Yeah, it does sound like something was bad from the get-go.
Good luck with getting S&T to simply send you a new one! |
I'm THIS close to buying a Mamba Max, you know for the mean time between when each of the Quark failures. :025:
You try and prevent one thing that happened to you, then you get a kick between the legs with another problem. |

Hopefully the replacement, 3rd controller, will last. |
What the hell is with all these Quarks blowing up! I feel for all you guys, I really do! I mean, do they have 2yr olds making these or something?!?! I'm afraid to run mine now; I already smoked it once!
Bye:018: |
Zeropointbug, your are so bad luck.

ZPB,
You should email them right away. I'm sure that we aren't the only ones having problems like this. They may have some kid in the back soldering these things up for them, while the main guys work on the new esc. Who knows? I know that I won't be buying any more S&T products, even when the new esc is released. Now that I think about it, it might be something that S&T is aware of. When I first started having problems with my second Monster Pro, Frank was kind of quick to say "fax us the receipt and we'll refund your money." When have you ever had a manufacturer say that? I've never heard that before, from a manufacturer. I've gotta admit that I expected a lot more from the Monster Pro, with all of the positive comments that have been made about it. When I got my first one and I opened the case to see about adding the caps, I thought, "man, this thing is kind of dinky." Lots of flex in the pcbs and they looked thin to me, considering how long they are; and as pretty as the case is, it serves no purpose, except to hold the heat in. I'm really hoping that my Compro gets here soon. That esc is built really well. It didn't have that feeling of fragility. If it hadn't been for the software issues that I was having, I think I would have liked it a lot. |
Hey everyone, thanks for the remorse. :025: I am going to phone Frank tomorrow, if I don't feel like talking to anyone (they will hear it in my voice), I will just email, and send pics of it.
AAngel: Believe me, the Quark is an awesome controller, I still want one, the smoothness is just incredible, and addictive. You prob never got a chance to feel the Quark in 'action', from what you said happened to it. Which controller are you guys talking about? The 125C version? Or is the upcoming Plasma controller? |
With the QC issues that I've seen, I'm not to wild about Quark these days. As far as the Plasma goes, it's just going to be another 1/10 scale controller. It isn't going to be the cure all for us large scale guys.

I have 3 of these in operation right now ranging in age from 1 1/2 years old to about 4 months old and the only problem I ever had was when I ran it though a bunch of standing water and fried it. (quark had a free warranty replacement for that one back to me 2 weeks from the day I mailed it)
You guys are having a string of bad luck or there is something seriously wrong in the Quality department at quark. I wonder if they have recently "cost reduced" these things. If I were you it would be time for me to make a stink over at S&T... ZPB, I do agree with you about the quark when its working right. There isn't any other controler that I have ever tried that is even close as far a smoothness. I can make a quark cog. I like that. |

Yeah, I was going to say that earlier, their Quality Control is going of course or something. I would have thought these things are tested before they go out, you know?
AAngel: I remember you saying before that your Quark would not go slow, and it would start abruptly? When, and I mean 'when' the Quark is working :005: the speed at minimum throttle is amazing, it's very slow, and smooth, never cogs. BTW, the time it took my Quark to be shipped off to Quark for replacement, you bought your first Quark, you got it, you fried it, sent it back, got it back. I still had not received mine back from S&T... ain't it the best to be out of country. |
