This truck handles pretty good also.Well, accept for the occasional bottoming out also.:na::rofl:
|
Now you're just pissing me off.
|
Did you make videos on surfaces... like dirt or asphalt... I think the grass was a little high to make any evaluations from those vids...
it looks quick, but i can't really see the suspension working. Alien |
It does turn and handle rather well Zack. Nice full speed turns there without flipping, but do realize that you are sliding on grass.
Overall I think the truck looks like its running great. Its kinda hard to say any more than that since the video is speed running in the grass with a couple bump, not to mention that you maxx was off in the distance most of the videos. Go to the track out there and see how it handles and jumps! |
It slides even better on dirt. Yeah I was really intending to take the video or post up, but I had the camera and my dad said sure he'd record ( sorry the camera doesn't focus zoom in video mode at all). Will hit the BMX today with video! Hopefully will be up today or tomorrow. I'll get some vids from the street aswell, I think most will be surprised how I can get the rear to rotate with alittle brake imput even on asphalt. I'll also take a of myself manually surpressing the suspension then recording the rebound speed.

It does handle good in the grass though, lets see it in the dirt. |

Really havent't figured out the proper way to take a video, I'm learning, and there is useable info.

Hey Zack, I think your trucks handles quite well:yes:... where jumping is concerned, as said before by others, the way you land the truck will help to 'reduce' grounding out.
I did notice one or two of your landings helped with good roll out when the rears touched down first, but when you hit all four at once, it was a lot more violent and the truck bounced out of control as a result. I think it was nitrostarter that said it would be better for you to jump ramp to ramp, and I can see why he said that. looking at the asphalt vids, I can see that the truck will need a little more pre-load on the rears (and maybe even the fronts with all the squatting during deceleration). The jumps in this video, especially the second one really tick me off. It seems to me as though even when I do touch down on the rear wheels the supension is too soft which makes it bottom HARD(its audible most of the time!!!!) and bounce out of hand. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_100_1041.jpg

I too think the suspension is setup pretty well. Maybe some professional fine tuning could help but that would do it for me. Like was previously stated, its all about learning to drive and jump the truck. Learning how it will react in the air and how you can correct its orientation in the air to better the landing.
For example, look at any professional sport like Motocross or rally car racing where jumping is involved. What happened to MotoX riders when they miss their landing ramp or overshoot them, more than likely a disastrous landing and possible injuries. Take that into account while jumping. Use the downside of the ramp, don't try to over power the jump and jump across the track. Its all about throttle control and laying power down. It sure is cool to fly across the track but its not made for that. |
Great advice guys! I'm glad you said what you did. I'm really proud of the truck with its performance and mainly the durability, but I really want the landings to be alot more plush. I'm going to get 4 more Super Shocks.
I'd like to add- that the track is a huge BMX track. |
River what do you think? How do you think I should set up the scale? Should I just use a simple bathroom floor digital personal weight scale and just suspend each end of the truck on it?
|
Not sure what you are doing? but if your weighing it to check how its balanced. I would weigh each individual tire and the front 2 and rear 2. While your @ it might as well weigh left 2 and right 2 also. Dont forget to weigh the whole truck either so we have a baseline. Probably going to need a postal scale of some kind though most human scales wont work right.
