I actually like that van idea...

In other news...when did you become a Moderator?

....nevermind. Apparently it happened last year. How did I miss that?

Almost there. Still need to pack the surface, nail down the pipe and build a driver stand. The area seemed small, but the extensions between the trees, lane width and layout etc. really added to the overall size and feel - probably could classify as a medium sized track and better than many tracks I have raced on for sure!

Bash day at the monsters?

RC-Monster Mike 07.05.2011 10:21 AM

We had a bash/build day here yesterday. Hot dogs, burgers, beer and RC - not much better than that! Also added the "wall of shame" and another crossover to the track and nailed down most of the pipe. Pictures forthcoming(also tried to get a video, but it was at the end of the day, I was tired and driving poorly and broke my buggy!).

A few pictures. The tractor served as the driver stand, along with the cinder blocks seen in the pictures. :)

Holy crap, that is so awesome! Looks like tons of fun. Wish I could be there.

My friends and I had a similar day camping last weekend. Most fun I have had with my rc's in a long while. Funny how a good time can be had with good friends, rc and lots of beer. Funny to watch 40 yr old men playing with rc trucks having a blast.

Not the greatest quality(video and driving), but attached is a link to a 4 minute video of me putting down some laps on the new track. The perspective changes a few times throughout the video(video is running while camera guy is running to different areas during the video). :)

This one is from the perspective of the driver(and has less direct sunlight)

First I thought "Wow, really nice track!".
Then I saw the house in the background:oh:

Sure beats the front yard we raced around last time you came over, huh Daf!?! Hopefully you can come over again one day. :)

rootar 07.07.2011 07:15 PM

you sure needed the track mike your getting a bit rusty!

lol

lets see your baja on the track?

magman 07.07.2011 07:18 PM

That is really sweet Mike...especially for a house track.

RC-Monster Mike 07.07.2011 08:49 PM

Rusty indeed - I have had more track time in the last 2 days during my lunch break and in the early evening than I have had in the last 2 years. I can slowly start to see my skills coming back, but still a ways to go before I am as good as I used to be. I should be "top of the A-Main" material again by the end of the summer I hope. It will be nice to go to a race with a firm grasp of my cars, though - hasn't been the case in a few years.

I am having a blat on the track - it turned out really great - better than I expected and better than many tracks I have been to. Small in size perhaps, but the fairly narrow lanes and busy , technical layout make for upper 20 second "fast" lap times and low 30s my current average. I should be able to clip off 25 second laps in a month or so with any luck. :)

Hey Mike, good to see your new track, it looks sweet.

and its comforting to know im not the only one not to get any track time in the last couple of years either :mdr:

rootar 08.15.2011 01:22 AM

Awsome

HOLY CRAP. Now that is one sweet looking track setup. That track must take a lot of work to get it looking so clean and having the white sand in the gaps is great for a one weekend event, but it would never stay that nice. Still that is an awsome looking track. Must have been a lto of fun to play on. Very cool.

pinkpanda3310 08.15.2011 09:02 AM

I wish I could make the time to go racing, it looks like fun.

The on/off throttle that Mike was doing, is that from being out of practice? I thought that was more of a nitro thing:neutral:
