Small update... I cutted middle "support tower" of the HPI baja roll cage, wich i will not be using and made body mounts. Drilled m3 hole to m4 so i use m4 screw...

Frond body post i made also from support tower form hpi roll cage and i drilled M3 hole in to the traxxar receiver box mounted small part on it, made another hole for body post... this menas my body is secured with 3 body posts.

Well for front part didnt came out as i wanted so i will be putting back front bumper... just sits to low like this as body is a bit higher do to the jubo servos wich dont alowe body to sit lower.

Front part was serured with those 2 lights...srewd 2 screws in and cutted them that screwd the "lights" on.
AS u can see on th last picture, it dosent look good! I just cutted to much and sits to low at the front...

I think your servo is to big. Cut the body, so the servo sticks out, and body will go lower.

Dejan

Knez 03.06.2011 03:49 PM

Than i would have to cut a bit for traxxas receiver box to...hmm, will see..maybe i do cut the body..

But bumper is also good to protect the front part a bit..as now my front is totally exposed.

Small video form today
Savage Flux 5b offroading

Everything was in the 30°C ambient only clutch at the end of video got to a 111°C  i could even smell it, cooled down fast as weather was 7°C.
Had few issues with slipper as it was tightened all the way and got lose, will try to use 2 of those suckers, need to lock tight it totally.

Knez 03.16.2011 09:42 AM

Received tires and rims for "bajas", just need to get hexes and i am good to go.
Also got the HPI baja 5b bumper set "part number 85420", will try somehow to install the sucker so i can use baja roll cage.

Tire/rim info:

- Outer tire diameter 175 mm
- Tire and rim width 62 mm
- Rim inner diameter 119 mm
- Weight for one tire and rim combo is 375 gramms

hi bud! The videos are awesome!
They are both performing really well...

Silly quesiton here, but are you just using a body clip pin to hold the wing on the stock body mounts??? Or another method? Any closer pics?

THANKS

Josh

thzero 05.07.2011 08:03 AM

That's what I did... the Savage body mount posts fit perfectly with the Baja 5B wing, then I just used some heavy duty body clips.

Hi Jah!
As thzero sad, only body post are holding the wing and baja 5b wing is perfect fit. Thanks for comments :)
Hope u make video soon of ur red devil!

http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/atta...1&d=1304851200

But wing is not 100% stabilized it is moving a little. Would recomend some washers or something in between to fill the gap/space and to act as a support for the wing.

Knez 05.10.2011 12:14 PM

Received FLM dogbones, now i need some custom arms :)

Here a pic or 2.

Jahay 05.11.2011 05:41 AM

i thought so knez! Thanks for the pics!

I was just hoping there was another way... A nicer looking pin system maybe with a washer?

Im going to keep on looking i think

SO SO SO

what are your plans for the longer , thicker flm shafts??
I cant wait to see what custom arms you get made up!!!

keep us posted!

thzero 05.11.2011 08:09 AM

There isn't a lot of room, because the body posts aren't that tall where they fit through the wing. I think I found some thin washers to use... spray paint them black or something so they don't stand out.

No problem Jah!

Well, there is always another way and yes washer would help a lot.
But this is only for now..i intend to use wing holder.
Dejan will help a lot here i think :)

BUT but but

First amrs...well i intend to use xl arms after that i will see.
But my arms wont be nothing special as i want to keep the price as low as possible, will be cut from 7075 T6 aluminium.
Upper arms i will use those that i already got. Only longer screw that comes in upper arms to adjust the lenght.

Today received these..and i know i should keep away from Integy stuff, but i will give these a try.
Payed way to much for them but they do look beefy.

http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/atta...3&d=1305645432

lp

Jahay 05.17.2011 12:21 PM

knez, those integy hubs are very good! Offer very gd turning circle too! Nice Buy!

Hmmm... im just trying to think how i would use dejan for a wing holder, but i cant see how it would work. I want to avoid any alloy bits around those areas as my wing gets absolutely battered on roll overs.

Aero 05.29.2011 04:12 PM

Loking great knez! and for this special sunday:

I wouldnt mind all that copycat/bashcat talk. Integy parts ? Hm isn't that a rip off of the original HPI steering rack ? JK. Weights ?

Alza racing is probably the better dealer, awesome shipping too. Hoped I could have some 5mm CF tvp's but turns out he's okay with custom tvp's (in 5mm alu)

btw those FLM arms, whats the diff between FLM41500 and 41510, everything's the same, even the price and 20013.jpg picture ? i suppose the 41500 are 9x123mm dogbones, and 41510 11x123mm ?

the dogbones from alza, are they steel ? howcome you ordered flm drive shafts, and then be gettin the arms from alza ?

Knez 06.19.2011 08:10 AM

Jah, yes i tested the integy hubs and diference between them and stock is like night and day. I am never using stock again.

Erghh i do agree, to use Dejan for a wing would be a bit dificult, lol, hmmm, maybe he could just cut something out. I want to use baja roll cage at the end anyway.

