Yes, air compresses and water does not. However, without a wind tunnel, water is one of the best methods to use. Many auto manufacturers use water turbulence testing as well. I was not nearly as concerned with localized compression as much as flow characteristics over the body. My main point of interest was trying to get 40% of the air flowing over the body and 60% flowing around the body for downforce reasons. I got it really close with the water testing. I was only off a tiny bit in my nose downforce calculations using the water flow method. So, I merely added a chin spoiler to increase the nose downforce just a touch and bingo, it ran very stable.

Anyway, I also have a smoke pen and an annemometer. Putting the car in a gentle breeze and following the smoke line shows the same flow characteristics as my water test showed.

There is still so much guesswork in this, though. Sometimes it is best to just go out and run it to see how it works! :mdr:

my bad, must've been the normal 125amp. Assuming you can keep under 100 amps, the HV 110, seems like the best option until the MMM is released.

Even then, the MMM will only do 6s. For really high speeds, ya need high voltage to generate the power even at 100A.

zeropointbug 01.31.2008 03:07 AM

....Brian, you speak of the MMM.... are you telling me it's out?

BrianG 01.31.2008 10:31 AM

No, but all the speculation seems to agree on 6s and 200A specs...

Mattymaxx 01.31.2008 12:41 PM

the speed even in the UK there is a practice event in march and the worlds is held same date as the USA one....

Mat.

zeropointbug 01.31.2008 03:07 PM

Okay, so is there any word on it's release date? Wow, 200A that would be great.

rschoi_75 01.31.2008 03:21 PM

so far the rumor is late feb to early march.

JERRY2KONE 01.31.2008 04:15 PM

March

Joe already told us the release date looks like the end of March.

Here I am.

And for those that are looking for specs, here ya go. The MMM should be available in March. We're waiting on the things that are out of our hands right now. Boards, cases, boxes, manuals, etc. It'll be able to handle up to 6s lipo and 200A continuous. It'll also have our Castle BEC switching regulator integrated into the controller so you'll be able to dial your output voltage to your servo(s) to anything you want between 4.8v and 9v in 0.1v increments. The motors we've licensed from Steve Neu (arguably the best motors in the world). Total cost of the combo should be around $300. If any of you want to be notified when it's released shoot me an email at support@castlecreations.com and I'll add you to the list. When it's released you'll get an email from yours truly. :)
