That is exactly how mine is set up now.

But, if I have a bad roll, the velcro comes slightly lose and allows the battery to come on its side where the arrows are, then come out over the Gorilla straps.

I hope you understand?

gorillamaxx 06.02.2005 04:45 PM

It would really need to come apart for that to happen. Sounds like the velcro on your straps is not holding. Velco usually needs to be pealed apart. It could be a bad piece of material, or perhaps the material has been soaked in something making the hook and loop not connect. Email me your address an I'll get you a replacement set - mail@gorillamaxx.com

Must be, if I remember when I first used them it was in Snow.

E-Mail sent, thanks alot. :)

I broke my gmaxx straps also but i have a very simple fix. I took a neddle and some thread a sewed them back together. I'ts been 3 months or longer since the repair they are still working great.

T2693 06.05.2005 09:25 PM

Nice! Good to know!

rchippie 06.05.2005 09:33 PM

Ya it works great just make sure when you sew them together you put them back together the right way. I mean put the right peice on the top and the right peice on the bottom. That way you will get a tighter fit. Besure to sew around all the edges and the middle for maxx strentgh.

i ripped my straps after about 10 runs. ripped right where the rubber washer holds it down. i think 8 cells is too much for the straps to hold. I just ordered some of those CF holddowns, so i hope that will fix the problem, and make batt swaps quicker.

rchippie 06.05.2005 11:23 PM

My straps broke where the strap goes thru the buckle.

Nick 06.09.2005 04:02 PM

Ripped Gorilla straps in the other place now, going to try some sponge and bigger washers when the next pair arrive.

Also got some longer screws to use, should definatly remove this problem then. :)

Noticed that you ran the CF straps last weekend. How'd they work for ya?

I know you're looking at running in a long main, think you'll be able to perform a quick change in ~10 seconds w/ the CF straps?

That's one thing I really like about having the batteries lower on the chassis...that you can get to them w/out having to mess w/ body clips.

Where did you see him run? He just got them and they look sick well one does. I don't get it but g-maxx needs to work on fitting the braces to their own chassis's. The brace on the steering servo side some how hit the servo. It won't go on without raising the servo up not a very hard task but you think they would have fitted it better.

RC-Monster Mike 06.10.2005 06:43 PM

With the right linkage(short) from the servo to the draglink assembly, there is no clearance problem. Any custom parts can have a tendency to require custom setups. I have my servo all the way down and the servo horn doesn't come in contact with the battery strap parts at all. Try a longer servo horn and a shorter linkage to the draglink assembly(servo saver in some cases).

supermaxx4190 06.11.2005 06:49 PM

hey mike,
do you mean shorten the linage from the horn to the draglink? i think that may work.

CHUD, the holddowns will shorten pit times a little bit. i have a 30 minute main on the 19th, so i will let you know how it goes. they are very strong and worth the money IMO

RC-Monster Mike 06.11.2005 09:46 PM

Yes, shorten the linkage from the servo horn to the draglink. A longer servo horn will also help, as it moves the wheels farther thropughout the servos range of motion.

supermaxx4190 06.11.2005 09:52 PM

which horn should i use? got a link?

RC-Monster Mike 06.11.2005 09:55 PM

What servo do you have?

supermaxx4190 06.11.2005 09:58 PM

hitec 5645

RC-Monster Mike 06.11.2005 09:59 PM

The hitec servos come with some heavy duty plastic horns that work excellent. This is what I use on the 5945 servo (instead of the aluminum, which doesn' allow a long enough throw).

supermaxx4190 06.11.2005 10:15 PM

yup i found them. what hole do you use? what color is yours?

RC-Monster Mike 06.11.2005 10:19 PM

Mine are black. I use the second hole from the furthest out.

supermaxx4190 06.11.2005 10:53 PM

i put the black one on and now it has plenty of clearence. i got both the CF hold downs on now. thanks for the help mike. sweet!

supermaxx4190 06.11.2005 10:54 PM

oh and what should i use to lube the UE servo saver? its starting to scweak.

rchippie 06.11.2005 11:39 PM

Robin says you should use a dry lube on the servo saver. You get get some at most bike shops, one brand is pedros dry lube,. There are others but i dont rember the names.

RC-Monster Mike 06.12.2005 06:13 AM

Yes, use a dry lube. This way, it doesn't attract dirt.

Serum 06.12.2005 06:18 AM

White Lightning is the name of the stuff I use for dry lubrication.
One part vaporizes and a wax film stays behind. (use it to lube my cvd's)
