you shoult connect the mount with the chassis, with a bracket:
http://s8b.directupload.net/images/090127/wvul7rgn.jpg

like that you have
-no flex at all
-the chassis turns into a heatsink

its quickly done and it works. I have two mounts, one for a bigger motor (kb45xl), all alu in L-shape, and one made of alu and carbon for a 36mm motor, which ist definately stiffer. the one for the kb killed the teeth of the center-diff due to a minimum of flex.

aluminium is less stiff then eg. glassfiber, carbonfiber, and it is possible that it is still flexing a little.

Connected to the chassis it also reduces the forces at the center-diff mount. its made of plastic, and it could flex like that very little as well.

i thought so too, but apparently that is supposed to be a flexing chassis, and bolting the mount to it would make handling suck

hmm, allright. still, I guess the rest is still able to flex, it's just the center of the chassis. front and back wouldn 't change, I don't know.
maybe u just try it, and when it sucks, just remove the screws.

cool truggy btw!

then again, for those whove seen red vs blue, theres the always the grif option(aka screw it im too lazy)

i tried to tell ben to try that when we made the mount. he was like nahh

I dont see the mount flexing. i did a stationary test on carpet the other day, put the front wheels against the wall and gunned it. nothing moved.. with the old mount the aluminum would flex andthe pinion would walk up the spur gear until it no longer meshed and would skip.

I think i found a winner with this mount.

Damn, you sure break your truggy a lot.

Update

I have been bed ridden for the day with some weird virus. Joint pain swelling and hives.. yuck.

Did a small mod to the rear body mount of the matrix to get it to sit better on the chassis. More level and less of an air gap between the two(i cant stand that). definately gives the truck a cleaner overall look. I need to install my mudguards now that the body goes down far enough.

Next is going to be a waterproof case like that found on the Mr. Constructor chassis' to keep water and dirt out. We have 2-3 inches of fresh snow on the ground :)

BL_RV0 02.04.2009 12:38 AM

That looks much better.

brushlessboy16 02.04.2009 12:39 AM

Thanks, think i might end up getting another kyosho crowdpleaser. looks good when they fit

Snow bashing today... I like snow over mud- snow melts and no cleaning is required

Mini- Update

http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...0309091516.jpg

Finally got my Novak battery trays, They are pretty nice peices and definately a step above the handmade predecessors.

I turn seventeen on monday (w00t license)! and should be bringing in a decent amount of cash, RCM motor mount is next on the list, along with some new rubber and a body.

brushlessboy16 03.12.2009 03:37 PM
