Unprecedented Versatility With T-Lock differentials and High-Low Transmission
Only Summit™ gives you the ability to lock the differentials and shift from low to high gear right from the transmitter. No need to break from the action to swap gears or install locking parts. Tear up the trail in "high range" with a 25:1 ratio for dirt-slinging speed. When the terrain turns technical, drop it into "low range" for a 70:1 ratio and unreal climbing torque. For the ultimate in climbing traction, flip the T-Lock switch to lock the front differential. Need even more grip? Activate the rear T-Lock diff for fully-loaded 4WD power no matter which tire is gripping or slipping

BrianG 11.04.2010 10:09 AM

OK, so what are the gear tooth counts for each speed?

Will this do ?
They are similar to an E-Maxx 3905 with 2 speed

Summit transmission added. Thanks SnoopMaxx!

your welcome :eyes:

That pic you drew is a combination of a 3-gear setup (2nd gear) and a 4-gear setup (1st gear). Then, there are two versions of 1st gear (wide and close ratio). Took me a minute to see what your pic meant, but was easy after that.

:mdr: Well all my years as a machinist hasn't gone to wast then

In case anyone hasn't noticed, I recently did a complete overhaul of the select lists (drop downs). Before, they were actual select lists, but I never liked the limited styling they offered, so I developed a DHTML replacement API. It works fine in IE, FF, Chrome, Opera, but I am not sure how they work in "lesser" browsers such as the ones found on mobile devices (particularly Android and iPhone). So, if anyone has such a web-enabled phone, please let me know if they work for you. And if not, what do they do or not do, or any error messages. Thanks!

thzero 11.18.2010 12:52 PM

Nice, however could you just do a plain white or maybe very very light gray background? The checkerboard makes it harder to read.

I just did a quick test on an Android (Nexus One, Froyo 2.2, standard browser) and they worked fine even the searching.

BrianG 11.18.2010 12:56 PM

Thanks for looking!

You know, I had lightened up the background image, but I guess I forgot to FTP the updated image to my server...

Bmr4life 11.18.2010 01:03 PM

Tried it on my android with dolphin browser. Only problem is I can't scroll inside the drop down.

BrianG 11.18.2010 01:21 PM

Well, it turns out that the Dolphin browser doesn't correctly support the CSS "overflow" property; it shows both "scroll" and "auto" as "hidden". Definitely a bug: http://www.quirksmode.org/webkit.html

That kinda sucks in today's age of highly stylized webpages. I wonder what other content you are missing out on that you didn't know existed?

I know this isn't an ideal answer, but how about upgrading to Chrome? I would imagine Chrome and Android, both being Google technologies, should work well together...

Bmr4life 11.18.2010 01:33 PM

Not much. I don't surf on my phone. I tried your website because you asked. Otherwise I use one of my computers.

BrianG 11.18.2010 04:53 PM

Oh ok. Thanks for checking for me!

BTW: I added Losi's 8th and 10th scale sensorless motors. But their power ratings are rather inflated! I had to add a special note on the "car/truck setup guide" page saying that the published power spec of some motors may not be totally accurate. 2200w continuous power for the 2400kv 8th scale motor??? C'mon, Castle's 1717 motor isn't even rated for that! It's no wonder why some people think Losi's motors are crap if they expect to generate that kind of power on a continual basis!

simplechamp 11.29.2010 05:54 PM

Brian, what do you think about adding the Slipperential spurs to the list on the calculators?

SnoopMaxx 11.29.2010 06:24 PM

What spur ?
The Slipperential gear is already there under transmission

Morten

simplechamp 11.29.2010 06:54 PM

That is the V1 Slipperential that is discontinued, which I think had some type of gear reduction and was more like a transmission. The current Slipperential is this: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...rential&cat=40

It has a range of available spurs, and is used in place of a regular center diff.

