I sent my NEU 1521 in for service and it came back with the screws. They are to hold the end bell in more securely.

ok, that expalins why I was having trouble putting the dust cover on. The older Neu motors did not have the screws, so the cover just slipped on. The new motors have screws which the cover was not designed for, so it is a tight squeeze to get them to fit.

Phatmonk, the dates on the boxes (Neu motors) are 03/19/08 for the 1512/2D/F and 03/12/08 for the 1515/1Y/F.

So is there going to be a new rear dust cover?

We just tried something that worked great. An outwears pre filter for a savage filter fits over the neu perfectly. sure it hangs out a bit but it provides good dust and water protection. I am picking one up today from the lhs for mine after we did that my my bud's e revo

Any chance you can post up a pic and do you know the size of it?

I made my own foam cover. I cut a thick chunk of foam and hollowed part out, cut slots for the motor wires and zap strap it to the motor can. I used a little oil on the foam too to grab the dirt. I just cleaned the motor last night and seems to work good as there was little crud in the motor.

Got a pic?
