Yah Patrick, I'm actually going to use CC to build the ESC since they are so reliable in their estimate dates for new products hahahahaha. One of the local high school wood shops has one, should have ran over to use theirs for that last cut of the day :)
Lutach (think I misspell that often, sorry) if you find something like the tcs for a good price let me know please. |
Don't count to many chickens till they hatch. My father got into a fight with a forklift and lost. He smashed his hand pretty bad in it. Broke a lot of the bones 5 and 6 times over. The doctors told him he would never be able to use his hand again. Today he has 100% use of it. If fact he has the incredible ablility to tell you the weather with it. Says it hurts when a storm is coming in. Might just be him though. 15 years ago he had cancer and was given 6 weeks to live. He is still here to see his grand kids.

Now thats just plain weird, but handy too.
On the subject of mini water pumps, it would be worth looking at PC modding websites, as I know for certain I have seen some little 6-12v pumps that go with watercooling setups, and Im sure some of them would be suitable. I'll post up some links later if I can find them again... |
Thanks HickoryHead, that's just the kind of thing I like hearing nowadays!
Weather joke: In a small town somewhere in America there was a radio weatherman, everyday he would forcast the weather incorrectly. Everyday someone would call in, to tell him to go see the indian chief down on the reservation as the chief would allways predict the weather correctly. Every day the weather man was wrong, everyday the chief was right. Everyday someone would call and tell the weatherman to go see the chief.... So finaly the weatherman broke down his pride and went to see the chief. He arrived to find the chief in his wigwam and proceeded to ask him for the weather. The chief raised his staff, waived it about and proclaimed the tomarrows weather would be sunny (Ha, hought the weatherman "it's sure to rain tomarrow"), the next day came and sure enough it was a beutiful sunny day. Very upset the weatherman went back to the chief and grilled him about how he managed to forcast so accuratley. After some discussion the chief conceded to show him his secret. The chief after swearing the weatherman to secrecy pulled back his deer skin blanket to reveal a small am radio, he then explaned how everyday there is this radio moron who would come on to forcast the weather, what ever the moron said the chief would just say the opposite! :) |
I was in a motorcycle accident many years ago, while I was playing in the band. I was thrown 42 feet through the air and impacted into the side of the mountain. It was all jagged rocks. I was knocked out. Ruptured kidney, bit the tip of my toungue off, big hole in my helmet, broken left leg, right leg had been cut right around my knee almost all the way around and went down past my ankle. Other small injuries. It cut all the nerves in my leg. I was told I'd never walk properly again. For 6 months I had that pins and needles feeling when you fall asleep with your leg hanging over the end of a couch or something. I had to learn to walk again with this floppy limb.... well I just retired from hockey as a goalie, so I guess the knee turned out pretty good after all. I still have no feeling in my leg and I can tell when it's going to snow.
You just need to be diligent in rehab and believe you will heal. I took a beating in hockey and had many injuries, even to that same leg (I played Div 1 for many of those years) and the only injuries that really bothers me in my old age now is my ankle, and I never even went to the doc when I busted that, so it's my own fault. |
Thanks pipeous, I my holding out hope and have a good feeling about rehabing the finger. I've got realy strong hands fron twisting wrenches so the strength is there. I've got feeling (though I'm not sure about how it ends up where the scar tissue will be on the tips of my fingers...) so I'm good there. The only hard part about moving them, is how tight the skin is where it was stiched, and the pins... still no time frame on when they come out.

Tight.
Well the skin will be tight for a while due to the swelling in your hand. Even if it does go down it will hold some of the swelling due to the amount of damage you did to it. That may take a few weeks before it goes completely down and then things will ease up some. Having feeling at this point is really a good sign. That shows promise. Full recovery is always relative to the amount of total damage that is done. Still from the looks of your photos I believe that you will end up with only a small amount of loss. Stay tough and just know that no matter what happens that you are still going to move forward. Positive thinking can create miracles so to speak.
I have to say that I have seen much worse. Do you watch the "Home Extreme Makover" show? The British guy tore his hand up with a cutting tool with a chainsaw disc attached to it. It mangled his hand so badly that he never thought he would regain the use of it again, but he is nearly back to full use and still doing the show as a master carpenter. No worries mate. |
you know the funny part of my leg breaking was it happened after I got out of the hospital. all the damage in the accident was on my right side of my body... I only had 3 stitches on my left leg, 56 on my right and plastic surgery. btw I was the passenger on the bike, which is why I got pitched so hard when the bike crashed. My father worked for ICBC, and because of that I had to meet an independant insurance adjuster after the fact. he was out for lunch, so my bud said let's shoot a game of pool why we wait. I was walking with crutches and used the left leg mostly. I got up to shoot and turned a bit to look at a shot and pop... hey dude my leg kind of hurts... he heard the pop too. well the emergency said it was nothing and to see my family Doc. she took xrays and the tech showed them to me in the elevator ride back up and the outer bone had a hairline fracture that opened up. I couldn't have a cast or I'd lose all mobility so we tensor bandaged it up. I refused the prescription for pain killers because I think that slows the healing down, and I hate taking meds. Doc was shocked I handed back that paper and said no thanks... I lived near the top of what they called 1000 steps in Trail, BC. I walked those stairs twice a day. must have looked funny since I flopped one leg and the other couldn't bend. I had to use my crutch on my right foot when driving to push the gas pedal (had to do grocery shopping somehow) but at least my left could still work the clutch and brake.
I think Docs try to prepare us for the worst by giving a worse case scenario, but the human mind can overcome a lot. I use a lot of natural healing type stuff. My hockey buddies got use to the smell of my fav balm Zeng Gui Shui. It smells kind of like tiger balm, but it speeds the healing process by increasing blood flow to the area. don't get it in an open wound and wash before going to the bathroom (I made the mistake of using it on a pulled groin once.... the wife fell out of bed laughing as I went screaming, literally, for the bathroom to wash up LOL). I learned about that stuff long ago from a martial arts instructor. now you can get it most health food stores and it really works. |

A friend of mine has really bad nerve problems and he has limited use of his hands, but it didn't stop him for making one of the coolest wheelie bar I've seen. I had to buy it from him.

Yep, 6061-T6 1/8" and 1/4" aluminum, to be exact. It's a chassis and motor/spur gear mount (direct drive, no tranny) for my rock crawler. Some of you guys have had been roughed up pretty bad, it sounds like! Somehow I always manage to only come out with scrapes and minor cuts. I mean, today I went skiing and did my first double diamond run ever (6 times total) and even as the snow became slush from the 60 deg. weather I was lucky enough to not get hurt. Same thing when my buddy and I tried out some lip-jumps on diamond runs, one time I tried to get too much air, and fell without injury (despite BREAKING a buckle from the ski boot!). Some might call it skill, I simply call it luck! |
There is definately a skill involved in crashing. Sometimes though it just isn't enough. Good luck with your hand. I'm sure it will heal up well.

Got a kick in the gut today. Seems my motor idea may (does in almost every aspect) infringe on an exsisting patent... hours of hopes and cad drafting straight into the toilet.
Here's the link... http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-P...nkless+engine" I'm going to bed. Mabey I'll have a better outlook on this tomarrow :( |
