yeah my poor car.. hee hee how about the music? I figure everyone has got to dig that :027:

BP-Revo 03.27.2007 03:17 AM

Thats pretty insane GD!

Yea...I've seen Jato's out-accelerate Mustang GT's and stuff. All you really have to do is look at power to weight ratio...

The average car (say, 120hp honda civic) is about 20 pounds to 1 hp. The right motor in the right R/C car can produce over 1hp per pound peak. 6000watts, which I beleive Serum said that 1950 was capable of, is over 8hp. Thats going into my G2R :D

Another thing one must realize is our cars are doing 0 to top speed, while the other car is doing 0 to 70 or whatever. My full scale car does 0-70 pretty damn quick (probably ~6.5 seconds), but it would take me ages to get to the ~160mph top speed. Then again, full size cars have 2-3 gears to get to 70mph...our R/C's have one.

jollyjumper 03.27.2007 03:22 AM

bp, keep in mind that not many batteries will deliver 6000watts.
on 4s that even impossible i think. even on 6s its a stretch.

glassdoctor 03.27.2007 03:31 AM

The battery in this car is good for almost 3hp... and the car weighs 3lbs something.... :)

even at 2hp and 4lbs... that is pretty sick....

BP-Revo 03.27.2007 03:54 AM

Well, not on anything less than like 8S yea, but even still.

It really doesn't matter to me. All I know is I saw a video of a Revo with a 1930 and it was almost as fast as I want my G2R. I figure the 1950 will have more than I ever need. I'm upgrading from an HV...so its probably going to be like going from a Civic to a M5 :D

glassdoctor 03.27.2007 03:56 AM

No.. the HV is more like a four banger camaro... all show and no go :D

BP-Revo 03.27.2007 04:03 AM

LOL - I don't think its THAT slow. I still hit 40mph, so I think it qualifies as a little Civic. :005:

glassdoctor 03.27.2007 04:08 AM

Did I say four banger? ok... let's say a V6 Camaro....

or maybe a Civic Si

Toyota Prius would be more accurate..

Well, that even better for me then. At this point the 1950 has been established as an M5 equivilant, so the slower car the HV is, the faster my 1950 is going to feel. :p

Now the 1950's just gotta get here...Mike already promised me the first 6 turn Hi-Amp.

BJE 03.27.2007 10:43 AM

Glassdoctor, where did you get those street tires?

glassdoctor 03.27.2007 10:50 AM

If...
1930 =M3
1940 =M5
1950 must be this

glassdoctor 03.27.2007 10:54 AM

They are Proline road hawgs... I don't think Proline makes them anymore. They still make them for 1/10 trucks.

These are the closest thing they have now I think.

truck road hawgs..

BP-Revo 03.27.2007 10:58 AM

Cool, but the Turbo's are right next to the exhaust (in the back of the car). This means that there is going to be ages of turbo lag.

I think I'll stick with an N/A M5...you can still get about 750 crank hp without a problem. However 815 (I think thats a wheel rating) is just insane.

Actually, I don't think there will be much turbo lag. Thats kinda a thing of the past with the newer turbos, from what I've been told. I know that with the STS turbos for the Camaros and Corvettes, there is virtually no turbo lag what-so ever, and there mounted at the very back of the car, if you aren't familiar with them.

glassdoctor 03.28.2007 12:58 AM

Ok... quiz time lol :005:

take a guess at how much faster I can make the buggy go with this setup... current best is 74mph on a peaked maxamps 5000 4s pack.... best after a couple passes is 68.4...

I have a kokam 20c 48000 4s pack to try and I can gear up and/or run bigger tires.

Hmmm.... I want to shoot for 80+ for sure...... 90mph would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!1

So that's the goal, when I get a chance to do ti over again.. hee hee.... this is starting to get fun....

BrianG 03.28.2007 01:02 AM

Sounds fun... until you wreck badly and your poor little GPS is smashed into itty bitty pieces. :)

glassdoctor 03.28.2007 01:06 AM

hee hee

actually the last thing that happened while filming... was the GPS getting ejected... lol

just a scratch or two... :)

i am conserned about the rather large storm drains that line the street there... a wipeout or glitch at the wrong time could end up with the car in the sewer...

