Yes, if you want to use much cells, you just need to pay the price.. ;)
|
with 2200s your gonna get like 3-4 minutes of runtime.
|
Thewanderer motors are made by Feigao to BK's specs. The windings are the same from motor to motor, and as candyman said, they simply measure differently (Bk states rpm figures under load, while Feiogao states them unloaded). So, the wanderer 7xl would be the same motor as the Feigao 7xl, but with some upgraded bearings and a different color basically. The 9920 could handle the 8xl on 20 cells. The 30/36 cell controller also have a 42000 rpm limit, which will change the motor selection(9xl perhaps). The micro series controller also has a few more programming options via cable than the warrior series, but is a bit more expensive. 20 gp2200 cells will fit quite nicely in the g-maxx chassis as well, and will weigh less than the 16 cells you have now.

I posted my brushless Revo utilizing the GP2200's back on 03.24.2005 here: Brushless Revo
I have run my truck on 18 2200's and 18 3700's with approxmately the same performance but the 3700's did seem to have a little more punch, not much though. I usually run the truck with 20 2200's. The 2200's last around 14 minutes under race conditions. I found that out the hard way because I was racing in a 15 minute A-Main against the nitros. I barely made it through the last minute but still took second place. Running 18 GP3700's, I get over 20 minutes of runtime but the weight difference is around 8 oz  My motor is rated at 18 cells, 1200 watt's and 2500 kv. The controller can handle 21 cells and I have been running 20 cells with no problems (heat or otherwise) In my opinion, the 2200's are the best high voltage solution next to Lipoly. |

With the airplane controllers they are talking about 12 and 24 mhz (12 for the 36120/36150 and 24 for the 3670 and 3695) Mike; could you please email BK to ask if they have got a 36120 in 24mhz? I can't find the right user manual right now, but i once read about these controller handling a much higher rpm range on a two pole motor. I'm going to search for that right away. |
|
The 30/36 cell controllers that are currently available have the rpm limit. BK actually puts a sticker on the controllers that indicate this. They have intentions of addressing this rpm limit in the near future, but as of last week, they had not addressed it yet. I ask them about this when I speak with them (every couple weeks!).
|
Okay, would you please let me know when they got rid of this limit?
The 3695 and the 3670 are version 2 and work on 24 instead of 12 mhz. So the 3695 would do more than 42k. I will try my 7XL on 14/16/18 cells first with a centerdiff converted maxx.. (with the warrior controller) it might take some time though, but it will try it sooner or later. |
On 36 cells, the 95 amp limit should be more than enough for an e-maxx(over 4000 watts!). Maybe a go kart would need more amps! I will be sure to keep you informed of the new version of the larger controllers(although I have the feeling you will know as quickly as me, Sherlock!).
|
Mike and his go cart..
4kw x 91%eff = 5bhp Okay, it would blast Candymans Maxxbling right thru the moon.. Though 24 cells and a ' hot' turn motor, is it likely that the controller stays in one piece? (without smoke, or getting black?) |
Very likely! The 95 amp controllers are pretty tough (like the warriors). 24 cells would provide plenty of juice to propel Ryan's truck into the stratosphere.
|
What can i say..
He's just powerhungry.. Ryan, we sorted it out. 20 cells on the 8XL with the warrior 9920, if you got the urge to take your maxx on a trip around the moon, (>20 cells) and like a 42K rpm+ use the 3695 controller. What's the price on this controller Mike? |
I think 36/95 controller could be had for around $375 (my price list is from last year, but this should be pretty close).
|
I just got in from work, i think I missed half the discussion! Just a couple of questions here. Are we saying the wanderer and the feigao is the same except for the bearings allowing the BK to spin to 80,000 rather that the Feigao's 50,000? if so can the feigao handle more that 18 cells? I thought it couldn't. On BK's site they seem to imply that the wanderer can handle 32 cells?
Also the main thing putting me off running over 20 cells (now we have settled on gp2200's for weight saving) was that I would need a bigger controller (amp wise) but this isnt the case is it? I could handle 24 gp2200's, if the controller is $375. but what can the motors take? |
The ability of the motor to handle the cells is dependant on its Kv value (a 5000rpm/volt motor can't take 32 cells, as the rpms would be too high for the motor or controller, however, a 1200rpm/volt motor can easily take 32 cells without over revving). This goes for any motor (Wanderer, Feigao, Lehner, etc.). Amp wise, I think the higher the cell count (using an appropriately "cooler" motor), the less the need for a high amp controller. Most of these motors are most efficient in the 30-40000 rpm range, but they can all take a lot more rpms. The Feeigaos are limited primarily by their bearings (I have exceeded the rpm limit on several Feigao motors without issue).
|
20 cells are fine with the wanderer 20XL/8 winds and you can use the 9920 controller on this motor with 20 cells.
If you are planning on using a max rpm of about 35-40k, and plannin on using more than 20 cells, I would take the 36120 over the 3695, those last 45 dollars are worth the extra 25 amps imo. |
I see, i didnt think it would be that simple!
Rene, is the 8xl on 20 cells giving me the same rpm as the big maxx? my gearing is soemwhat limited. What motor would I use on 24? |
The wanderer 20XL8 will give you 2500 rpm's more on 20 cells (38720, bigmaxx/16cells, vs the 41250rpm of the wanderer. The 9XL would give 36674 rpms. (a rough 2000 rpms less, under load.)
But 16 cells or 20 cells are a huge difference in power! (25% more power..) |
On 24 cells the 10XL is good choice..
You might ad a tooth on your pinion as well. though running it on 24 cells wil be quite a blast allready.. |
right you better get me a price on the 8XL and a 9920 controller (wasnt it? im so confused now) if that combo will run on 20 cells.
|
The controller is 199 dollars, and the motor; i simple don't know.. according to the latest info i got on them, it would be close to the price of the Feigao motors, but i haven't heard Mike about this for a while?
|
I should be able to offer the wanderer at a similar price to the Feigaos I have now (maybe a slight increase, but hopefully within $10). I won't know the actual price until I actually get them (shipping/customs fees etc. play a role here). I expect the 9920 controllers this week (and these are available anytime for drop ship). I would expect to be able to offer the xl wanderer motors for around $100.
|
All this talking want me to go fast as well....... Im usually good in math but I dont get teh formula that relates KV, RPM, volts and MPH, also how the motor relates to all this......
I have a 7XL on 16 cells right now, what RPM am I getting? What RPM would I get if I go 8XL on 20cells? or if I just go 20cells on my 7XL......... and lastly what kind of speed am I looking at with a 8XL on 20cells using 1/8 diffs and 51/?? spur/pinion? |
You are probably getting around 40000 rpms under load with good cells. speed is a function of gearing, rpms, tire size etc.
|
Strap a Rocket on that bad boy and call it NASA, lol

