HA!!

Caught me! Man, I only ran my prior one 3 times and I regret selling it. So I had to pick up this work of art from MC.

nitrostarter 10.25.2010 09:37 PM

MC: Wow! Theres sooo many extra parts in here!! Thanks a bunch! Great seller and great deal!

Put my electronics in there. And charged up some 6s packs.

Those big ole tires sure get squirrelly when they balloon at high speeds. Looks like I broke the tape loose on one of the Mashers. O well. I'll keep beating it.

I definitely need to gear down. Its too fast on 6s as it is. And I need to tighten up on the slipper clutch, it was SMOKING!

All in all, its was a great deal from MC. I'll do a little tuning of my own to get it where I like it. I'm having fun with it so far! The low CG battery setup definitely helps!!

By the way, I don't know if you noticed in all the spare parts you have but there's a genuine MC 8th scale center diff for that Revo tranny in there.

That is one item I examined pretty closely! Thanks!

I want to say that Ray's custom work is really top notch! The finished product on this conversion as well as the spares and such that were custom finished look professional and clean! Very good craftsmanship here, you can see the pride in his work!

So I'll keep this thread alive...

After 3 packs through this truck, I'm glad I bought it thats for sure.

On the 2nd pack, the run ended short when the rear motor support came out of the slot on a big crash. It allowed the motor's front endbell to come apart from the can. I'm not sure what happened during production of this Neu motor. The front endbell only has 1 small Allen set screw holding the front endbell in place. Normally there's 4 of them.

So I pulled the Neu motor out and inspected everything. The motor still runs fine.

But I wanted to try the CC1520 motor that I picked up on the sale in here. I installed it and geared her with a 22t pinion instead of the 26t used on the Neu. I just ran the 3rd pack through it. The 1520 is seems just as strong and ran just as cool! No issues here. I did not install the rear motor brace again, yet...

I noticed, one of the Mashers in the rear came un-taped. The problem this causes if it makes the truck pull hard on some high speed passes.
I'm definitely in the market for some good low-profile 40 series bashing tires tho.

I'm thinking of getting a CC1717 to run in here on 6s as well. I'll definitely need to support the rear of this motor...

mistercrash 10.28.2010 11:04 PM

Cory, you might want to call Neutronics about that 1521. The motor had just gotten back from them and had a couple runs on it only when I shipped the truck to you. They replaced the stator. I have the receipt for the repair that was done under warranty. If you want it I will send it to you.

nitrostarter 10.28.2010 11:14 PM

MC if you don't mind send it to me, I'd appreciate it.

I don't think its that they forgot to put screws back in. Its that only 1 screw was used total when 4 are normally used. On some models, Neu got rid of this design and went to the 2 piece design similar to the Medusa motors where the front endbell and can are 1 piece and only the rear endbell is removable.

I'll definitely call them and see if I can't send it in for the other screws to be put in or have the can swapped out for the newer design...

Thanks MC.

mistercrash 10.28.2010 11:17 PM

You'll have to PM me your address again. I'll send the receipt tomorrow. That must have been one hell of a crash

nitrostarter 10.28.2010 11:35 PM

It was a high speed tumble into a lightpole...

PM on the way.

nitrostarter 11.03.2010 12:24 AM

Finally took the Neu down and looked at the front end bell. The reason there is only 1 set screw on the front is because the front end bell is actually screwed on to the can. The screw is there to keep it screwed on. I guess the wreck was bad enough to free the rear end support and allow these threads on the front to strip. I didn't catch it in time so the can bounced a bit and gawled the thread so that the front endbell now basically slides on to the can. These Neu's are surely powerful motors but are meant for boating or air/heli applications.

I'll definitely be sending this motor back to Neu to have the can replaced. Hopefully they have the new style cans in the 1521 size where the front endbell is part of the can.

Otherwise, the CC1520 is doing just fine in the beast, with no rear motor support also. It sure is a power house like the Neu motor.

I'm still on the hunt for some good low profile 40 series tires. I'll probably settle for the 40 series Bowties are they are still really grippy on all terrains.

nitrostarter 11.10.2010 08:44 PM

Got the paperwork the other day Ray. Much appreciated!! I'll be giving Neu a call tomorrow to see what we can do.

Meanwhile, I got a CC1717 from the castle sale. I think I may put this in the LST and give it a shot.

However, this may be on the chopping block soon... I've been dating my girl for the longest and i finally feel its time to get married, get our own place, yada yada... So I'll be buying an expensive rock soon, and I could use the spare cash. Everything I have will be up for sale over the weekend... Chargers, Lipos, trucks, motors, etc...