Hi Aero :) Well integy hubs did cost, was like 95$ + tax.
Must say these do solve a lot of small "problems", like gap between the hubs, better turning. Now it is all nice and tight.

Alza is a great shop and he is a great guy, i know :)
That is why i buy there everything i need. Waiting for XL arms for FLM dogbones.

On FLM site they say both kits are Extended.... dont know what is the diference.

Alza dogbones are stainless steel. I ordered FLM dogbones as price is good.
Arms will do alza as this way i get them a lot cheaper..i also dont pay tax this way.

Small update: Foty had head on chrash.
-Broken front bulk
-Twisted braces, one in bulk and lower one that holds skids

All this is now fixed and hes 5b is rtr again. We also changed oil in hes diffs.
50W front 30W back. And foty has 23/44T gearing, dont know why i thought he got 20/44T.

Because of motor pinion screw always going lose, i mounted hes motor pinion with M4 screw M4x6mm for 23T m. pinion. Pinion is turned other way around and secured.

I am having problems with slipper screw. It is getting lose and my 44T diataches from slipper kit. Will try to use 2 nuts and red locktite. Hope this will hold.

Knez 09.27.2011 05:46 PM

Here a new BMX track...had a taste today for 30min than lower part from shocks broke...

Also removed all shims from slipper kit and used M5 slim nut so it goes to the shaft "on the part that is got no thread for screw" and pushes 44T properly on the slipper kit. Tighten it with stock M4 nut and used another "slim" nut over the stock. A lots of lock tight, 24hr healed.

What i also want to do is upgrade the shocks with better ones, stronger ones "shocks that can take more abouse"...So i was thinking something like these..

- Eye bore: 4.5 mm
- Eye thickness: top 6 mm, bottom 5 mm
- Shaft diameter: 4 mm
- Shaft thread: M4
http://rc-car-online-shop.de/shop/pu...57a3ad96a0.jpg
10mm shorter than stock shocks :/
eye to eye

Or maybe 4x Baja front shocks + wide arms ...
Dimensions (f/r):
Mounting hole distance: 187 mm
Travel: 62 mm
Diameter: 20 mm
6 mm shock shaft
http://rc-car-online-shop.de/shop/pu...ad634a3e88.jpg
22mm longer than stock
eye to eye

Wish i had room for these brutal shocks LOL!
Dimensions:
Mounting hole distance (extended): 173 mm
Total length (extended): 190 mm
Travel: 56 mm
Shock shaft diameter: 6 mm
Body diameter: 30 mm

I might do that (but for a large part it will be the same as other Alza 5B builds on this forum).

I also ordered the Xerun 150A because I heard some good stories about it.

For the shocks I was planning to use the 8 shocks that are used on the nitro versions of the Savage but several people recommended that I should take a look at the Losi XXL LST shocks. These can be found very cheap on eBay and using this kit they can be mounted on the standard Savage shock towers.

In this thread you can see what the shocks and kit look like.

Knez 10.17.2011 06:34 PM

I would like to see at least 4mm shaft on shocks...

Knez 10.17.2011 07:11 PM

Wow, ver ynice build.
Will you have any spear XL aarms for sale ?
Nice bumpers, you could make more of them
If they hold i would be interesting...
Also where did you order custom dogbones ?
Very interested in mid. diff conversion.

Do you know the size of xxl shocks from eye to eye ?

The shaft size for these Losi XXL shocks could be 4mm (if they are the same as the LST2 shocks) : http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/shocks.html but I will measure them when they arrive.

Just to be sure, that car is not mine but from a nice guy from Belgium. I don't know if he has an account here, I can point him to this thread so maybe he can answer your questions.

Hi,

first i wanna say great build and i like it a lot, specially love costum stuff u cutted. :whip:

So u didnt tested towers that you made ?
When will you cut the XXL a-arms ?
If the material holds, do you intend to make them any for sale too -?
Would be interested in 13mm longer aarms than stock + towers..

Will subscribe to your thread ...

pietrvds 10.18.2011 11:49 AM

thanx alot! well i haven't tested them yet but the material (hmpe) is tough!

My intention is to make some vids where i use a hammer to test it like some other people did before so i'll do that soon.

the truck itselff isnt anywhere near to completion, still waiting for parts, drawing the arms, and the courage to start again...

I'll make a new build thread in short on this forum also so you can follow it.

cheerz and thanx again for the posi comments, all q''s will be answered overthere ;)

Just received the XXL shafts today; the regular Savage Flux Big Bore shocks measure 16 cm from eye to eye. The XXL shocks are 1 cm shorter, around 15 cm from eye to eye (I measured this with a ruler).

The shaft is indeed 4mm thick.

So, they are around 5mm shorter than stock flux from eye to eye..

Don't trust the picture (because if the lens distortion), I measured the shocks and the XXL shocks are about 10 mm shorter than the stock flux shocks.

Just to be sure, the shocks are (from top to bottom):
- savage nitro shocks
- losi XXL shocks (obvious )
- savage flux shocks
