no i didnt try that either what exactly will backfeeding the bec do?

entjoles 08.25.2008 10:32 PM

i think BrianG is thinking that it will let the esc. start up , by using the external ccbec and leaving the red wire in the esc. rx. plug you will be powering up the brain thru the rx. and into the esc. and it will work

it would have been worth a shot (if only he posted this last night:whip:)

Well, hooking the MMM to the link cable tells you the brains are ok as long as they are getting an external power source (via the link). When running, the BEC powers the brains and external servos. Well, if the BEC is bad, both the servos/receiver and the brains won't get the power. So, backfeeding an external BEC voltage INTO the MMM (as well as to the servos) "should" power the brains too. That is unless the MMM BEC FET isn't shunting battery voltage to the output (similar to the CCBEC has been reported to do).

Basically, just hook an external BEC but don't remove the red wire in the throttle cable. However, before you do this, I would measure the output voltage of the MMM BEC to make sure the output is in fact 0v (or close to it). If not, DO NOT do the backfeeding thing. Also, keep an eye on the external UBEC temps. If it gets hot then the MMM BEC is causing more issues.

got it back sat. and decided to run a ccbec on it, tested and ran for like 10 sec. before the ccbec smoked (? wtf....) so i went back inside and took off the smoked ccbec and put the red wire back in and tested , outside i go for 15 more sec. of fun..............

i just hope i didnt damage a $130 servo or my rx , and of coarse i sold most of my stuff so i dont have an extra rx...

all default settings except changed the lvc to 13.2v

this kinda sucks cause it will be snowing here before long, that is why i put the bec on it in the first place , i thought ahh ha , i will just use an external bec and when cc gets things figured out i will run it normal

oh well..........pdlcast incoming package

Monster Max problem

I also was using a Monster V2 with the Castle BEC. It was running great for 7 min in my buggy then it stopped working. It smoked my receiver and the Castle BEC was outputting 15 volts and burnt my receiver. I did checked the new receiver with a seperate 6v batts and everything seems fine. Then I hooked up the Monster BEC to the receiver and then the smoke came out of the Monster ESC. This sucks but they are at least replacing it or repairing the ESC when we send it in. Goodluck to all that runs the Monster Max, hopefully some are actually having fun instead of worrying about having a dead ESC.

found some stuff that allowed me to test my rx and servo , all is well on 3.7 v so i will assume for now that they are ok and my mmm just needs to be sent back for repair.............:yipi:
