The sample I have on my desk right now is 200kV.

This is a 1 turn WYE, eight pole motor.

Will this sort of motor ever see retail?

Got my CC Baja full conversion kit installed tonight. Everything went well with the first "shake down" run at nearly 10:30 tonight in freezing cold. On a barely charged 8s lipo, it already had more power than my ESP 30.5 full mod engine. Plus it had easily 10 more mph or at least it seemed. I will verify top speed via Garmin GPS this weekend. I could already tell it had more grunt everywhere in the RPM range. Only ran for 5 minutes...it was just so cold and there was so much snow and soupy slush that I was avoiding. It was kind of cool to run my baja late at night right in front of my house and NOT piss off my neighbors. So far so good. More results to come this weekend. Thanks Castle for making this kit. My baja will see some miles now! 8s is fast...and I hear 12s is coming this year.

Of course!

nativepaul 01.14.2011 11:19 AM

With 200kv you need 100Volts even to spin it as slow as a gas motor, are you working on a 30s ESC? If so how are you dealing with the safety aspect, 3x separate 10s pack inputs which are series connected internally within the ESC?

No, this particular motor and wind is for an airplane application, it wasn't designed for a car application. For car applications we will use a .5Y wind and probably a shorter rotor.

We don't want people playing with 100VDC sources.

Arct1k 01.14.2011 12:07 PM

This looked like a drone motor perhaps? ;)

Would a .5y wind double the kv? So this would be for use with the XL HV (my name for it, what are you calling it?) on 12s lipo?

Just wanted to say it is great having the "Big Cheese" of a company here answering all of our questions!!! Keep up the good work, I am sure it will pay off (literally)!!!

Sounds like the perfect motor for my electric bike!

Just need to find a 100v sensorless controller... :surprised:

That's not a problem. Just put a disclaimer on the package/site. And if people choose to ignore the warnings, well, that's when Darwin's theory takes over.

Seriously, nativepaul's suggestion of having three seperate power lead pairs for 3 10s packs sounds like a good idea. Just need something like a Hyperion 1030i "Trio+" (400w x 3) to charge them.

Parallel charging?

BrianG 01.14.2011 03:23 PM

I personally don't like parallel charging. Heck, I don't even like 2p packs.

I understand, not having each cell monitored bothers me too, as I like to leave the charger alone while charging. I do not have the time or desire to watch it always.

Why Castle does always read my mind :yipi:

Would it be possible to have this motor with a 1" shaft on both sides ?
And "made" for Cars with this KV rating