SnoopMaxx 11.29.2010 06:58 PM

ahh yeah the V1 had a 2,2 reduction
I should read the fine print :rules:

Morten

BrianG 12.01.2010 04:18 PM

Mike's slipperential spurs have been added...

thzero 12.02.2010 09:22 PM

Wheely King transmission gearing:

15 Tooth on same axle as Spur
22 Tooth Idler
28 Tooth Output with drive shaft attached

Tires:

ProLine 3.8" BigJoes: 6.38"
ProLine 3.2" Badlands: 5.84"
ProLine 3.8" Trenchers: 6.89"
ProLine 5th Scale Badlands (Rear): 6.84"
ProLine 5th Scale Badlands (Front): 6.89"

BrianG 12.03.2010 01:32 PM

That info has been added. Thanks!

thzero 12.03.2010 05:24 PM

The two 3.8" ProLine tires are really ProLine Series 40 tires. :)

BrianG 12.07.2010 10:55 AM

@thezero: I'll have to fix that...

A project I want to start is making a plotting page where people can copy/paste the raw Eagletree (or Castle) log files and the page will plot out the results. This would negate the need for cumbersome screenshots and allow the ability to zoom in if desired. But first, I would like to get a few different ET and CC log file samples to see what I'm dealing with and to do some testing. So, if you have some, please post here. You can attach text files up to 1MB, but if the file is too big, zip it and then attach the zip file.

thzero 12.07.2010 11:36 AM

Can you post the Savage Flux with the 39t idler?

39/23 x 29/32 = 1.54

simplechamp 01.03.2011 03:35 AM

Request to add LRP Vector 8 motors to the list. 2500kv and 2800kv.

BrianG 01.05.2011 11:39 AM

Done (thzero) and done (simplechamp).

simplechamp 02.03.2011 11:56 PM

Definitely let us know when you get that spring rate calculator up and running. Maybe we (well, you  but I'd be happy to contribute) could even start a database of springs, with rate, length and diameter, # of coils, etc. Like the other ones you have for motors and dogbones. Many shock springs are rated, but I think even more aren't. It would be nice to be able to compare actual rates, instead of just "the red springs are soft, the blue are medium."

BrianG 02.04.2011 10:52 AM

Sure, just need the data.

E-Revonut 02.10.2011 01:33 AM

Been awhile since I used the calculator, I noticed a few changes. You took out the 1/8 buggy & truggy typical diffs and replaced them with RC8 and RC8T. There is a problem with this, the RC8 buggy uses a typical truggy diff ratio 4.3:1, so if someone uses the calculator and doesn't know this they may have a problem

silentbob343 02.10.2011 03:15 AM

Hyper Mini STE
3.9 differential
41 stock spur

No, the "typical" diffs are still there. Look under "miscellaneous". Or, type in "typical" in the search field in the drop-down.

I can add that, but what are the actual tooth counts for the diff gears?

thzero 02.10.2011 11:14 AM

HPI GT-2 Tires... 160mm/6.3" diameter.

Btw the "Proline 3.8 Big Joes" are the same thing as the "Proline 40 Series Big Joe"; just have a duplicate tire. The "Proline 3.8 Trenchers" tires are a 40 series too. Proline has the, the 40 series, listed on their website as "<tire name> 3.8" (40 Series)".

Are you sure it's 41T? I was looking on Tower to get the pitch and the only spur I could find for the mini STE was 42T Mod1...

I'd have to count, but IIRC the 10SC uses a 42t and the STE a 41t. I'll let you know once I count mine.

simplechamp 03.12.2011 11:57 AM

Brian, are you still considering adding the spring rate calculator to the site?

jhautz 03.15.2011 12:28 PM

Brian,

Can you add the Mugen MBX6e into the calculator? Diff ratio is 44/13. Thanks man! Center dif spur gear is 44T or 46T both sizes come with the kit.

Also, can you add the Losi SCTE? Same dif ratio as the Ten-T but just making it easier to find is all. Center dif has a 40T mod1 gear on it. I also didnt see the RCM 52T 32 pitch Ten-T gear on the list.

BTW. Every time I use your site I'm always amazed at how much useful info there is there!! Keep up the great work!!.

BrianG 03.22.2011 12:26 PM

Added the stuff you requested jhautz...

BrianG 04.04.2011 02:19 PM

Update:

Added a couple new sections to the Lipo Wiring page; 1) A section showing a more real-world diagram of how lipo packs are wired, and 2) a section showing how to measure individual cell voltages.

Might not be much use to many people here, but I've seen questions relating to these things often at various places.
