The second batch is coming soon -- we are finalizing a circuit change on the "brain" board. Production will resume about 1 week after changes are finalized.

So how long do you estimate before they will be back in the stores? I am in basically the same situation as MacII. My erevo will be here today and I really think it will drive me nuts just looking at it while a wait for an esc.

So do you have any updates on motors? How far off are we for those? Thanks

Sorry gixxer -- I can't really give a firm answer -- it depends on some testing that will happen over the next few days. The 1 week lead time to production might start this Monday, it might be the Monday after that. I wish I could give a better answer, but I don't have enough data yet to give a better answer.

Just curious, what was changed? Is it actually a design change, or a component change? I'm just wondering what those of use that have working (so far) ESCs can do to keep them working.

Component change. Nat Semi hasn't been able to answer my concerns about their switcher controller to my satisfaction, so it looks like we'll be changing to a Linear Tech switcher controller. It is more expensive, but is rated almost double the specs of the National part. We aren't positive about the part selection yet -- that's why we are going to run some testing next week.

That is great to hear Patrick! Better components = us happy

Arct1k 06.13.2008 04:12 PM

Were you eventually able to replicate the failure...

That's great news, how many will be made for the 2nd batch?

Thanks for the info. That doesn't sound to bad. The only down side is the erevo just showed up today and I wont run it with the stock electroncs (sell them while they are still worth something).

Anyways can you give any update on the nue style motors?

tc3_racer_001 06.14.2008 06:57 AM

how cares about the neu motors :P ( actaully i really do) but first concentrate (like you have, more than expected, hope you guys dont get sick from lack of sleep!) on the MMM and get it out to the people, it wil be highly rated for sure and motor sales will follow! what id like to know is how much better are they compared to the cheap feigao's(and the other copies), medusa's and neu's?

So did we catch a break? Was it Monday (Yesterday)?

I'm not trying to push you, I (like most people) want it to be done right. I just want to know if I should wait or buy a Mamba Max.

Thanks,

badassrevo 06.17.2008 08:09 AM

Why is my first batch MMM still working? I beat the crap out of it every week. I race on 4s and play on 5s. This in in a Losi 8ight with a Neu 1512 2.5d. Don't get me wrong I am glad it is working, but I would like to remove the switch and don't want to void the warranty.

snowhack 06.25.2008 11:07 PM

badassrevo........I notice you have 8s w/ MMs in them. Any real issues using the 1/10th ESC? I have a MM in my XXXT and would like to convert my 8T. I'm sick of tuning and the noise w/ the 8T and the XXXT just wheelies and flips in the grass and spins out in dirt. It's just too much for a 2WD. I was looking at the Cap mods and a fan and staying w/ 4s lipos. I don't trust the MMM and frankly the price is just too much for what seems like hit and miss quality. I already have to get a conversion kit and a motor. How did your 8s do w/ it?

badassrevo 06.26.2008 06:51 AM

The Mamba Max handles 4s and 1/8th scale like it was made for it. All you need is some cooling mods and a BEC.

Sweet..... so now all I have to do is get a decent motor and cooling kit. I was looking at the Novak conversion kit. It has a fan, mount, bat box, etc. But I like the ones from here better.

Any advice on kv range or gearing changes, if any. I don't know of any slipper clutches for an 8, but I like the elecktri-clutch adapter that lets you use a nitro clutch. I figure it would take the shock off the drive line. I think it was designed for the Revo and uses a Traxxas e-clip shaft. I'de rather use my 4-shoe Losi and bolt it on. Thanks.

Thanks for the pics.
