I have a Zippy-H 5000 mAH 5s1p pack and have cycled it about 5 times so far. Not really enough use on it to say for sure but they seem fine. IMO it holes voltage better than my 2x 2s 8k Maxamps setup that I was using before (still use it, but the Zippy is so much more fun) but it doesn't stay balanced as well as any of my Maxamps packs. So far it looks like an excellent battery for the price though. I bought a Hyperion adapter for a Hyperion 0606/0610 charger and hooked it into my oldschool LBA10 balancer and it balances it fine.

Did I have bad luck or what? http://www.aijaa.com/img/b/00772/3081841.jpg
Happened during driving.

4s 5000mah 20C Zippy-H. I had driven ~30 charges with it before this happened. Temperatures been ok and all. Was on 1/8 buggy conversion with mamba monster and 2800kv xl-motor. (maybe 6 charges with this car, then with old cars, inferno and mt2) Charged with balancer and 1C or less.

For those who asked, the 3s 5k Zippy H will not, and can not be made to fit a rustler or Pede. They are way too long, longer than a 7 cell NiMh and a few MM too wide as well. I have two of the 3s 5k packs that I am selling because they don't fit in my buggy or stadium truck. The packs themselves are great and hold up awsome. I had those two 3s packs in my E-Maxx and they never broke a sweat. They performed better than MaxAmps and Venom as well.

A fiend of mine had a similar failure on a Zippy 5s 5000 pack and I had a 5s 4000 pack where one of the main leads was not soldered on properly. I was able to fix it myself on the 4s 5000. This is out of about 8 packs between us. The zippy are for sure great bang for the buck, but with the lower cost comes a lower lever of quality. I expect that they will have a few issues here and there, and in all honesty they haven had any more issues than I have seen with more expensive packs failure wise, but I do think there is room for improvement from an assembly standpoint.

But then again.... Its half the price of the "other" lipos so what do you expect. I'm satisfied with the dollar to performance of them.

So it is probably worth getting them, taking off the shrink and checking all of the connections. I would then wrap them tightly in clear tape to counter cell shifting and then resolder all of the mian leads and balance wires. As cheap as they are I would be happy to get them as loose cells that were matched and just put them together myself...

Has anyone tried purchasing the Zippy R's Hobby City has none is stock would like to get a couple more.

HobbyCity are now offering the smaller individual cells so we can hope that they eventually offer the 3k+ cells and prefferibly the 5k cells for us to build packs to fit our needs. We can only hope!

Is this true?!?! I was just about to buy some because they were the only lipos that I could afford in numbers that would handle a Neu. :whip::diablo:

EDIT: How would these compare to the Zippy R's ? http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=7298

i to am sad about the discontinuation of the "cheap enerlands" i was gonna pick a couple more up, being that they were the only lipo that you need, i am curious about the rhinos tho

tc3_racer_001 11.16.2008 06:54 AM

they seem "cheap" to me... that said ive got a tx pack and its perfect (and cheap too > $15, only recharged it twice since new and that was almost 5 months ago!! and ive done hrs and hrs of driving, recharged when it reached 11.2v.

JesseV 11.16.2008 07:33 AM

Im thinking between these two:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...0C_Lipoly_Pack

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...5C_Lipoly_Pack 2x these in parallel.

Setup is 1/8 buggy with MMMv3. Last Zippy 5Ah 20C 4s got too hot or was just poorly soldered and some cell leads fried. 2x those Rhinos would give 117A continuous, but 4700mAh capasity.

Comments?

I use 2x Zippy-H 3S 5000mAh in my MMM powered E-Revo and they've performed excellently so far. They rarely get warm, and give great run times. I also use 2x 4s 3500mAh in series on my MM powered E-Maxx. All in they're great battery packs, it's just that I wish they had a little bit more protection than just a blue shrink wrap.

Tempted 11.17.2008 04:04 PM

For me its the size. The Zippy H packs are awsomely cheap and perform great. But there are very few vehicles they fit in. Of all the vehicles I have tried, they only fit in the stock Traxxas Slash and Revo(very tight).
