Looks sweet man!

Nice idea on the box

rschoi_75 11.21.2007 01:47 PM

If there is a lower kv, like a 4200, then it would stay cooler.

yeah you'll need a bore reducer unless you use a plastic spur.

another option would be a Lehner Basic or Basic XL, or a Kontronik Fun 500-XX. both are around $120-150.

Non-BL question: How big are the differentials in comparison to 1/8 scale differentials?

The .5 diffs are actual buggy diffs in it (buggy or truggy ratio I forget)

So the actual diff cup is the same size as the 1/8 scale diffs?

No they are not the exact same size . All the big beval gears are shaved down . They are the same size in diameter as in a 1/8 but are thinner ( shaved down ) . So they have a shallower cup, but not by much.

Got it...Thanks.

One more question...what would be a safe bet for gearing on the CRT.5 assuming I was using 2S, MM, and Neu 1509 1.5D (4500kv)?

I dont know , because this is my first time converting a crt.5. someone else will have to answer that for you.

Thanks Hippie...maybe Brian or one of the other seasoned vets will pick up the question and run with it.

I hope you got your wheel situation squared away (or should I say rounded away)....

Yes id did get it figured out. Who ever said i needed the FR wheels was right. So im going to get either traxxs rims or rpm rims. I also thought about using the B3 wheels that come with the kit. But if i do that the tire width when mounted will be a 1/4 inch narrower. I have to buy new foams because the acetone i used to soak the tires of the wrong rims split one of the foams. so im going to buy firmer foams because to stock foams were extremely soft.

I like RPM rims...I use Rit clothing dye to color them to match my paint scheme...works like a charm and looks great.

I've been using rit dye for years .

Good News

I just completed my crt.5 & took it out for it's first test run. It's a quick little sucker . They are very responseive compared to the bigger cars & trucks. So far im vey happy & excited about it. Im going to fully charge my lipo's tonight & give it another shot tommorow. Pics to follow.

What color springs is everyone running ?. I have the stock gray right know but i think i may need the blue medium springs, because of the weight of the lipo.

rchippie 11.29.2007 05:53 PM

I started having issues with my new MM today. When i pulled the trigger the car would take off, then it seemed like it would cut on & off rapidly i tried reprogramming it that did not help. So i called castle Thomas helped me diagnose the possible problem. After checking it with another motor it did the same thing. so he said the esc was the problem . So he is sending me a new one. This was only the second time i used it. He also said that usually if a esc is not going to work properly it will usually happen in the first couple of uses.

Arct1k 11.29.2007 06:46 PM

Thats jolly sporting of them - I've just had to send two MM and a ubec into them for service :(

But the up side is the last one i sent in is on its way back! :)

It really is. they are sending me a new MM without me having to send my bad one in first. they are also including a pre paid postage label for me.

Hippie,

You did a great job with you battery tray...you should sell those. I ended up using the Tekno RC Revo battery tray on my CRT.5 EXT Chassis. I got lucky because the bolt pattern matched up perfectly.

t-maxxracer32 12.01.2007 06:29 PM

that looks extrememly clean sssp very nice work.

gotta love mikes chassis.

BL_RV0 12.01.2007 09:39 PM

hey sssp what tires are those?

glassdoctor 12.01.2007 09:45 PM

Anyone have a pic with the extended chassis crt.5 next to a 1/10 truck like a T4 or Rustler?

Thanks but the credit really goes to Mike...I just assembled it.

The tires are Proline 2.2 Dirt Works.

Well...this is the best I can do...I don't have any 1/10 scale cars except for my FLM Maxxs. These are the two projects that I am working right now...just need a few more parts to make them run.:mdr:

So here are a few pics of my Extended Chassis CRT.5 next to my 1/8 CRT Pro. I have also attached a pic of the Ext CRT.5 next to the body I am planning on using...its a 1/10 scale JConcepts Nitro Rustler body (approx 15.75" long). If you are looking to put a body on the EXT CRT.5, try to find one that is about 14.75" to 15" long...this was the best I could do. I would appreciate any info on 15" long bodies if anyone here knows of any....

GO-RIDE.com 12.03.2007 05:10 PM

Ssspconcepts,

I was thinking of getting one of those Tekno battery boxes for my CRT.5 (RCM ext chassis), but it looks like it sticks out a lot over the edge of the chassis? Does this cause any problems with the body?

Does anyone know if the RCM battery box is narrower than the Tekno?

BlackedOutREVO 12.03.2007 05:12 PM

Go, No it doesnt, the bodies are wide enough to clear the batt tray

Thank's Your ext.5 looks great . im still using the stock chassis.

entjoles 12.03.2007 10:32 PM

is that a jconcepts T4 body that you are running on your crt.5??

I am also going to use a Rustler Nitro body...it has a slight bulge for the exhaust (where the battery tray now is). I had to order some longer body mounts...took forever to find them but I eventually found some that will work.

Your car must FLY! You are running 5000kv right? I just tested mine with the 4500kv neu and 3S...it is-as you said-a fast little sucker!

entjoles 12.03.2007 10:52 PM

thanks, looks like the nitro rustler size bodies are a good choice

Hippie,

Sorry...I don't mean to hijack your thread...back to your original topic-BL system for CRT.5. I will say this...the Neu 1509 1.5D and MMax ESC work great together. I was concerned I was going to have problems similar to when I tried the MMax with my 1515 motors...but not this time. Zero cogging with 15/46 gearing...temps are okay too...but it is cold outside so I guess it is hard to say.

ssspconcepts 12.03.2007 11:01 PM

one more pic

Here's the bottom...I just used two screws to mount the tray and added Velcro to the inside bottom of the tray and botom of the battery (adds some cushion and keeps it all together). The bolt pattern with the tekno tray was a perfect match on the ext chassis.

Yes my motor is 5070kv but im only running 2s, but for the little bit of time i got to run it im very satisfied with the speed . dont worry about the hijack . It's cool as long as it's about CRT.5's .

BlackedOutREVO 12.04.2007 12:05 AM

hippie, are you going to do a EXT chassis?

And how do those tires hook up?