For those wiht English as a second or third tongue.. that's where the toliet drains, hee hee

BP-Revo 03.28.2007 01:07 AM

You crazy nut GD!

The max I'll cruise on the freeway is 80 (but I'll go faster to pass people or close gaps, etc). Even so, you are gonna go faster than that with a little XXCR?

I N S A N E ! ! ! !

Squee, sorry to burst your bubble, but there is ALWAYS turbo lag. Turbo's must be given time to spool, no turbo has an instantaneous spool. The only things capable of instant spools are superchargers, since the boost they produce is proportional to the RPM of the motor (if its belt driven) or throttle (if its driven by a seperate electric motor).

Either way, I'll stick with N/A anyway...the Corvette, Viper, M5, and most high end cars are N/A for a reason. Few high end cars are Turbocharged, and most of them that are suffer in handling compare to their N/A counterparts. For example, a Turbo Carrera will get destroyed on a track by a GT3.

BrianG 03.28.2007 01:12 AM

What about this M5?

glassdoctor 03.28.2007 01:14 AM

My dream car used to be a killer big block 63-65 Vette... but now it's a Z06 Corvette.. they are just sick.... best supercar bang-for-the-buck hands down.

Its not even close right now.... maybe the new BMW Zs can make make a good case... but right now NOTHING can touch a Z06 $$$ for $$.. not even close. (Dodge Viper is the closest...?)

The only cars that beat it definitively.. cost many times more.... $500,000 and up....

:D :D :D too much vodka for me... he hee

Seriously.. a $65,000 that can hang with your run-of-the-mill half-million dollar car is insane... not just horsepwer but on the track performance.....

BP-Revo 03.28.2007 02:01 AM

Sorry GD, but hte Z06's start at $71,000 - not as cheap as you think :)

You must also realize that gearing has alot to do with it. The Z06 does "only" 196mph, and is geared such (it doesn't have the power to do anymore, so its just geared to max out at that speed). A stock Viper does well over 200 (more like ~220). This raises gearing pretty significantly.

Gear a Viper so that each gear matches the Z06 (speed wise) and the Viper will destroy the Z06. The Viper is just geared higher, thats why it is slower. It ain't slower by much though.

One has to wonder where that extra 100lb's of torque disappeared to. And the answer is gearing.

Brian, that M5 was the Twin Turbo one we have been talking about. GD posted it up on post 53.

Patrick 03.28.2007 07:58 AM

Yes GD, Hells Bells is good.
74mph is pretty good, why not go for 100:027:

Yes turbos are going to have lag (ecept maybe anti lag turbos), but a good twin, low boost system would hardly be noticably.
I don't understand how a turbo effects handling though.
Fastest car in the world uses 4 turbos, which some day I will buy.......maybe......what? it could happen!

squeeforever 03.28.2007 08:21 AM

Thats what I'm trying to say, turbo lag is hardly noticable, if at all with the right setup. I would know, I have a GMC Syclone sitting in the driveway...Can you say, "Worlds fastest production truck"?

You sure about that? I haven't looked up anything, but I'm sure I've seen a z06 tested right on 200.. and a stock viper does 220? Where did I miss that???

I saw an article last year on "tuner" supercars... like a hennsey viper or something like that.. it was the fastest top end I think but still was under 200. Maybe the gearing was changed?

Anyway... I stand by my Z06 as the best suprecar dollar for dollar. Nothing under $100K can hold it's jock strap except the Viper... which is one of the only cars that can make a case against the Z06... especially the new Viper coming out soon. Maybe that's the "stock Viper" you meant??? It's supposed to be badasss.....

hey... I never said they were cheap.. just a bargain. I know what they cost though... I spend my day hanging out at car lots.. literally :) I take care of about 40 dealers in Iowa, doing glass repair work etc...

The Viper is a nice car, but couldn't holds its own compared to a Z06. Especially the SS Z06 thats supposed to be due out late this year. 600HP :D The Corvette is just in a league of its own. Besides, top speed doesn't mean $h!t. It's how fast you can get there. Honestly, when was the last time somebody was doing 190mph on the racetrack. Certainly not on the dragstrip, and for damn sure not on a roadcourse. The LS series of motors is FAR superior. The LS7 is making 500HP with only 8 cylinders, yet the Viper's engine takes 10 to make 505. :p
