Wow - I missed this post. I actually tried 2.2 truck wheels myself a couple weeks ago. I robbed my Associated GT2 stock wheels and tires and the Bowties off my T4 and took the .5 for a spin on the track. I had some issues with the Proline splines rubbing but no issues with the Associated wheels. The few laps I did get in before I shut it down (due to the rubbing) convinced me to invest in a set of the truck tires. I went to my LHS and picked up a set of the Associated Rear wheels and the last pair of Snake-eyes. I had to order the other pair of tires and am still waiting on them. I think the extra ground clearance will offset any handling losses at the track I run at. Check out my video with the stock buggy tires and you'll see my truck constantly flipping over on the straights. The ruts and sometimes small chunks of dirt are just brutal.

Brian - did you need to re-gear for the added diameter of the snake-eyes?

On a side note I raced it for the first time a couple weeks ago in the 1/10th gas truck class ( no other electrics out that night). If I could have kept it off it's lid I probably would have done better. I think I already admitted in another thread how poorly I drive. I did open some nitro eyes though when I opened it up on the straight. :027: Two five minute quals (3rd and 2nd) and then 4th (15 seconds separating 2nd-4th - good thing I didn't have to pit :dft001: ) in the 10 min main.

10L? Why? IMO, that's just wasteful overkill for a motor in that thing. I'd also be willing to bet you'll have a hard time loading that motor enough to keep it cool in such a light vehicle.

Possibly, but I want a motor with a 5mm shaft. I don't think I could get an S sized motor with 5mm shaft. (besides a Neu 1506) Also, I don't like the idea of a bore reducer. I think a 10L on 3s should be some what tame:027:

FWIW, the bore reducer Mike has now are steel and look really nice. They fit perfectly without being hard to insert, yet no slop. Pretty accurate.

I don't know, I have a MM5700 already for it. What do you guys think; 10L or 5700? I am looking for a good 35-40mph setup. I'm leaning towards the 10L...

For that speed, I'd go with the L personally. And if you decide to go with the larger tires, you'll need it because of the added weight.

I really don't see why you guys don't think a standard length motor will do 35-40 in it? Hasn't there already been someone on here that has a 4600 in theirs that went that fast?

IMO, a L can motor is still way overkill for a small vehicle like this. I'll probably be putting a GM-Racing 5.5 in mine using a bore reducer. It's close to the kv of a MM 5700, but IMO, it's a much better quality motor than the MM motor.

Has anyone sorted the Kyosho spur issue yet?

If you are going to use 2.2" tires, the added weight and overall "gearing" because of the added tire diameter, I would go with the 4600 on 3s and use a 12T pinion. Even then, things may get hot.

Nope, no plastic spur option yet.

I'm not sure if you were responding to my post or not, but I don't plan to run truck sized 2.2's, nor 3S in mine. I'll be using a Trakpower pack and the stock tires.

If you are using stock tires should be fine with a 5700 on 2s, geared with a 13T pinion.
