

Arct1k 11.03.2010 06:25 PM

750kv

nuz69 11.03.2010 06:25 PM

Thx !

Finnster 11.03.2010 09:27 PM

What's the rpm limit?

And 1 turn. Y wind. 40,000 rpm is the rotor maximum. -- but we recommend 25k-30k rpm as a practical limit

ZippyBasher 11.03.2010 10:41 PM

Dude! that Rotor! Drool! haha...

I think I will need this combo to stick in a Razor Scooter! Then I can blast around Vegas from one end of the strip to the other and stick it in my backpack! Forget walking in 105º

hemiblas 11.03.2010 10:58 PM

I'm sure it wont be long before Castle gets into the EV market. Replacing rear drums with brushless outrunners that provide power to accellerate and also use as brakes, putting one of these motors in place of a starter for an electric turbocharger on a car, powering electric scooters with these new systems instead of the current brushed technologies they are currently peddling. The possibilities are endless.

Don`t know if this has been posted yet

I hadn't. Thanks!!

sikeston34m 11.04.2010 05:23 PM

Did he say the Mamba XL's are shipping NOW? :gasp::surprised:

Where can I get one? Someone point me at it. LOL

Nick 11.04.2010 05:32 PM

What is the constant and peak watt rating of the motor?

Any motor length/diameter dimensions?

What is the amp rating of the Mamba XL ESC?

Only 8s....really? I thought at least 10s was expected out of this XL esc.

Desert Rc 11.06.2010 01:09 AM

Oh I read on Big Squid I just have to wait a bit for the 10s...

It was said a long time ago the XL would be 8s.

Team Pie 420 11.16.2010 08:16 AM

SO how long until castle make full sized vehicle controllers and help me set of the electric conversion market on full sized? :P
This is such awesomeness imo.

Any idea when / if a blower will be produced for the 2028?

Yes -- a blower with 2 x 40mm fans will be available at the same time as the 2028 (and will ship with the Baja conversion combo...)

Can you estimate the price spread between the XL HV version and the 8S XL version about to be released?

Will the HV XL version have the same current handling capability, or a lower-current/higher V capability for the same approx power output?

Thanks!

The HV will have a lower current, higher voltage -- just like you said -- yields similar power output, but at higher voltage.

thanx!

Patrick

Thanks for the quick reply Patrick. :)

Also, I can't find any info on the footprint of the esc anywhere yet. Does anyone have any specs? I know Chris has been playing w/ one...

Need to plan a place for it in my ongoing savage conversion. I want to cut a plate for the electronics next, and don't know how big a space to make for it :)

Footprint is the same as the ICE-200 air controller. The heat sink is different, but shares the same footprint.

Patrick, Will it be opto or will it have a BEC? I believe last time it was said it was going to be opto. Thanks

The 8S controller has a switching 5A BEC (with programmable output voltage,) the 12S controller is opto.

Thanx!

Finnster 11.16.2010 05:16 PM

Specs from the pdf PdC linked:

Length:3.94” (100mm)
Width:2.04” (52mm)
Height":1.2” (30.6mm)
Weight:4.56 oz* (129.4g*)
Max amps:200 amps**
5 amp BEC
Max volts:34 volts (8s LiPo/22 cells NiCad/NiMh)

Thanks

NickRummy 11.16.2010 05:51 PM

Patrick,

Do you now if the conversion kit will include a pinion and if so, what tooth count?

Yes I do know that.

It will include a pinion -- 14 tooth. We will have option pinions of 12tooth, 16tooth and 18tooth.

Thanx!

Patrick

Thanks! Any specs on the battery holder(s)? I have my 2 4s 5000 packs waiting.

As far as I know, the battery holder is just a big flat piece of foam rubber (high density) with velcro straps. That's what our sample kit has.

Hi Patrick,

Where are we at on the timeline?

Last I heard, this was in the production schedule, but still a ways out.

Are we in production?

Are we shipping yet?

I just wonder how much longer until I can get myself one?

Thanks.

Well, the status right now is that we are just waiting for the motors to arrive. I was in China last week, and they were finishing the motors on the production line.

There are a few hundred controllers on the production floor right now, just awaiting final assembly. They are holding off final assembly until the motors show up from China.

UPDATE: Just spoke with Kate -- and they are planning on finishing the MM XLs sometime next week.

Thanks for the reply.

My Main interest is in the controller. Will it be possible to purchase it by itself soon?

Thanks for the detailed update... I was just making my daily rounds seeing if anything new came up on the kit, I'm ready to order as soon as I am able to.. My 5T has been sitting and waiting, I feel a bit bad setting my Trevor Simpson engine aside but I know I will feel much better when I put the Castle setup in it.