Thought i'd post a new video. Me doing some 180 turns, watch for the little wheelies!

Very nice! Can I ask why you are so gently on the throttle? :D
|
How you doing there rayn? Nice to see the maxx bling still going strong. Did you change out the motor and stuff yet? If so what did you go with? You are my idol. You made me want a fast truck when i saw yours in action.
|
Nice vid!!! I love the whine of a BL motor. What weight oil are you running in the center diff?
Thank you, Promod |
Candyman, Just went to you web site and saw your not running a center diff but a center slipper. How is the slipper set up working for you? It looks like the wheelies are under control.
Thank you, Promod |
CANDYMAN!!!
big fan of your truck I know you tru BYT BYT name is the same "Shadow350Z" |
Hello everybody! Ive not run the truck for a while, other things going on in my life. Also the spur gear had come loose on the slipper and stripped it. I got a new gear but there is a lot of work (dremeling) of the gear needed to get it to fit as its a 56t from the ofna 2 speed set.
The clutch is strong, its not as good as the strobe i think but it can handle this without a problem. The only prob i had before was a little too much slip leading to a lot of heat and then plastic parts getting melted. That aside it all seems good now, you have to catch it right to pop the front wheels, its a lot lighter and the centre of gravity much lower, as you can see hardly any body roll or risk of flipping over, it almost looks under control! |
Come on!! try the 18 cells instead of 16!!! come on!!
hehe.. Long time! Talk to ya later.. By the way I'll let you know when I get those gears made if you are still interested. I am just testing them which were going fine until the wheels got rounded out at the hex part. Time to upgrade to 23mm. Well actually I would ask you to help me test em but I don't think you like the idea of metal to metal..LOL |
Does any one know of any changes done to the maxx bling?
|
Yeah, the VBS is on Ryans truck now!
|
Not done anything to it since january. Ive been pretty busy with other things and the weather has been aweful. Just coming into our summer now so i'll be driving it soon! As Rene said now running VBS:

I guess we have to wait for the weather to get a new video.
Still looks good. Always have admired the maxx bling. |
It looks great Ryan.
Pity you don't fancy the skewed UE rear arms. It works great, and it would align perfectly with your VBS. |
Still looks grear Ryan.
I have always dreamed of having a truck that looks as good as yours |
